Sound City Clothing is a new clothing brand that took off in late 2012 by London based designer Archie Proudfoot. The brand focused on bold and engaging design, while never sacrificing quality. Their first collection consists of the three t-shirts "BE", "UP" and "ON," which features some awesome fabric pieces. The tees are first screenprinted before the fabric lettering is appliqued, and then a top-notch stitching around the edge of the fabric letters gives the tees a crisp finish. I was surprised to see that The Soft City have such indiepop history; formed by ex-Comet Gain and Kicker chap Phil Sutton, who’s now relocated to New York, they had a Cloudberry single in 2007, an album on Plastilina this year and their debut gig was at the 2009 New York Popfest. The Soft City started out as a solo project for Phil Sutton, former drummer of the legendary Comet Gain. The third annual NYC Popfest is happening as we speak. Four days of catchy songs, lovelorn lyrics, "bah bah bah" choruses, mostly polite dancing and vintage clothes. The fun kicked off Thursday night at New York's most indie-pop centric venue, Cake Shop, with a stellar lineup of local talent some of whom I've seen before, some not.
