Emerging from London's ever-changing punk scene a couple of years back and, naturally, comprised of members who play in umpteen other great bands ( Satellites of Love , The Shitty Limits , Sceptres, and the list goes on) No are formidable. Live they can veer from bass-heavy cacophony with enough low-end murk to disembowel, or they can be razor-sharp hardcore bullets, nailing each song in just over a minute with passion and breathlessness. Their self-titled debut 123 on Static Shock combines it all. 'Big Black Wings' is a swift, gritty thing which manages to sound brutal and [...]

God damm it, party is sometimes messy and we like it. Violent Femmes - Dance Motherfucker Dance The Shitty Limits - Transitions Black Strobe - I'm a Man

So far, I am not really surprise to find some common interests in the top 5 lists from The Zookeepers, Let's Wrestle and Dananananaykroyd. Of course, there are bands on those lists that I have never heard of, but that's why I love reading peoples' lists—to discover new music (I am looking forward to hear more from Kylesa). Nevertheless, when I asked The Shitty Limits about their top 5 of the year, I didn't expect to get an entire list of bands I have never heard of. Here is the list from The Shitty Limits (note that the band didn't [...]

The Shitty Limits is a band that is not afraid to give away their music for free. On the band's MySpace page, you can download a handful of 7-inches for free! What a great move! I probably would have missed out on this band if it wasn't for the free downloads of Yesterdays Heroes and Limits Appear . Well, that's probably a lie... I would have definitely wanted more after hearing their songs from their music player! The Shitty Limits plays DIY 80s hardcore punk style music, and their debut full-length, Beware the Limits [...]

A fantastic clanging punk racket, recalling art brut especially - all bands should be named with such similtanous anger and humour. Wildly appropriate perhaps considering they're from Reading. The shitty Limits - I'm a square (mp3)

Here's a little trashy hardcore for ya from U.K. garage band The Shitty Limits . Landing roughly somewhere between early Kinks and Minor Threat, The Shitty Limits deliver edgy and brutal revved-up ditties with excellent vocals that sound so fantastically blown-out it hurts my throat just listening. This is the kind of music that makes me wanna knock things down and/or break windows and/or drive very fast, all of which are pretty damn positive in my book. What's more, they generously give up links via their myspace to download their whole out of print 73 [...]
The Good: Bodies of Water - "Under the Pines"; For almost 6-minutes, Bodies of Water absolutely rocks us on this brand new track. It's dark and sinister, but it's blended neatly with beautiful harmonies, a strong chorus, and some sick drum work. I've liked Bodies of Water for a good amount of time now, but this is their high water mark so far without a doubt! Grade: A- Rick Ross (feat. Pharell)
