Clare Maguire has been receiving mixed reviews since her early year release of " Light After Dark ", I personally think that all her singles are simply radio ready. Yes she has one big voice and reminds us of a modern day Cher, which if we're speaking career wise is great thing. "The Shield and Sword" is the latest single, it's quite splendid and one of the best tracks on the album. Sometimes you just have to say the hell with critics....................... . visual is up above.
BBC Sound of 2011 number 5 honoree Clare Maguire has just released a new video from her debut album Light After Dark. Cue tired Lady Gaga x Katy Perry x etc etc comparisons. I dig it. You can download "Strangest Thing" for free on her site right now.
One of the blog's tips for 2011, Navan's Saramai & The Swords have put a few tunes on soundcloud and can be accessed here: http://soundcloud.com/saramai Here's a potential hit for the band with the song Galileo .... [not the Declan O'Rourke one!] Galileo by saramai

Brrrrraaaaaahhhhhh............ it's 4:20 on 4/20!!!! Ganjaleel? Speaking of trippy-hippie-nings - I've never been to ten year-old Bonnaroo, but I imagine it's not too much different from most jamband fests I have attended in my day. Sure, the 'roo offers a bit more diversity than its twice-baked counterparts, but c'mon you can't convince me of your multi-faceted-ness [...]

Not only has Clare Maguire one of the very best albums of the year so far, the truly enchanting and amazing Light After Dark , she also has a number of incredible pop gems up her sleeve. Too bad the public didn't really "get" her first proper single The Last Dance , which was nevertheless a great introduction (after teaser Ain't Nobody ). Clare is getting ready to release her [...]
Glad to see the efforts to promote Clare Maguire 's debut album haven't halted as of yet. This is one of the stronger songs on the album. Light After Dark is a great disc. If you're anything like us, you've been slouching around in the sun all weekend, pretending there aren't any deadlines for next week, and generally enjoying the fact that this weekend the UK's been having a premature mini-Summer. Aside from barbequeing foolish amounts of meet, and downing loutish amounts of discount beer, it's also given us [...]

April 16th is Record Store Day & it is nearly here! So, I thought that it would behoove me to add the events going on at the music stores in town here too. No event was posted at the above link, however, I did find one that Brookroyal made on facebook here . [...]
I guess Rick Perry isn't just pro-gun; turns out he's also pro-sword. Or so we can glean from the above photo, which also indicates that he might be pro-mall-punk, too. Yes, that's Jonathan Cook... Continue reading "Governor Rick Perry Plays Swords With Forever The Sickest Kids?" >
News The cliché is that the third chapter of any cinematic trilogy (Godfather III, Return of the Jedi, Scream 3, Spider-Man 3, etc.) will suck, and "Night City," the new video from The Sword, would certainly seem to prove that this rule does not just apply to movies. It's the third chapter of the series the [...]

Sorry, kids, but I am not a Gates of Slumber fan. They're one of those bands, like The Sword, whose sound is ultimately just too self-consciously retro for my tastes. There are bands doing the whole classic-hard rock/metal thing but putting their own spin on it, like Dawnbringer and High on Fire, and then there [...]

On March 22nd, cirKus are set to release their single "Bells" on Booga Bisquit. A video for the single was produced by Sweden's Deguass and directed by Daniel Annefelt and Fredrick Furstenbach. The video follows a series of cloned men, being spit out of the machines that built them, into another. They continue on in a repetitive, zombie-like existence, as a cog in this other machine, this time enduring more and more abuse. LA black metal collective, Lightning Swords Of Death , who were slated to kick off a month-long US tour supporting [...]
Los Angeles black metal collective Lightning Swords of Death, who were slated to kick off a month-long U.S. tour supporting death metal legends Master last week, were forced to head back home when the headliners were prevented from entering the country. Commented vocalist Autarch of the unfortunate tour cancellation: "Know this: Lightning Swords... Read More/Discuss on Metal Underground.com

If I was only allowed to describe the the tormented sound scapes created by Drone - a.k.a. Halifax's Sean Esten - it would be desolate. Ominous, spare tones compose the moody instrumentals he presents on Sticks Were Swords , layering acoustic and electric lines and with hushed percussion to build tension and darkness. Thankfully, amongst the darkness are a few clearings; "Dandelion Wine" dances lightly with gentle picking and the title track exposes a subtle beauty and it's actually these moments that stand out and help make this more than [...]
Het is altijd vervelend om een avant-garde release niet te snappen. Alsof de muzikant je te slim af is. Het helpt niet als het hippe Pitchfork met een hoog cijfer strooit. Aan de andere kant kun je als het om...

Dan Teague, Canadian MP, is a desperate believer that more needs to be done to protect Canadian copyright holders. He says so in Parliament; he says so online : I make no apologies for standing with Canada's creators and creative industries when it comes to websites whose business model is built on "massive" infringement of the works that form their livelihood. And contrary to Mr. Geist's derogatory characterization – that's pro-consumer too!. Only by building a legitimate digital marketplace with clear and balanced rules can Canadians have the sorts of consumer choices that have [...]
