Today I have a few new videos that I'd like to mention for different reasons. NOTE: I wanted to include a video by Violens , but it includes a warning about seizures at the beginning and I'd hate for you to associate Violent Success with seizures, but Spinner ? Fuck 'em. So if you like strobe lights and wanna see it, you can watch it there . First, we love Hooray For Earth here at VS. So basically any [...]

Lionel Richie has been on my mind this week. A lot. Not just because I've been writing a piece about him for my Sound and Vision column at OurStage. He's been in my head because everywhere I go, his songs seem to be blaring in my ears. Lately, unexpectedly, he's been all over the radio in Thailand, with tracks from Tuskegee , his recent No. 1 album featuring duets with top country stars on his golden oldies, as well as the original versions of some of those golden oldies. The only Richie songs on [...]
Listen to Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros new song "Mother" , from their album "Here" . As we edge ever-nearer to the release date of Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros new album "Here" we're beginning to hear more and more from the album. Just in the last few weeks we've heard "That's What's Up" and "Man On Fire" , and today the guys over at Spinner have premiered [...]

According to Spinner , Lily Allen is in the studio working on her third album. There was no word on the hiatus that Lily Allen was taking and she seemed to have disappeared completely from the pop scene for a minute there. Reportedly, she has been seen coming out of the studios by sources. Let's hope its true. Related articles What Do You Think of Lily Allen's New Look? Filed under: Monthly Mixtape Flickr March is over. The trees are budding early, the flowers are blooming into a bounty of spring colors, Valdimir Putin is the president of Russia again, Rush Limbaugh called a respectable human being a "slut" and the earth ticks ever closer to the end of times. So what better way to await the arrival of the alien drone destroyers than this kick-ass mixtape. After you buy extra water and batteries, unplug [...]

Wow, it seems like it has been forever since I last did this. When we posted Disco Friday #5, it was 2011, I was currently living in the United States, and I didn't start my studies at Kings College London. But even with all this change, there is something that I can always depend on to stay constant...and those are the great nu-disco tracks that I manage to find on soundcloud week after week. In this weeks edition of Disco Friday I've decided to include a plethora of bangers from up and coming artists such as Kreap [...]
You're probably hanging out with family around this time, or maybe you're hiding out in your room away from them like I'm currently doing. From us to all of you, happy holidays.

I've lived in Pittsburgh for almost eight years now, and it's a decision that I can honestly say I've never regretted. I love this city. I love its crazy roads, obscene colloquialisms (Jag Off!), awesome food and legendary record stores. I also love its cinematic history, mostly because it's so weird. Sure, we got George A. Romero's zombie flicks to lay claim too, but the greater Pittsburgh also played hosts to classics like The Deer Hunter and Flashdance , as well as "classics" such as Sudden Death, Striking Distance and Stigmata. You know what's the best thing to do if there's rumours circulating about a young woman suffering from cancer? Be like Spinner and ask people what they reckon about it : Adele's throat surgery leads to cancer rumors. Do you buy it? I think we'd be generous by describing that as "a little misjudged". -- Visit No Rock & Roll Fun to comment, complain and kvetch

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Lauren Dukoff Yep, it's time for CMJ , aka five nights of running -- or stumbling, on occasion -- around New York City, bouncing from show to show and most likely staying up way too late. We've brought you 78 free MP3s and a 101-song Spotify playlist , and now here's our list of bands we'll be checking out this week, even if it means cutting you [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Getty Images (5) The annual CMJ festival in New York City is one of a kind. For four days, over 900 bands will be rocking venues across the boroughs for a truly unique listening experience. But there's no way you'll be able to see all your favorite bands over the course of Oct. 18-22, so Spinner is bringing you the very best of this year's CMJ lineup with our [...]
This morning, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame announced its nominees for 2012 induction. This year, we've got some intriguing new names on the list, including Guns N' Roses, the Cure, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eric B. & Rakim, and Joan Jett And The Blackhearts. It also includes a few artists who have previously been nominated, including the Beastie Boys and Donna Summer. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after releasing a single or album, and only eight of the 15 nominees will actually make it into the Hall. And as silly as this whole [...]

The nominees for the 2012 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced today and there are slew of deserving candidates. Alt-rock pioneers The Cure, hip-hop duo Eric B. and Rakim, punk-rock outfit Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and rock warriors Guns 'N' Roses are all first-time nominees, while Beastie Boys and Red Hot Chili Peppers, both of who were first nominated last year, are again in contention. Sadly, LL Cool J did not receive the committee's love for a second consecutive year. The full list of eligible candidates is posted below. A committee of 500 voters [...]

Last month we gave you the latest single from Extra Arms , " Powerlessness ". They now have a video out for the song. It was the "Video of the Day" on Spinner.com on Wednesday. The video depicts a man who is, essentially, powerless in making the relationship with his girlfriend last. Dave Yang, singer-guitarist of Extra Arms, tells Spinner that, as a friend, there is isn't much one can do for a friend who is going through a rough breakup to ease the pain other than "simply be there" for that friend. The video represents the [...]
