We need easily understood reasons, we need easy-to-follow storylines. Either/Or, Three Acts, Fiscal Quarters. One of the failings of human beings in the 21st Century is that, in our desperation to process massive fuckwads of information, the nature of these options hasn't spread so much as solidified. Oh, we lingo like pioneers. Paradigm shifts, the way we live now, outside of the box. We can [...]

Listen to The Song Corporation 's new full-length album, Pirates! , and you'll hear a band that's not only good at playing, but enjoys it and doesn't care if you know it. One of the things we like about them is that they've never been afraid of letting their music be fun. Even when the lyrics are busy setting a scene that may be decidedly dire and grim, the music is often a contrast to that - not always, but often. They're quite capable of letting the music get as dark and moody as the next indie [...]

I had been watching her all night at a dinner party thrown by a guy I didn't like very much, but who could cook well. She was sipping red wine and nodding to the person seated next to her. "Now Would Be" by The Sky Drops (+) 2. "Gotta Go" [...]

photos by Devon Banks Last Tuesday night saw the Beg Yr Pardon event coast gracefully into its fourth edition. As always, the brownies were good, the barbeque optional, and the beer eventually free. The most important guest of the evening was a thriving AC unit, allowing a person to move around a bit without unwittingly changing the color of their shirt. The momentum seems to be picking up, with an increasingly full room of looky-loos. The swelled numbers were treated to a line-up that was meaner, darker, [...]

(The Song Corporation at BYP4 - photo by Bryan Bruchman ) Beg Yr Pardon continues to attract a good deal of attention four shows into its run. And for good reason. Tuesday night's show delivered on the promise of the previous shows, with great sets from all the bands were were able to see. Of course, our favorite set was by The Song Corporation , who, as previously stated , grow more impressive with each performance. We were glad to hear some of our favorite TSC songs the other night, including "The [...]
