I recently cobbled together the following tracks for a world-wide mix cd exchange. I figured that it's a shame not to share these with the readers here, so here ya go. Thanks to Bekah for the original drawing which became the cover art, available here as a pdf. Happy Listening! 01. Think Long â€"— Mates of State 02. Peace & Hate â€"— The Submarines 03. Episodes (Diphenhydramine) â€"— Pela 04. Attack of the Ghost Riders â€"— The Raveonettes [...]
From the " fuck, this duo played Joe's Pub tonight and I wasn't there " files comes The Submarines , my latest boy/girl indie fix, having recently released Declare a New State! Meet Blake Hazard (the great-granddaughter of F. Scott Fitzgerald!) and John Dragonetti, our couple of the month for the month* of July (... and we'll try to make this a recurring theme). As for the music, well, look for lots from the attempted intimate (and sadly redundant) pop genre, including Hazard backing herself while experimenting with at one time, an echo chamber, and [...]

Shelley Shelley is a model, actress and singer...well now theres a surprise...plus she's a choreographer and a belly dancer...ok slightly more surprised.....and also a runner up in Miss Ireland..hmm ok, impressed. As well as all this she writes her own songs. Her MySpace site chirps on about her something like this: Shelley was introduced to Religion Music 3 years ago when she was runner up [...]
The Submarines are a husband & wife team that broke up, wrote some songs, reconciled, and now play them together. Something like that. You can read more about their history at other sites - it's good page-filler. What matters to me is that their songs shimmer. Maybe a little too much for some tastes--but many of the groups that seek harmonic perfection and surrender to the melodies they're compelled to record have been accused of making music that is "too pretty" or "overproduced." Too pretty works for my ears. The Submarines - [...]

Telephone Pole In The Rain, Duane Keiser Save It For A Rainy Day - The Jayhawks Hope - The Submarines Famous Blue Raincoat - Marissa Nadler [...]

TONIGHT: Dios Malos, The Little Ones, Submarines, Peter & The Wolf @ The Echo - $12 Aight, So I'm some what spoiled because I got to see Dios (Malos) perform at Little Radio two weeks ago during the Summer Camp/BBQ. Now I get to see them for the second time in consecutive weeks TONIGHT at The Echo. The band will be joined by a SUPERSTELLAR lineup with The Little Ones, Submarines, and Peter &
Here are some uppity duppity dates to show off your new summer skin at all those dark places throughout LA. Eventhough all these shows are Content approved we can't promise that dropping our name at the door will guarantee you access (but it is worth a try). Once these tickets go, you will be left in the dust competing with the other freshly tanned hides at the schnazzy bars among the shiny shirts
The Submarines, Declare a New State! June 20th was the magical day that The Submarines blessed this world with their new album...There is a delightful little story about these two on their site that explains how this album came about. For me to post it here seems just kind of redundant...*sigh* I feel blue this evening...So I am going to drift off to sleep... OH BUT WAIT! What did I do last
