This weekend was the much-anticipated (for me, anyways) Virgin Mobile Festival at the Pimlico Racetrack in Baltimore. After selling out their Olympia date on the 2nd of December, Glen and Marketa (also known as The Swell Season, or him from the Frames and her, Blarney Woolen Mills number 1 customer) have added another show. I have seen Glen Hansard 4 times now(twice w/the Frames and twice w/Swell Season) and on three of those occasions he mentioned his love of the Pixies. In fact at two of the shows he played Pixies songs, 'Where Is My Mind' and 'Cactus'. After seeing the Swell Season again at Coachella in April I came home and I've been listening to Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim ever since...such a brilliant collection of music. After taking care of some business in the San Fran climes, I am packing up and heading south to (hot) Southern California to cover the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival .
