This coming Memorial Day weekend (May 25th - 29th) marks another wonderful line-up with the always original San Francisco Popfest . The great thing about SF Popfest is that every show boasts an impressive and nearly unfamiliar mess of bands from all over the world. The true indie rock fest will be featuring bands from the UK's C-86 movement, K Records of the Pacific Northwest, SF/DC indie-brainchild Slumberland Records. Even our own Blackbird Blackbird and The Mantles along with rising VA duo, Eternal Summers . Needless to say, [...]

2010 was quite a year. It saw graduations, festivals, a move from Athens to Barcelona, the discovery of a new city, a slight, um, slowing down of our blog activity, a World Cup, many flights (17 for me), and a lot of great music. So, without further ado, we present to you: So, how did we compile this rather fantastic list, you ask? Easy, we consulted our trusty last.fm profiles (see the bottom of this page for our individual profiles). We then each chose our top 25 and [...]

Tweet This is probably the most news-like headline I've ever used here on Eardrums, but I guess this is one of those more news-like stories, so I hope I'm excused. Yesterday, our favourite band from Vermont, The Smittens , were shocked to find out that their song "Something Sassy" was used to promote a right-wing conservative radio show. We're shocked too... This is their press release in full: "VERMONT [...]

Tweet WeePOP! records have announced some great news today. They will release a new EP with the lovely The Just Joans , "Your pain is a joke next to mines", on 27 September. It will be a 7 track EP, as usual on a handstamped 33 cd with handmade cover. I said "as usual", but from now on, the 33 discs will not be the only thing WeePop! will release. They will start releasing full lenght albums on "giant-sized" (standard 5″) cds, [...]

To celebrate that autumn has (more or less) started to arrive where I'm at, I decided to make a mix. It's pretty mellow yet slightly dark at times, but there's a bit of sunshine in there as well. Tracklist is as follows: Eux Autres - "Rosehill" Laetitia Sadier - "Long Legs" Fever Ray - "Mercy Street" Wildbirds & Peacedrums - "Fight For Me" Random Patterns - "Every Eye Is On" The Foxglove Hunt - "Alone And You [...]
I love Indietracks. In preparation for writing this, I've been concerned that anything I say is just going to be horribly gushing. I've gone over the weekend again and again looking for negatives to include in this. I didn't come up with very much. This is a festival that can seemingly do no wrong to me, and what's written below will reflect that. With that said, let's jump aboard the train toward the Midland Railway Centre in Derbyshire for a look back at this year's Indietracks. FRIDAY [...]

Once again, Indietracks was an absolute delight. The proper review (you know, the one with words and stuff) will follow tomorrow, but here are the fruits of my photographic labour: [...]

Photography by Me ! What is twee? Since the beginning of the dawn of man, this question seems to exist at the very core of our being... I asked the Super Desserts during my interview , and the standard mentions of cutesy music and not-so-cutesy lyrics came up, but really what is cutesy? Is THIS twee? What about this? *shrug* But really, this is really not about "twee", [...]
![Various Artists: Wish I'd Kept A Scrapbook (A Tribute to Tullycraft) [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2671737_lg.jpg)
When I saw there was a new compilation devoted to hailing one of the greatest northwest bands of all time (yes, Tullycraft ), I got pretty excited. When I saw that the tracklist included bands from famed labels like Tullycraft's very own Magic Marker Records, as well as HHBTM, Matinee, and even recent favorite weePOP, my excitement blew through the roof. Look down the track list (it's at the end of this review... I'll forgive you for pausing to check it out) and you'll see some of the greatest indie pop and modern [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. Video: Indietracks 2009 in 7 Minutes by LastNightFromGlasgow The Indietracks lineup seems to be pretty much complete now (though a few more bands are still to come) with Everybody Was In The French Resistance... Now and Slow Club both being added to the bill. Perhaps more excitingly though, the day by day breakdowns have now been announced, giving us a festival that looks something like this: Friday [...]

Well, my friends... The end of music bloggerin' as you & I know it may be ending soon. It's true. You see, over in Ireland, there's a group called IMRO that is basically a union for music artists that have decided it would be a good thing to force music bloggers who host music on their site to pay licensing fees to "play" the music on the site if it's available in Ireland (of course it's available in Ireland, as far as I know, none of block any countries). [...]

Now that London Popfest is out of the way, it's time to turn our attention to this year's Indietracks festival, which will take place 23-25 July at the lovely Midland Railway Centre in Derbyshire. Last year we covered the event quite extensively, and this year will be no different. Previews of the bands in the run up to the event, followed by reports and a shit ton of photos of the weekend itself. I'm not exaggerating when I call Indietracks the highlight of my musical year. Where else can you get a non-stop indiepop while surrounded by (and [...]

An interesting upcoming split single has come across my desk. September 14th will see Burlington, VT's The Smittens release a four song split with Scottish popsters The Just Joans. The Smittens' contributions are a cover of The Just Joans' "What Do We Do Now?" as well as the infectiously boppy indie pop number "Summer Sunshine".From The Just Joans we get a playful take on The Smittens' clever

Sunday didn't get off to the greatest of starts. Waking up rather early after a terrible night's sleep at the Travel Inn, followed by Tesco breakfast (surprisingly edible), and then arriving on the site before anyone else at all wasn't the best feeling in the world. Still, after not getting to any on the Saturday, I was determined to catch at least one on-train performance, namely that of The Manhattan Love Suicides. Now, apparently they'd broken up shortly before the festival, but having no idea, went and sat and waited for them in a train [...]
