The first track I heard from Tennis was their amazing 502s influenced "Marathon". And now they own my heart, since they decided to do a cover of a track of my favorite rock 'n roll artists, Brenda Lee's "Is it true?", an amazing song with a typical 602s title about an innocent and hurt girl, [...]
I just received The Five One's new release "Sorry", and the fusion of reggae/pop/hip-hop is treating me right at the moment. If they sound familiar, I previously posted their rendition of Death Cab For Cutie's "What Sarah Said", which is also a good little number to add to your libraries. Give this one a listen and let me know if you're into their sound. Download: The Five One - Sorry
Watch out, Brooklyn. Northside Festival is this weekend, which means a shitload of bands and hipsters will be crawling the streets of Brooklyn-okay so that's normal but I mean like, way more than usual. And there will be too many shows going on at once. But don't be overwhelmed, we're here to help. We'll hold your hand through this. You see that heading up there, the one that reads "New York's Music Blog"? Yeah, dude. Street cred. So you better take this guide seriously. Confession: this post is just a way for me to organize my own Northside [...]

Kaskade has slowly taken the reigns as the bootleg master. Here he puts the epic vocals of his huge hit 'Sorry' and throws it over one of Avicii's first hits 'Bom'. Once again, this is another bootleg that is perfect for DJ sets! Download it for free by pressing the down arrow on the SoundCloud player.

"I Want You to Come... Over to My House, Now." Last Friday was April Fool's night at 285 Kent - as in, you're a fucking fool if you didn't come . Weird Magic 's Rezzie joined by Sasha Des'ree (of Sweat) opening up for Dutch Treat , LA BIG VIC and Friends . Notable further still were the epically fun sets by DJ's Etienne and Jan Woo. 'Twas truly a Bushwick family affair for all ages, shapes and sizes. Samantha, lead voxist in Friends, [...]

the easybeats - "sorry" (download) Apparently, George Young, the rhythm guitarist for Australian garage rockers The Easybeats , is AC/DC guitarist Angus Young' s older brother. These guys were mostly popular in the mid-to-late 602s, and had one hit, entitled " Friday on My Mind ," which was covered by David Bowie on his Pin Ups album. They were managed by a real estate agent at the time. These guys have basked in relative obscurity over [...]

Last week a softball (that I didn't catch) hit my glove then grazed my lip and took some BBQ flesh with it to the ground. It mad hurts to eat, any suggestions? Luckily listening to music has nothing to do with the mouth. Straight to the ears. Here's a handful of great tracks I've been listenin' to while waiting to exhale. First up we got our friends Princeton with a sweet new single to give you a taste of what they got coming up. They're also playing some shows [...]

I love listening to different music from around the world, but one of the blocks of this is finding good bands. They've all got their own pop music stuff, and some of it's okay, but must of it sounds the same, album after album. Luckily, every once in a while you get a gem like Korea's Sorri . Listening to artist interpret Bossa Nova outside South America is super rad. Sorri combines Bossa Nova with a happy feeling pop on her 2nd album called Mingle . She carries the familiar Bossa tone in [...]

Transformers star Josh Duhamel was kicked off a plane in New York after he refused to turn off his mobile phone before it took off, according to US reports. Duhamel, who is married to Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, was sat onboard the flight from LaGuardia Airport to Kentucky using his BlackBerry phone before take-off, TMZ.com reports. When a flight attendant asked the actor to turn his phone off, Duhamel refused and allegedly became 'very rude' and began 'taunting the attendant' one passenger told TMZ. The drama unfolded after Duhamel was reportedly asked to switch off his phone three [...]

Forgot to post this amazing James Blake cover a while back and the radio keeps giving me gentle reminders - so this is for all you who haven't heard a future genius-in-the-making. Matthew Herbert 's album has also been getting a few late-to-the-game spins and 'Leipzig' is a highlight. Finally, Justus Kohncke and Alexis 'Hot Chip' Taylor have churned out a cracking wee tune with 'Sorry'. Listen ♫ : James Blake - Limit To Your Love (Feist Cover) ← ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ [...]

So, obviously you were on the edge of your seat wondering what 5 releases could possibly top the quality we hit you with yesterday. Well, fear not my friends. Here's the cream of the Hali crop for you to enjoy. As a special treat, while you digest these gems you can think about some of the fantastic stuff due out next year and start saving cash for new records from DUZHEKNEW, Jon Mckiel, Old Man Luedecke and many more. As a music fan in his mid-thirties, there's something comforting about seeing silverbacks jump on stage, turn up the amps and fist pump through huge chorus after huge chorus. It's no secret that most of today's musicians are fueled by apathy, irony and self loathing and it might be hard to believe, but this wasn't always the case. Not too long ago people actually wanted to dance, sing along and leave a show sweat soaked and alive, instead of standing at the back nodding along more concerned with incoming texts. Thankfully, there are a few acts happy [...]
Kanye West didn't back out of his already scheduled performance on Jay Leno's first show last night. In fact, he sat down with the host and apologized again for snatching the microphone from Taylor Swift. My take on all of this? I think it was the booze talking (we all know how it can make us do stupid things), and I think the guy is genuinely sorry - or he wouldn't say he was. Kanye [...]

I have set up some smart filters in my inbox now, and that's how I found back this one. The email arrived during my holiday, disappeared for me, and was luckily found again (see my apology below). It included some very nice popmusic from a Swedish band called Solander . Solander is Fredrik Karlsson backed up by various people mostly from the Malmö underground scene, sometimes a full band and other times only a single cellist. The project has existed since 2005, and Karlsson has made music [...]
