By Kevin Seaman Two weekends ago, the hippies of the Northeast flocked all the way uptown to the opulent United Palace Theater for the String Cheese Incident's first New York performances since 2007. The last few years for the band have been relatively quiet tour-wise, but by no means have they been lying dormant. Their last major U.S. Tour took place in 2006 with stops in 40 U.S. cities from June through December including two shows in...

String Cheese Incident @ United Palace Theater - December 3 Photos : Jeremy Gordon Words : Brian Bavosa After four-and-a-half years away from the Big Apple, the String Cheese Incident finally returned to New York City for a two-night run uptown at the United Palace this past weekend. Following the formula of several bands in our scene over the past years, SCI took time off the road in recent years before regrouping for smaller runs and mini-tours as of late. As this weekend proved, and especially the Saturday [...]
This week in NYC, the live music scene calms down a bit with much slimmer pickings than the last few weeks. But there's still some good stuff to sink your teeth into...

In honor of The String Cheese Incident's first full tour firing up next weekend in Asheville, we are featuring a classic show from the still-yet-to-be-reopened Saenger Theatre in 2000. This SCI/Bela Fleck twin bill was a Superfly Presents production pre-dating the locally born entertainment company's big jumping off point in 2002 when they helped create [...]

Tickets for all four Midwest shows go on sale Wednesday, [...]

Despite having played intermittent festival dates over the past few years, including a well-regarded late-night set at this year's Bonnaroo , it's been a good four years since jam band legends The String Cheese Incident have gone on a multi-city headlining tour. Well, sigh no more, SCI fans. This fall, the prolific group will be hitting the road for a nine-date tour that hopes to capitalize on the momentum they've built up from their sporadic performances, both on their own and at festivals. The outing has been dubbed the "Roots Run Deep Tour," of which [...]

The boys in String Cheese Incident just announced their first official tour dates since their set of shows last year around a few key events in a few key markets. This time around the band is staying out of their usual haunts... After several years away from life on the road, we are really excited to finally get back on the bus and bring an Incident to a town near you. It's been really amazing to step back into the many great events we have had a chance to be part [...]

Nestled within the pristine surroundings of Rothbury, MI's Double JJ Resort, newcomers to the area could not have expected the transformation that would take place over the extended Fourth of July Holiday. True, the resort held the previous Rothbury festivals, but with bill toppers Bassnectar, Skrillex, Edward Sharpe, and Pretty Lights, Electric Forest Festival brought a considerably different audience than the jam-band heavy editions of Rothbury. However, as in year's past, the cornerstone of the festival is the highly decorated Sherwood Forest. Holding a small stage, Sherwood Forest was also packed with hammocks available to the masses, an [...]

This years 'Arch' donned lights, a disco ball, and a giant hat and feather to celebrate Bonnaroo's 10 years of magic Saturday at Bonnaroo started out being pretty mellow. Which is a good thing, because going to bed at 5:30 and having the intense sun and heat wake you up at 8:30 really takes a toll on you. So the WESTLACNCT crew decided to take it easy for a bit and head into Centeroo around 3:30 to see Black Uhuru , an old school Jamaican reggae band, play on the [...]
Beer and musicians generally mix like silicone and Dolly Parton; while they appear to be drawn to each other, they should really be separated for their own sake. It takes a rare breed of musician to enthusiastically embrace all things hoppy without losing the beat. By all appearances, Kyle Hollingsworth has managed to just that. The String Cheese Incident keyboardist has been an avid homebrewer for years, and now he's decided to release his creation to the public. Dubbed Hoopla, it's set to be tapped on May 14 at the Boulder Beer Brewery in [...]
In the world of Bonnaroo , late night sets are almost as important as the headliner's. There is, after all, nothing like hitting This Tent at 2:30 AM for your 14th straight hour of live music even though the only thing in your belly is some grilled cheese and a make-shift vodka and Redbull. While the festival's complete day-by-day schedule is still forthcoming, Bonnaroo has revealed this year's late night acts. They are as followed: Lil Wayne, Girl Talk, STS9, Big Boi, String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, Dr. John with the Original Meters and Allen Toussaint performing [...]

Colorado-based jammers String Cheese Incident played their first show of 2011 last night at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, CO as part of the group's Winter Carnival. SCI bassist Keith Moseley mentioned that the band would dust off a number of tunes they hadn't performed since going on hiatus in 2007 in an interview with HT earlier this month and String Cheese lived up to Moseley's word by including the previously shelved Suntan, Cottonmouth, Big Shoes and Ramble On in the setlist. [All [...]
