SULK 's "Graceless" is one of the Albums of the Year. It is going to take a massive effort from anyone out there to keep it from being The Album of the Year. I initially balked at the thought of writing a review for "Graceless". However, when albums this good come around, I feel obligated to [...] The post Review: SULK - Graceless appeared first on Your Music Is Awful.com .
“Oh, bloody hell,” fans of The Stone Roses will shout after reading this book, for several reasons: First, how could the band fritter away being the second coming of the Beatles, having the ego, talent and drive to pull it off? How could they make such horrible decisions on the business side? How could they let interpersonal issues spoil their good thing – after all, even Pink Floyd was able to punch out a big stack of classic studio albums despite the members’ open contempt for each other. In many ways, it’s the archetypical rock fable: Big talent, big potential [...]

For the first time since their cashback, sorry, comeback, it's possible to feel sorry for The Stone Roses: They've got Liam Gallagher troubles : A source close to both camps said: “It’s all gone a bit sour recently with Liam and The Roses. There was an ugly incident in Dubai when Liam said a few things that were totally out of order. It didn’t go down well at all. “Ian, John and Reni are all low-profile lads and don’t subscribe to aggro of any sort. “They were also getting a little bit p***ed [...]

By now most people have seen that Leonard Cohen was awarded Artist of the Year at this year’s Juno Awards, beating out Carly Rae Jepsen, deadmau5, and most importantly, the almighty Justin Bieber. Of course, immediately following the award came ... Continue reading The post Leonard Cohen is not Justin Bieber. Thank God for That. appeared first on Your Music Is Awful.com .

Since we were on the subject yesterday, why let a great decade go now? So here's yet another '90s list and possibly my most random one ever. 1. "No Scrubs" TLC (1994) My favorite girl group of the '90s (followed by En Vogue, SWV, Brownstone, Total, Zhane and Xscape, with Destiny's Child bringing up the rear by the end of the decade) was always more consistent than its fellow '90s sisters with voices, who were, for the most part, better on the singles scene than they were in long-term relationships. In other words, their hits [...]

Our intrepid, heat-resistant reporters spanned both weekends of this year's Coachella to bring you a look at the (no exaggeration) epic music festival from the comfort of your own laptop. While the bros and the... let's say "overmedicated" crowds can sometimes be deterrents to enjoying the weekend, ultimately, you're there for the music. And there is something for everyone. Here are our highlights, with special thanks to Doug Levy, Liat Kriegel, and Dan Busta . Jonsi of Sigur Ros. Photo credit: [...]
Peel back the surface and look past the picturesque valley backdrop. Forget about the gorgeous, sun-kissed young folk wearing next to nothing (or, on occasion, nothing). Go ahead and ignore the ridiculous hippie art splattering the landscape. Once you get past everything that suggests Coachella is a legit wonderful place, reality sets in. You're in hell. Everything pretty or fun is undercut by a physical reminder that you're in the desert, and the desert is no place for human life. Read More...

British label A.FOUR, in collaboration with CASH CA designer Kazuki Kuraishi, have introduced this exclusive and, quite interesting, bucket hat. Inspired by the ever popular Manchester rock band's lead singer Ian Brown, this eye-catching hat features black, white, and blue paint spatters covering it's solid green, nylon DiAPLEX foundation. But what really sets it off , are the post-modern, almost three dimensional, lemon accents. Pick it up exclusively via museum neu store in Japan. -Jordan Beliles

Anna Isola Crolla If you were thinking that Friday meant another housecleaning, link-aggregating post - this time from all points abroad - then you are correct. You get a cookie. From someone else. I have no cookies to give. Nor do I technically have the new single from Camera Obscura to give, since it's not mine to allocate, but since it was rolled out in streamable form to the internet earlier this week, I can certainly point you to it. It comes from their forthcoming fifth album Desire Lines , and while it's [...]

Blur 's strong performance at last week's Coachella festival has resulted in a last minute headliner swap-out with the Stone Roses at the second leg of the event this weekend. It probably didn't help that most festival attendees didn't have the slightest clue as to who the Stone Roses actually were, reports from their set indicated a very thin crowd. Both camps have been silent on the changeover but you can be sure that Ian Brown will be mouthing off about it sooner rather than later. [via Rolling Stone ]

Coachella have announced the set and stage times for this weekend's second outing, following on from the festival's launch last week. Among the notable changes are that Biffy Clyro look to have pulled out, while Blur will replace Stone Roses as headliners of the Friday leg. You can check out the full schedule of events below, while we also recommend having a glance at Danny Devito's Coachella tweets from last weekend . [...]
