A warm welcome back to the "classic love song", I've missed you so much and oh well, I can still cry, get sentimental and lay my head on my shoulder, like always moves you, right? Revolver 's " Still " is so classic and heartwarming and not kitchy at all. A perfect balancing act. " Still " is taken from the new album Let Go , out on March 12 in France and Spring 2012 in the rest of the world. The video was put together by Samy La Famille using footage from [...]
It didn't take long for Justin Peroff to come up with a new gig after Broken Social Scene called it quits last year. He's teamed up with Dave Hamelin and Liam O'Neil of The Stills to form Eight And A Half . The band's self-titled debut full length comes out on April 10th. Check out the video for the first single "Scissors": Here's the track list: When I Was Twenty [...]
In September we toasted the best new bands of 2011 . Bright futures for those guys! But come this time of year it's also important to remember the musical groups who called it a day. Some of these acts were taken from us before their time, while others imploded due to overwhelming apathy. Herewith our look at all of them, good and bad and who? . Thanks again to Matt Neatock for the video production assistance. Please hold your applause until the end. Read More...
Filed under: News , Video , RPM , New Music Canvas Media Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene have spawned countless musical projects from their 20-odd members, but drummer Justin Peroff never had an alternative to Kevin Drew and co. Now that BSS are on hiatus, Peroff has ventured beyond side dish territory with Eight and a Half , a new endeavor that stands as the drummer's main project. [...]

A Canadian band the we saw open for Echo & the Bunnymen that had such a brilliant live show. This track, as well as the entire album "Logic Will Break Your Heart" is just great. The Stills - Still In Love Song Click the image below to get more of The Stills through Amazon!
Filed under: News , Exclusive , RPM , New Music , New Releases Arts & Crafts While killing pints at a cozy pub in Toronto's funky Kensington Market, Broken Social Scene drummer Justin Peroff reveals a bumper sticker slogan he thought up while touring with the storied indie rock collective. "I wanted to get one that said, 'My other band is a trio,'" he jokes with Spinner's RPM. [...]

Something For Someone is more along the lines of something for anyone who loves melody and a soft, folksy sound to relax and melt into after a long day. The album is six tracks of dreamy folk pop out of Gainesville, Florida based And The Giraffe. What? Florida? Oh yeah. "Underground Love" opens up Something For Someone with a statement, poignant sounds providing canvas for Nick Roberts' soft vocals, the atmosphere and style not unlike indie darling Bon Iver. "Still" bookends this 23 minute EP with a warm, wandering sound and a different vocalist - [...]

Sometimes a piece of music simply comes at the right time, with the quality or indeed cultural relevance of the piece becoming ultimately meaningless. That's not to say that this new cut of ambient art from Escalier has no artistic merit, for from it, more that its relevance to me is perfectly married to what I need from music at the moment. The piece itself is a simple evolution of sound; it paradoxically blends warm and cold textures, resulting in a piece that embodies the season. It really will make you pause, consider and rebuild. Luna asta vă propunem una din trupele alea despre care mulți spun că nu sună români, în cel mai bun mod. Vă convngeți voi singuri de ce, dacă nu i-ați auzit deja pe la radio. Fresh out the kitchen, we bring you the official video for Treetop Flyers ' "It's About Time". It documents their summer adventures on the road during which they played Glastonbury and won the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition. Their harmonies, which hint at a Crosby, Stills and Nash influence on the band, carry throughout most of the track and the black and white footage really helps bring the viewer back to the good ol' days. *MP3: Eight And A Half - "Scissors" One part The Stills, the other Broken Social Scene, Eight And A Half came flying out of the gates with Scissors . With vague plans to release an LP in early 2012, the band remains off the grid for now. Hope to hear more soon.

There have certainly been some truly awful spin-offs in the entertainment business: Baywatch Nights , Joanie Loves Chachi , Saved by the Bell: the College Years , and lastly and definitely least, Joey . Now, less than six months after the breakup of Canadian indie-rockers The Stills , former members Dave Hamelin and Liam O'Neil are attempting to right all the wrongs of former spin-offs by teaming up with Broken Social Scene drummer Justin Peroff for a new band titled Eight and a Half. Naturally, the project shares the same name as [...]
After a rather quiet two year hiatus, the Sacramento-based band, Ganglians, have returned with their aptly-titled sophomore album, "Still Living". Encompassing what seems to be a well-told story, conveyed by lead singer Ryan Grubbs, the listener embarks on a nostalgic journey through a time machine to an earlier era comprised of pop hits by the Beach Boys, and other groups of the similar genre. The twelve-song compilation begins with "Call Me," a fun track bound to make those within listening distance feel like they are by the ocean surrounded by several strumming guitarists doing the dance, "the swim". [...]
"They're setting fire to the ocean", Yukon Blonde warn us. Now, barring the oil-spill-lightning-strike scenario, this is probably figurative language of the suspend-the-laws-of-physics-th e-world-is-melting type. The stakes are, as they recently seem to be, high. As a point of clarification, or simply to up the ante, the band closes its list of things that are being set ablaze with the chilling

For most Americans, Fourth of July is an important day - it's the American holiday, and many people look to it as the official kick-off to the summer season (even though summer began on June 22). Weekend at Burnie's dropped June 28 and it's full of slow burning, whistling tracks. His video releases have been smoky, smooth and "Still" follows the aesthetic. In the video they're chiefing blunts, joints and wearing New York Jets jackets. Spitta is sporting a marijuana leaf cap. He's not very subtle. The track has whining highs, driving lows and lighter clicks. Curren$y 's street album is a sweet addition to his catalog, pick it up, in the meantime, watch "Still". It'll make you wish you had a rapper lifestyle. Hit the skip to view the [...]
