Due to some busy times in the current music world and our lives, we've somehow neglected mixes lately here on Knox Road, and we apologize. You, the readers, (well, those who actually take the time to talk to us - thank you!) have spoken. You miss the mix. So I will get them up and going again along with the normal stream of posts. The theme of this mix? As per usual, songs that I enjoy. (P.S. this will have no effect on iTunes Mixeries , which will continue to be sporadically posted. But I get more control with [...]
The Silent Years - Taking Drugs At The Amusement Park Nothing ground breaking just good. They have a Tumblr too!
The Silent Years Forest fire Un titre indie-pop à la mélancolie latente. Let Go est sorti il y a déjà quelques mois et c'est foutrement [...]

Hi, I'm Agnes, and I'm an addict - mainly TV shows on DVD like Weeds and The Office and Scrubs, and more recently CSI NY. I blame Gary Sinise. Tonight however I made the monumental decision to turn off the TV and give my ipod some extra attention. I've been meaning to post about The Silent Years for weeks now and I've been listening to a few tracks off their 2009 EP Let Go on repeat as I've cleaned my kitchen, hung some photos and measured my couch for new covers. Just another rockin' Monday night. [...]

all of my friends think i'm kind of a mess ♫ The Silent Years - Taking Drugs At The Amusement Park I have been digging on this track by The Silent Years for a while now but the title and creepo album art always gave me pause. Well I finally got over that shit and checked out their MySpace Their other tunes don't have as many exciting "da da da da da da"s but they are pretty darn good, with a bit of that magical Freelance Whales [...]

This summer The Silent Years released a follow up to their stellar album The Globe , which made my top ten list for 2008 and was probably the biggest surprise find of the year for me. Let Go is a six song EP that unfortunately just doesn't match up to the greatness of its predecessor. Not only does it pale in comparison in length, but they just are unable to achieve the kind of rhythmic and melodic greatness that permeates through The Globe . That's not to say it isn't worth a listen. Unfortunately none of [...]

Video: The Silent Years "Taking Drugs At The Amusement Park" Taken from their latest EP " Let Go ": Let Go iTunes Let Go Amazon Josh from The Silent Years commented on the video: "Taking Drugs At the Amusement Park was such a joyous sing-a-long type song that imagery of children was inescapable. We reached out blindly to the Paul Green School of Rock and they were receptive so we nervously showed up to teach the kids our [...]
I've had The Silent Years ' album on repeat in the car for about a month, yes it's that good. So to get this little jewel in my inbox was really just lovely! Let Go is one of those albums that when a song comes up on random play I always picked up my ipod to see just who the hell was that great band. And now Deastro has remixed "Vampires Bite The Hands Feed Them." I didn't review Moondagger , Deastro's 2009 album (I guess it's not too late, eh) but I did [...]

I've been incredibly busy the past couple of weeks (primarily moving, among other things) and I'm just now finally getting settled in. I don't think I've had this kind of incessant time away from blogging since I started this thing, but hopefully things will get back to normal around here. What better way to kick things off than with The Daily Graboid, as this will be another chunk of the last month or so of releases that I've missed. Starting next week I will probably get back to a weekly posting of this, so I'm sure [...]
Even though it’s been less than a year since their last album, The Silent Years aren’t staying quiet. In order to hold their fans over until their third full-length record is complete, they’ve released Let Go . While the results of this EP are pretty good and yield some interesting sounds, the tail end of the record drags the rest of it down. Let Go was recorded over the span of one week in several locations around their hometown of Detroit. Therefore, it can make the mini-album’s missteps understandable. But even with [...]

New Wax I mentioned The Silent Years a few years back when they offered their self-titled album for free. The band has since released a follow-up album entitled The Globe and they're back with a brand new EP entitled Let Go . The mini-album was recorded in the span of a week in a variety of Detroit locales: from lead-singer Josh Epstein's bedroom studio to an empty health department building. While Detroit doesn't exactly conjure up the rosiest of images, the band has created a [...]
