In between dance floors he's found time to create monthly mixes highlighting some of his favorite artists and remixes from the month before. We're super excited to be premiering each mix every month here on ATG in a new segment we're calling First [...]

look at the sun, its in a honey jar ♫ The Checks - Candyman Shimmer My favorite New Zealand band The Checks are back and I couldn't be more pumped! These guys dropped on of the best (and most under-acknowledged) albums of 2009 . Candyman Shimmer is a winding slow burner that gets under your skin and makes itself at home. But forget my words, the band's own description can't be beat. "Candyman Shimmer" is really all about you and your stinking mate in a [...]
POW! To echo the comments on Youtube, why dont people make this kind of jungle anymore? Surely there must be a market for music as good as this?!? The revival starts here! (I hope...)

What is Liverpool? Well it's a football club and a sixties pop group. It's also emotive ambient glitch in the form of Dauwd. I simply don't post enough British music these days. Is that down to me? No. It pains me to say it, but American music is simply just a lot better right now. Somebody out there please prove me wrong! This track is certainly a start, and definitely designed for an immersive headphones reflection. Dauwd is currently signed to Pictures Music . [...]
Friday house treat courtesy of Toronto outfit Azari & II, their self-titled debut album drops today and "best house album of the year" has already been thrown around. These guys stick safely to a kind of fuzzed-out psych/shoegaze shimmer on their debut album. And although i've heard plenty of Primal Scream or BJM records in my life, The Tamborines still successfully kick out a worthy racket. They often emulate the sound of the classic Creation bands - the opener reminds me of mid-period Telescopes - but you can tell that their fanbase will also consist of
[ download ] [tweetmeme] Peter Bjorn & John make music that begs for to be remixed. The Swedish trio often gives the gift of remixing as frequently as they receive it. ( Their remix of The Shins ' "Australia" is still worth a listen.) "Second Chance" started out as an uptempo, cowbell-saturated nugget of danceable pop. The remix courtesy of the RAC ( Remix Artist Collective ) breaks the back of the original's strong, percussive spine, by softening the hard edges with misty synths and piano. [...]

Some time ago I told you about this amazing producer I found via Soundcloud: Dauwd. Pictures Music found if before me and that resulted in a release on one of the best labels at the moment. If you head over to their Bandcamp page you can get the release by paying whatever you like for it, in true Radiohead style. http://picturesmusic.bandcamp. com/album/could-it-be-shimmer [...]
If you recall, when Arctic Monkeys released their first official single from their forthcoming Suck It And See , the rock n rolling "Don't Sit Down Cause I've Moved Your Chair," the band also confirmed they'd be releasing the single on 7" vinyl backed with two B-sides. The single comes out physically today, available via Domino, but both tracks are live streaming below if you'd care to check them out first. [ download ] [tweetmeme] There must be something about the Scandinavian landscape, something expansive and limitless, that can't help but seep its way into those nations' musical exports. Readers have previously witnessed this quality on tracks by Blindfold , Seabear , Rubik , and Pallers , and today it's dished out by Finnish act Delay Trees . The quartet's self-titled full-length debut was released earlier this month by Friendly Fire Recordings (home to Oh No Ono , The [...]

Suck It and See , quarto e novo álbum do Arctic Monkeys , ainda não foi lançado oficial, mas está na rede e você leu as pequenas resenhas da equipe Rock'n'Beats sobre o álbum. Agora, depois da prévia , chegou a vez de conferir na íntegra os b-sides do single Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair : The Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap e I.D.S.T. We All Want Someone has discovered the two b-sides to the Arctic Monkeys' forthcoming single 'Don't Sit Down Cos I've Moved Your Chair' . 'IDST', or if you prefer: 'If Destroyed Still True', and 'The Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap' are both heavier than 'Don't Sit Down...' and are both, well, better. [Read more]

In the last couple of months Pictures Music has really stepped up their game with some fantastic releases and a healthy batch of new artists being pushed. The first of the new producers coming from the London-based label is Dauwd . Hailing from the city of Liverpool in Northern England, his sounds fit perfectly into the remit created at Pictures through their past releases from Koreless, Chairman Kato and Lapalux. Both tracks are available as a free download, so it would be seriously rude not to give them a listen! The first track 'Could It Be' is [...]

Pictures are developing a nice formula: give away a fantastic single on Bandcamp, then follow it up with an even better single on vinyl. Their latest release is courtesy of Liverpool's Dauwd , who makes some of the most beautifully, carefully produced music we have heard in a long time. The a-side, 'Could It Be', is an elaborately constructed piece of 2-step with a bass line that brings to mind 'Up Down Up Down' from Pictures alumni Koreless. But 'Shimmer' is the real star here - a stunning, melancholic piece that builds but [...]

Our mates Pictures Music have another quality release out now... It's their great eye for quirky bassy dubby stuff thats really making them stand out from the crowd at the moment. They've got liverpudlian Daudw under their wing and they are doing one of those pay what you want scheme for the tracks below... Personally love the Shimmer track If all goes to plan the boys are planning a vinyl release very soon. For official Pictures Bizniz check out their site . Could It Be/Shimmer by Pictures Music [...]

A veritable age ago, we ranted and not so much raved as bobbed to the docile sounds of Dark Sky , with their Frames EP having been recently released on Pictures Music . Lamentably, we don't pick up on as many of their eerie releases as we ought, although these particular tracks from Liverpool's Dauwd are nigh on impossible to disremember, let alone disregard. A-side Could It Be contorts clicks and glitches that've become all but quintessential to the past twelve months, fusing them together with tinges of ambient jazz and glimmering clavier interjections.
