Surprise! Bruise Cruise is back for another year, and in 2012, they're gonna bring the party back to the boat (presumably making another 1,000 socially relevant memes for HRO to 'comment' about like an indie TMZ) going from Miami to the Bahamas and back. Bands announced so far for the February 10th-13th cruise include King [...]

Mr. Ryan Brown of Gray Goods sent us these answers to our questions in this next installment of the q and also a series. q: What is the last song you (really) heard? a: I heard Instant Karma! in the car this morning and it got me going, usually does. I've also been giving Fleetwood Mac a serious run for the first time in my life. A friend turned me onto Tusk and its been downhill from there. [...]

The Sundelles ' new album, Georgia Swan is now available for purchase. With the help of Tony Maimone, of Pere Ubu fame, the band has finally been able to create an album with the sounds that they hear in their heads when writing songs. Oh and Matty McLoughlin from the Soft Pack plays lead guitar on this track. Listen. Downloadable: Can't Win (mp3) You can purchase the digital of Georgia Swan right now @ Amazon MP3 or iTunes ( Editor's Note : [...]
Video des Jahres The Grand Spectacular - Being a Dickhead's Cool Konzert/Liveact/Auftritt des Jahres Hier gibt es gleich zwei [...]
A little surf, garage and punk rock with some rather heavy subject matter. These guys show some real signs of promise.

Naja, [...]
I slept for too long on this free Mexican Summer mixtape they released a few months past and now I feel far behind the pack in letting you fine folk know about its existence. Mexican Summer is one of those super indie labels that release more music in a month than you can possibly digest [...]

The indie music world is a fickle, fickle place. One moment beard-rock is the flavor of choice, a second later bloggers are latching on to every electro-pop gem they can get their cyber-hands on. The chase for the next buzzband, the next remix, the next album leak can be exhausting. Since I never had the chance at crafting a year-end best albums list, I spent my time not ranking but contemplating, analyzing the inpenetrably vast number of lists already out there on the inter-webs. One thing rang clear, the indie blogosphere has a special affinity for ethereal, dreamy [...]

Not as new as one might like yet this one is worth the post. Bleeding Knees Club are duo Alex Wall & Jordan Malane from Australia and are will be supporting Wavves on their forthcoming tour of Oz in March. Their post-punk / pop medley reeks of The Soft Pack with a tinge of Black Lips. Its about as addictive as that other one from 2009 that made you whistle throughout the warmer months (well, maybe not...). [...]

So. It's that time where we decide to rank our children and tell which ones are our favorites. It can't be good for their selfestime but damnit, it makes us feel good. 10. The Tallest Man On Earth - The Wild Hunt The sophomore release from this amazing UK songwriter won my heart over and made me cry just a little. "Tallest Man On Earth - King Of Spain" 9. Avi Buffalo - [...]
The favorite 40 local albums of 2010 as rendered by a listener who tries be open to sounds from every niche in our fair region, who tries not be swayed by hype, and who makes no apologies for liking his meat and potatoes. 1. Local Natives , "Gorilla Manor" (Frenchkiss) This was more of a 2009 album for locals who fell for the Natives during their Silver Lake residencies, but its February release in the U.S. augured widespread [...]

Since it is impossible for anyone to listen to a year's releases in their entirety, I thought I'd round out our Best of 2010 lists with a few provided by friends. My buddy Will runs a blog called Anti-Snob , and he was nice enough to offer it up for BIYL readers. Enjoy! 15. The Spires - Curved Space Sweet & sour pop buried in reverb and dischordal euphoria. 'Nuff said. 14. Klaxons - Surfing the Void [...]
Matt's favorite records include Superchunk and Screaming Females. Check it out!

Toronto - 2010 was a pretty good year for music, yet many of my musical highlights involved music that was not new or at least new music by older artists. It was a year that saw numerous band reunions - I saw Thrush Hermit, Soundgarden, Swans, Suede and X Japan - as well as the return of bands who had been away long enough that it seemed like a reunion (Teenage Fanclub). Still, although I spent much of my time looking back, there was a lot of new stuff to get excited about this year. So here's list of some stuff I liked. [...]
From Weezy to Yeezy, Mojo to Mondo, The ArchAndroid to the Rebel Within , here's the next in Culture Bully's posts looking back on the year's best music; this time counting down the top albums of 2010.
I admit I have not heard a ton of 2010 releases this year. However, I did not lack for quality music that I repeatedly listened to, that I personally connected with, and that will stick with me long after this year has passed. Here are my top 5 - with a song from each to sample (generally track 1's because these albums all start strong).
