Lionel Richie has been on my mind this week. A lot. Not just because I've been writing a piece about him for my Sound and Vision column at OurStage. He's been in my head because everywhere I go, his songs seem to be blaring in my ears. Lately, unexpectedly, he's been all over the radio in Thailand, with tracks from Tuskegee , his recent No. 1 album featuring duets with top country stars on his golden oldies, as well as the original versions of some of those golden oldies. The only Richie songs on [...]

There were few greater things in childhood than popcorn. Popcorn was a foodstuff that you ate at the movies or a basketball game. Pretzels, potato chips and their ilk might be in the pantry at home, but popcorn was not such a common nosh. Popcorn was an event. I was likely munching on popcorn as King Kong ascended to the top of the Twin Towers and, later that same winter, when Rocky almost upset Apollo Creed for the heavyweight title. Popcorn meant spectacle. Of course, there [...]

The new year always brings massive periods of reflection for me. Not only do we all start a new chapter, but I have a January birthday, so I'm looking ahead and acknowledging my past simultaneously. I assess where I want to be, areas of life to improve and lessons to keep in my back pocket. I've always been an extremely deep thinker, and music significantly marks and highlights different seasons on my life. Blind I is making some exciting changes this year and it's beginning with revamping the way we approach our compilations. I [...]

the KELLY CLARKSON 's recent Twitter endorsement of Republican Presidential candidate, RON PAUL, has hit a sour note with her fans and some have gone as far as calling the CLARKSON a homophobe. in her defense, the CLARKSON should come out, set the record straight and announce wot a few of us have known for a while now; that she's in a lesbian relationship with her stylist. that's all from me for the 011 as now i'm out to celebrate NYE in Melbtown. see you in the 012 .. It's no secret that we're huge fans of the legendary Annie Lennox , we're always posting flashbacks over on Facebook (If you don't already 'like' us over there you should, we post lots of random bits!) and generally celebrating how great she is. If you are lucky enough to live in London you should make it your business to head down to the Victoria and Albert museum to see The House Of Lennox the free Annie Lennox exhibition that opened this week and [...]
Maar ook You Make Me Feel Brand New kent iedereen wel, net als You Are Everything.

Are You Ready? - Fatty Gets A Stylist get set :

Ready to get extremely jealous that you aren't a celebrity stylist (if you weren't already?) Vans have made an exclusive collection of slip-ons using the patterns from stylist Robert Verdi' favourite Hermès silk scarves. The results are these casual yet indulgent shoes that will probably never get worn (what a shame!) only photographed to make us swoon. Checkout more of the beautiful shoes after the jump. [...]

After a little wander round at New York's Opening Ceremony, Kanye West's personal stylist Cassius Clay singled out two pieces from the special Kitsuné OC collection (for Fall-Winter 2010) as his favourite pieces of the showroom. Cassius Clays loves Kitsuné Cable Sweater & Kitsuné Solid Button Jacket (available on our webstore) Shop at Opening Ceremony [...]

The two soul Christmas mixes focussed on soul from the 1960s and '70s. This mix, the third for Christmas, covers mostly the era from the 1980s to the present (I think the Sweet Divines' version of Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday is the most recent recording on this mix). One song, I'll Be Home For Christmas, is represented twice here, but in two very different versions. The packed file includes a front and back cover, and the mix is timed, as always to fit on a standard CD-R (plus a bonus track, which wouldn't fit on the [...]

Mary J. Blige released the track Everything back in '97, written and produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis . It was off Blige's third album, Share My World , and sampled You Are Everything by The Stylistics and The Payback by James Brown . It also includes vocal re-interpolations of Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto . Point being, Mary's Everything would be nothing with without its counterparts. And might I add, the pairing is [...]

Right around when I started going to college, I heard of the infamous sneaker collector / fashionisto (as far as this Hypebeast culture is concerned) Dizzy , or Josh as I know him. I remember his MySpace celebrity status was at 100 trillion; flicks of shoeboxes stacked to the ceiling and rare, impossible-to-find gear that people who didn't know much about streetwear but were always somewhat intrigued by the lifestyle would drool over (like me, I guess). I don't know much about those shoe collector forums, but I feel like he was probably some kind of legend in those [...]
