Borrowing rhythmic inspiration from early U2 and stirring it with the melodic rumble of solo-era Bob Mould , the Static Jacks bust out of New Jersey with their single, “Relief.” Born in Jersey on a Saturday night in 2009, the Static Jacks are singer Ian Devaney, guitarists Henry Kaye and Michael Sue-Poi and Nick Brennan. Cutting their own unique swath of noise in an increasingly noisy world of indie rock, the Jacks painted their first EP, Laces , shortly after they started jamming together. An independent entity in the truest sense of the word, the foursome [...]

Despite what some of you may say, EVERYONE loves a KISS song. One of our favorite New Jersey rock bands, The Static Jacks , recorded a cover of the legendary band's "I Was Made For Loving You" for their fans as an early Halloween present (yes, we're totally down with Halloween presents and we want one from you too). Check out the song below and download it for free! Stay tuned to www.thestaticjacks.com for updates on the band's new LP ...

This week-end, courtesy of Heard , Paper Box is partying itself into fall with two sweet six-act line-ups in two days - nice one! After a hip hop showcase on Friday, you get as Saturday's (9.29) headliners Brooklyn notorious art-punk duo Japanther (who, on Halloween, will be opening for The Misfits!), sharing the spotlight with recent Deli NYC 'Artist of the Month' Team Spirit , and Unstoppable Death Machines , another mighty pair, who came crashing onto the radar in August with the release of their full-length ' We Come In Peace '. Also [...]
We're starting to try and get back into things over here. It's summer, and we're hot and tired. However, our good friends at BreakThru Radio haven't stopped for a second. They've brought tons of great acts out, like The Static Jacks (above).

Former keyboardist for Passion Pit, Ayad Al Adhamy, certainly knows how to keep a room entertained. His Brooklyn/Boston based band Team Spirit played The Studio at Webster Hall on Tuesday, August 30th. Openers, Static Jacks and Beast Make Bomb (who celebrated their farewell show) set the right atmosphere, starting off the night with a lot of raw energy and catchy hooks. But Adhamy's scratchy whine and his band's punchy material succeeded in the most challenging of tasks: getting a NYC crowd to bounce to the tunes. With fast-paced punk/pop melodies, the band was completely [...]

A band that shines live, like TSJ do, is so rarely able to capture that energy, that raw ache, that their live sound has when they get to the studio. Well...the Static Jacks aren’t just any band and their new EP, Spray Tan, proves it. [...]
frontpage_features: On April 27th, The Static Jacks played Pittsburgh's Club AE in support of The Wombats . The show was amazing and we were there with our cameras to prove it! [...]

If you listen hard enough, there's a subversive side to the Wombats ' infectious guitar pop. But you'd never know it from the energy Tuesday night at the El Rey Theatre, where the Liverpool trio gave a show that was all about exuberance. The tunes from the band's sophomore album "This Modern Glitch" might as well have been caffeine for the young crowd, which warmed up with sets from New jersey's the Static Jacks and SoCal quintet the Neighbourhood , the latter of whom were playing their first proper L.A. show to an audience peppered with [...]

Brit pop, sweaty hair flying, and dancing filled The El Rey Theatre Tuesday evening. Everyone seems to be buzzing about the first opener The Neighbourhood with record executives in the house ready to sign. Static Jacks have been touring with its girlfriend The Wombats for many months and frontman Ian Devaney owns the stage. Screams for "Tokyo" were directed at Liverpool's The Wombats almost as soon as they walked out on stage. The tight trio have released only two studio albums, but have many hits and many fans who lined up early to [...]
Your jam-packed Tuesday: ► It's that time of the month — BuzzBands LA's SecondTuesday Songwriter night at Lot 1 Cafe features performances by Taylor Locke & the Roughs (in a special acoustic setup with strings), Davis Fetter , Sarah Winters and the debut of solo material by Michael Goldman of Chasing Kings . ► U.K.'s the Wombats headline the El Rey Theatre [that's their video for "Jump Into the Fog" above] with the Static Jacks opening. However, extra early arrival is strongly [...]

"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." -Willy Wonka The Big Pink - "Lose Your Mind" Dr. Dog singer/bassist Toby Leaman is one sadistic dude. Why else would he kidnap and torture his entire band? But I guess on the grand scale of torturing people, getting flour and confetti thrown in your face isn't exactly like spending a weekend at Guantanamo Bay. Finn Riggins – “Plural” Here, Finn Riggins entice you to come and see the wonders of Idaho [...]
Another week of rock and roll... Because sleep is totally overrated. Thursday, May 3rd Sophie Barker (of Zero 7) at Red Devil Lounge Sia may have been the first solo artist to break out of Zero 7, but Sophia Barker is more than ready to step up to the plate. She sang lead on what is [...]

By Emilia D'Albero When The Wombats’ last show at Webster Hall in October ended in thunderous applause and shrill cheers, it was clear that they would definitely be back again soon to shake the venue with bouncing bass riffs and catchy synth melodies. Last Thursday, The Wombats did indeed return to New York City- to Webster Hall again, in fact- and elicited perhaps even more excited and intense reactions from the audience than they had in October. Even before doors ...
Last year at one of our CMJ parties, New Jerseys Static Jacks tore the place up. With their onstage energy and outright dirty guitars the place was electric. Today they've offered up a brand new track and video to accompany the track titled "Young Guns". It's set to feature on their forthcoming EP Spray Tan which was recorded entirely in a friends converted storage space which adds some interesting sounds to the track with production credits going to Andrew Maury. Peep the video up at the top via CoS as we await more [...]

New Jersey tends to get a bad rap as a place to live. As a source for music, however, it's a well-known bastion of quality (see: Bruce Springsteen, The Fugees, The Gaslight Anthem). Last year, the four gents of The Static Jacks contributed their first full-length, If You're Young , to the Garden State's musical canon. The album is an energetic blend of garage and indie sounds; it has all the fire of punk, with the polish and movability of poppier rock. With their new EP, Spray Tan (well, they are from Jersey), [...]
Ever wondered what would happen if you let a guitar band loose in a furniture shop? Watch below as New Jersey's Static Jacks get to do exactly that at Mona Liza Fine Furniture in Brooklyn, playing 'My Parents Lied'. Drummer Nick Brennan even takes one for the team, using a rubbish bin as a replacement for his usual skins. Don't go "wasting time", hurry up and go watch the video. The band are currently on the road in North America supporting their previous tour buddies the Wombats. [...]

Washington DC - No matter how good a concert, there is always a little hole in my heart when my other half (aka Celeste) is not with me. The size of the hole grows larger the more danceable (or, in our case of limited dance skillz, wiggle-inducing) the music. Last night’s concert, featuring The Static Jacks and The Wombats ripped my heart in two. These bands were sooooo good live and their music is irresistibly catchy. First up were The Static Jacks who did what any good band does: gets on-stage and rocks out hard with [...]

Feisty and fun, New Jersey-based alt rockers The Static Jacks have an exciting Spring coming up as they embark on tour with The Wombats. Beginning next Monday, April 23, the two bands begin at the nation's capitol and head West. In conjunction with their tour, NYC's The Static Jacks have made their new single, "Young Guns" (streaming below) available as a sample of their forthcoming EP, "Spray Tan." Channeling their recognizable New Wave-Indie rock energy, the track gives listeners a taste of anticipated new material. Be sure to check out their tour schedule to catch them with The [...]
