If you find something you like on this list, download the complimentary MP3 and click the album art, which will take you to the Amazon MP3 page so you can purchase it (some of these albums are $5 or less). 50 // A.A. Bondy – Believers It's about time Bondy takes the full on band direction without tip-toeing around it like the last few albums. Oh wait let me re-word that; his last two where spectacular, but this is a sound that he's been hiding for a while and it's [...]

I apologize for the lack of posts recently, but I've been backpacking in a far off land and internet is rather spotty (or I have to pay for it). This tune is not really new, it was released at the end of November, but it's not very well known and it's simply amazing. The drop in this song manages to capture a fun energetic feel that when you hear it, you just want to grab your friends and dance in a circle with a shit eating grin on your face. Coming from the Casual Relations EP, I present to you [...]
Eliza Doolittle : Official | The Weeknd : Official | via P&P Many thanks to Confusion of Pigeons and Planes for sharing this sleep over rendition of The Weeknd's The Morning by the beautiful Ms. Eliza Doolittle. I think Confusion and I share similar crushes on female singer songwriter artists. If I ever run into him at a show I'll definitely thank him with a tasty beverage. Any hoo, press play and enjoy. Stumbled across this hot electro track from The Sleepover and Prendii with the remix from Ton!c . Kind of reminds a bit like some of Uffie 's tracks. ALBUMS OF THE YEAR #25 - #21 #25 Sleep Over - Forever - Casual Diamond ( MP3 ) The now-defunkt Pitchfork subsidiary Altered Zones presented, amongst many others, an album stream for Sleep Over’s Forever in 2011, the haunting solo project of Stefanie Franciotti. I missed them in Brighton with Pure X in the Autumn, but ‘Forever’ has been a regular spin encouraged by its gangly synthesised riffs, mountainous mid-range and haunting Warpaint-esque female voices in constant competition. #24 Dirty Beaches - Badlands - Lord Knows Best ( MP3 [...]

If you've been even remotely regular in following this blog, our number one shouldn't come as a surprise - I believe I've already bothered you enough with my love of Gang Gang Dance's latest effort (and GGD in general ). I'll leave the list unnumbered because, except for the first 7-8 entries, the rest come in kind of (but not entirely) particular order. And it's not a strictly albums -of-the-year list, as I've included some mixtapes/remix albums/ compilations. Also, I just realised we haven't covered half of this on the blog… Don't [...]

Off the top of my head (and according to the charts from my several last.fm accounts), here are 25 songs I've had on repeat sometime in 2011. Also, judging from our previous experience , having a post with a bunch of mp3s is good for driving traffic! Gang Gang Dance – Glass Jar Litanic Mask – Virgin Spring U.S. Girls – The Island Song Pictureplane [...]

Here is the promised second half of my favorite 50 tracks of 2011. If you happened to be within earshot of me at all this year, I want you to know that I am in no way sorry for the amount of airtime these 25 tracks got. Although what I am sorry for is the ridiculous amount of embedded youtube videos on here. I wasn’t feeling particularly creative and I didn’t feel like getting blacklisted :X … 25 Earth Girl Helen Brown :: “I Walked All Night” [...]

Sleepovers Three got-a-new-dance-and-it-goes-li ke-this reasons to hit The Burlington tonight... 1. If you're in the mood for garage pop that can get you on your feet and ready to awkwardly dance amongst strangers, Chicago's Sleepovers are the band for you. The group makes it rain stiff keyboard licks and reverb-drenched guitar riffs over distorted surf rock. What's more fun than that? LISTEN: " Sleepovers are Fun ." 2. Sometimes you [...]
31. Wild Flag - "Future Crimes" Few straight-on rock acts forced me to pay attention this year like Wild Flag (which features Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss of Sleater-Kinney.) This track in particular summons up the urgency & ferocity of the best of that legendary band. 32. Teen Daze - "The Harvest" - youtube This is from Teen Daze's 2011 concept album based on C.S. Lewis's Out Of The Silent Planet , and is also inspired by the time that Teen [...]

Two years ago, I ran a series of guest posts from people involved in Irish music featuring their top 5 Irish acts at that moment. This time around, I thought I'd shift the focus to international and ask a similar question -
"So if I see you again Desperate and stoned Keep your prison locked up And I will leave my gun at home" Na sequência do post anterior, continuo hoje a dar a conhecer mais algumas músicas que preenchem a minha lista pessoal de preferências de 2011. Pela posição #36, os Sleep ∞ Over com mais um tema do ano, "Romantic Streams" que já foi referido neste blog. No lugar #35 da tabela vamos
On February 6, Texas dream pop duo Boy Friend will release their album 'Egyptian Wrinkle' via Hell, Yes! Boy Friend are Christa Palazzolo and Sarah Brown (formerly of Sleep ∞ Over ) who crafted their debut EP in 2010 after a falling out with Sleep ∞ Over's Stefanie Franciotti. Boy Friend followed it up with the 'Lovedropper' 7-inch before starting work on 'Egyptian Wrinkle' in Austin. I'm not 100% sure how the lyrics relate to the title, or what the title even means, so if you figure it out please let me know! [...]

♩ Boy Friend - Egyptian Wrinkle

Alright, y'all know what time it is. It's the Halloweekend, and today we've got some of the best tracks from the last month that fit nicely into whatever theme-heavy environment you're trying to create. Whether it's a spare spectralness (Atlas Sound), a haunted heaviness (Crystal Stilts), or just some aggro rap music with a titular affiliation to the Antichrist ("6663), here's to hoping these 13 tracks hit home on some level. And, apologies in advance: " Werewolf Bar Mitzvah " did not make the cut. I can't believe they recorded that, until I remember that it's Tracy Morgan we're talking [...]

Date Friday, October 28th Location Scoot Inn Doors 800p Tickets $10 from Thundertix I know that there's tons of great shows in town this weekend, but one of the better local shows features some pretty prominent bands. First off, you'll get Pure X headlining the gig, and they've received a lot of great press nationally, not to [...]
