The Silent Years : Sharks mp3 So I'm a little obsessed with both Sharks AND Rooftop BBQs and couldn't resist. Congratulations goes out to The Silent Years who will be headlining the October 17th BMI CMJ showcase at Arlene's. But why wait 3 weeks for some industry gig when you could ...
As usual i don't know too much about The silent Years except that I like them. There is a bit of devendra banhart and a touch of Grandaddy bit odd in some places but good stuff. The Silent Years - Someone To Keep Us Warm The Silent Years - Lidocaine Someone to keep us warm (Video)

"We all need to find someone to keep us warm" The Silent Years released their self-titled LP last October, and, well, it's pretty great. Pitchfork gave it a 7.3, but we all know how little they know about anything worth knowing. I've been listening to it for a few months and, recently, finally, managed to get a copy of my very own. I think what draws me to these tracks is the melancholy, shoegaze feel that they manage. I have [...]
Awesome news! If you download the image of the ticket above and print it out, you can get into the AMAZING show at Metro tonight for only 6 bucks instead of 9! Gotta love a great deal like that, especially with a line up that reads as follows: amaaaaazing. if these three bands were on a bill together in NYC i wouldn't hesitate to go, and so neither should you my hometown readers. The Silent Years - Sharks Skybox - [...]

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Daytrotter.com is an amazing website. I've mentioned them a few times and yet they continue to introduce me to more and more bands. This time it was The Silent Years on Monday, and man, they are really great. Immediately after my first listen through their eponymous debut, all I could think was that this is probably the best album I didn't know about in 2006. It might get an honorary mention in my Best of 2007 list, but only time will tell. [...]
Welcome back from SXSW everyone, how was the trip? Well while you fine folks were all in the nice sun going from show to show we were shoveling several inches of snow off our walks and cars and trying to recover from our St. Patrick's hang overs. You may also have heard that they sold out several shows at [...]

I'm thinking about getting that way tonight.... A couple shows peaked my interest. Chart magazine is throwing another bender at the Horseshoe. Its probably going to be packed all the way from You Say Party, We Say Die! (10pm) and Cadence Weapon (11pm) to Land Of Talk (midnight). Kill The Lights (1am) are also a great live band. Head a little north to Bloor to catch the Outside Music showcase. Baby Eagle and Woolly Leaves (plus special [...]

Happy President's Day, whatever that means! Yay America. Okay it is Washington's B-day, he's like super famous. Go $1 dollar bill! Educate yourself sucka. Some interesting things to note, The man who co-invented the TV remote, Robert Adler, died at age 93 from heart failure. Let's see, he help create the remote, won awards, contributed to culture and technology, I would say the failure in heart is non-existent. And!!! He died in Boise, Idaho. What a rad guy! As I was browsing through the Idaho Statesman website, I found an awesome quick 7 [...]
Radiohead - Lucky (acoustic) !!! - All My Heroes Are Weirdos AOL The Interface: Dustin Kensrue The Silent Years - No Secrets Eddie Steele - Groove Me Mama The One AM Radio - In The Time We've Got The Stooges - My Idea Of Fun
I previously have never seen this ad, possibly cause I was only 1 at the time. This is the 1984 Apple Macintosh commercial that was first shown during the SuperBowl. I watche it today at our training day for reps...which was super informational and I actually enjoyed it. There was a DE from Seattle named Kurt, whoop for the Northwest. Does the narrarators voice in this commercial sound very familiar? "For everything else theres Mastercard"...I think it's that guy. [...]

Just a random mix to get your week started. Lots of acoustic/soft stuff. Sasha Dobson - Without You Christina Rosenvinge - Quien me Querra Honey Cut - The Day I turned to Glass Lost in the Trees - [...]

JOANNA NEWSOM @ THE EL REY TONIGHT [MP3] Joanna Newsom - Cosmia Joanna Newsom 's daring new album, Ys , is sure to be at the top of almost every bloggers year end list. I would have my blogger card revoked if I failed to mention the more than admirable 9.4 Pitchfork rating the record recieved. Joanna and her harp will be performing live tonight at the EL REY THEATRE. Drivers beware: expect throngs of spellbound people to be exiting the [...]

Here is another Monday dose of new music. The Silent Years The Silent Years come from Detroit and unlike their city of origin, this band is not scary, foreboding or neurotically violent. The band is quite the opposite, in fact. Cited as a New York Times as a band to watch from this year's CMJ (world's best judge of music, I know), The Silent Years have a rather catchy blend of melodic indie rock. [...]
This week turned out to be a nice mix of music here in the group without going too far in any direction...well. At least that was my plan (or hope.) Before the weekend starts I want to post a really solid band I've been listening to recently. I'm guessing quite a few of you have already heard of them since their myspace page is visited more than frequently. They have a radio friendly

Am I really so far behind that I'm talking about bands who've released albums a couple weeks back? Well, somewhat luckily, the number of awesome releases tends to slow down at the end of the year, which means that I'll have caught up in a couple of weeks or so. Until then, let's discuss a great band who put out an album on Oct. 24th. If you went to CMJ, I hope you happened to catch a live set by The Silent Years. When I first started hearing talk of their self-titled album a few weeks before its release, everything [...]

hi kids. so my lovely friend Sabrina is managing this band called The Silent Years from Detroit, who are coming all the way to NYC this weekend to play THREE (yes, THREE) shows! so I think you should be awesome and come support them/her. Apparently after their performance this year at SXSW, the band generated some great buzz on sites like Tripwire and are now kicking off a nationwide tour to support their self-titled debut(out October 24th). Personally, I've had this album on repeat for days as I couldn't help but get drawn in to [...]
