Telograph is an up and coming band from Washington, DC. While they are known around the region for being really nice guys, they are also a really solid band with some pretty catchy songs. They write the kind of songs that you want to hear over and over and have stuck in your head for days. We asked them to do this, because we wanted you to know about them before everybody else starts mentioning their name. There are definitely indications that big things lie ahead for them, because they play The Patriot Center mere days [...]
December is always a bit of a hectic month. Lots of Christmas shopping, parties, and the like, plus the year end specials, lists, New Year's parties. One year I drank every day of December because there was just too much going on. I don't think I'm going to match that this year but it's going to be close. There are some damn fine shows in December as well so that should clot the schedule even further. Here's what I'm looking forward to so far. What are you looking forward to? Free Shows (err show, what's up where's all [...]

In this post I'll re-post some of the songs I've mentioned before in the blog or simply some of the stuff I've found that I find interesting, but have no time to write about. None of the songs are hosted by Myspace, which quickly is turning into a crappy service! IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED IF YOU'D CHECK OUT THE REST OF THIS BLOG, ONCE YOU'VE DOWNLOADED THE SONGS YOU WANT..... + Aberdeen City - God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me + [...]

The Streets (aka Mike Skinner) And I'm doing nothing . So, I thought I might as well let you in on what's going down, and in return you'll get a handy dandy mix at the end. Slutty Fringe is my blog of the week. They put up some classy songs over there, for real. Uh, the Tigers won. Hells yeah. That means the Yankees lost, in case you haven't paid attention at all. Chris at GvB explains it much better [...]
TV On The Radio It's official: I'm madly in love with TV On The Radio 's Return To Cookie Mountain. Don't have it yet? Buy it . Minus The Bear are playing at the Emerson October 18th ( P.O.S , The Velvet Teen , and Russian Circles are opening). Check it out if you're in the Indy area. Pitchfork gave Sam's Town a 5.9 . Ouch. Why is everyone running around acting like the new Kasabian record is Sam's Town Volume 2 ? I got a copy of it last week and I quite enjoy it. I think it's on par with their debut record (three or four killer songs, one or two other decent tunes and the rest kind of meh). From the reviews I read I expected a trainwreck of epic proportions, but nothing could be further from the case. Also, the two songs they've picked for singles are two of the weaker tracks on the [...]

The Stills are currently on tour with another Montreal band, Land Of Talk . The bands recently collaborated on a track called Monsoon that I'm going to be moving to the top of my 'pod rotation. Fortunately I get to post it here so you can check it out as well. I've covered The Stills before when I was on my old url - you may remember me mentioning how I listened over and over again to Logic Will Break Your Heart [...]

It doesn't feel right to introduce "Monsoon" as a b-side. True, it doesn't appear on their latest cd, so immediately it has to go in the b-side and/or rarity category. My problem with calling "Monsoon" a b-side, is that it's a pretty damn good tune. It was originally recorded a few months back with the help of fellow Montreal musicians, Land of Talk. "Monsoon" continues the musical progression of the band that started with Without Feathers. No longer stuck strictly in minor keys, The Stills use a more traditional melodic structure. It finds them defining that sound as well as [...]

Holy shizzzzz! That Jets vs. Colts ending was insanity. I was standing, screaming at the TV. Peyton Manning is the master of the 2 minute drill, but the Colts really didn't deserve to win that game. The Jets did just about everything right (to beat the Colts), and still lost. Joseph Arthur - Enough To Get Away T.O. played as Dallas crushed the Titans. The big news, other than T.O., was the Titans starting Vince Young, but it was a [...]
In the short course of two albums and various EPs The Stills have done their share of polarizing. Those fans that loved 2003's Logic Will Break Your Heart (an album in which the band was constantly compared to Interpol ) seem to view this year's Without Feathers as a sell out of enormous proportions. My view is not so harsh. I do imagine that the change in sound was due in part to the constant Interpol comparisons, but I see the reaction as a healthy one. I also love a good pop tune [...]

Isn't Sunday supposed to be a day of rest? Final day and what a day it will be. Starting at 11:45, labeled as a "marching band gone wild", Anathallo makes music using almost anything and have a sound that mixes the Polyphonic Spree with The Arcade Fire. If you are easy like Sunday morning, see Rocky Votolato , a Seattle based songwriter with a that you expect to hear coming out of your local coffeehouse. In the [...]
