I was planning on making a post sxsw post here on my blog but I've just been so busy I haven't gotten around to it. We did eight shows at sxsw this year and getting to all the shows proved to be the hardest part. We hitch hiked, took the bus (if it came one) and managed to "catch a Chevy". Forget about taxis.. Last day both me and Jonas bought some really cool boots. I got a pair that was exactly like my old pair but in a different color and had my old boots repaired for [...]

Last week I attended the Folk Alliance International Conference in Memphis, TN. I spent a few hectic days attending seminars, networking and playing showcases. It was a lot of fun and we met a bunch of great people there that I hope to reconnect with further down the road. It was interesting to be totally surrounded by folkies for a while. I've always counted myself into the genre but haven't quite been part of the scene if you know what I mean. Folk - being such a small genre in Sweden, I've always been a part of the [...]

I just got a great review in one of Sweden's biggest morning papers, and the rest of the world is not late on following the trend. TOANWTS is appointed the prestigious title of " Album of the Month " on renowned music blog Bluesbunny Perhaps her most interesting artistic choice however is the sound of the album this time around. Country flavoured sonic touches abound on many of the songs thus giving the album an underlying focus [...]

As most of my friends in Sweden go to bed at midnight almost all activity on fb comes to a stall at 6pm my time. So lately I've been hanging out on iRV2 instead. There's always things going on there. Like how about this thread "Possibly diet coke exploding in camper?". There's a lot to learn if you're new to RVing too. I read a lot about tires and batteries these days. A while ago we actually crafted insulation for our vents after I read about it on the forum. Comes in handy now that it's cold [...]

This particular Bavarian beat tailor has used some great samples in the past (including one great bit of dialogue from the Pulp Fiction character Mr Wolf) but this time around has chosen the voluptuous tones of beautiful Beyoncé . He utilises R'n'B carefully and conservatively, and constructs pure blissful brilliance with those elements. I first heard this guy collaborate with TOKiMONSTA and Lunice (with a little help from HudMo ) for Red Bull Music Academy last summer on the track Alpenglow , which despite being a one-off, was certainly an addictive track. [...]

When it comes to Swedish music, all you really need to know to get started is Labrador. They've got all the good stuff including the duo Det Vackra Livet , which I have no idea what means. The Duo's stuff has some 80's love with melancholy memories of the past. It's in Swedish but a really nice track. You will definitely hear more from these guys soon. Enjoy a single below! The sister Swedes of First Aid Kit , return with a new single, "The Lion's Roar". The track comes from the upcoming record of the same name. It's some gorgeous duo melodies that fit right in the background of a gunfight at an old saloon. The Lion's Roar by First Aid Kit

E - Part Four of L.O.V.E Guys! We've already reacher 41% of our goal! thanks so much for helping me get some good music out there once again! You've already heard one of the demos from the new EP, but I'm going to treat you to some more. One thing that I really like is when my fans contact me and tell me what they would like me to deliver. I can only assume you all want some good music, so it really helps me out when you share your ideas with [...]

Oh...when you call my name! Tove Styrke is a Swedish pop star. After rising to fame with a third place finish on 20092s Swedish Idol , the gorgeous 18-year-old chanteuse released her self-titled LP in 2010, featuring production by fellow Swedes Janne Kask , Peter Ågren and Patrik Berger (known best for penning last year's heaven-sent slice of sad disco, Robyn 's "Dancing On My Own.") Now, the singer has just unleashed a brand new beat: "Call My Name," an incredibly infectious electro-pop ditty again produced [...]

Oh no! It was always said swed . To rhyme with head . The posh folk rhymed it with played . " Swayed ." Showing off their general sophistication or something. London-centric media types such as yer Lamacqs rhymed it with played as well, but spoken like a yoof TV presenter it always came out as swoyed , innit? I am of course referring to Brett 'n Bernard 'n co's Suede , hip young gunslingers (1992) who, with slinky, snake-thin Ziggy guitars and target-market grabbing daft quotes about being bisexuals who've never had [...]

As an upcoming DJ/Producer out of Sweden, it's become clear that at the rate Mick is going, he'll blow up in no time. With massive support from some of the biggest Dj's in the world like: David Guetta, Steve Angello, Erick Morillo, Chuckie, Gregori Klosman, and lots more, we already have an idea of where his career as a DJ & Producer is going. Having worked with Chuckie & the all incredible Avicii , Mick has been laying out tracks across the Electro/House/Progressive genres for the last few years. While currently getting his act fully [...]

It's been years since the last Hell On Wheels album. Previously they've been compared to the Pixies, but based on the two songs I've heard from their upcoming album One Ros (out 22nd June on Hybris ) they've been hanging out with the Shout Out Louds (Baby) and Kurt Wagner (The Night). mp3 : Hell on Wheels - Baby

Is there anything more saccharin then Swedish pop? Survey says.. Nej! The Swedes have had a lock down on amazingly bubbly, smiley pop music since forever. The new single from Lucknow Pact , Waiting In The Sun , delivers a major dose of jangly, surf Zoloft and as much as we can like anything ATM with a critical "Pabst over" today haha.. We dig! Lucknow Pact - Waiting In The Sun

I was talking to a friend the other day about how hard people in Sweden have to support their friends and be happy for their success. We even have a epithet for it "The Jante Law". Wikipedia lists it as "a pattern of group behavior towards individuals within Scandinavian communities, which negatively portrays and criticizes individual success and achievement as unworthy and inappropriate." Or as Morrissey so eloquently put it: "We hate it when our friends become successful". It's a quite unpleasant thing and you will see [...]
