The Tallest Man On Earth to play in a fancy backyard... The supercharged living battery that is Swedish songwriter Kristian Matsson returns to Ireland this Summer with a date booked for the Iveagh Gardens on July 12th. For those new to the man - probably not many seeing as he sold out Vicar Street last year - check out the excellent The Wild Hunt . For more on The Tallest Man On Earth [...]
Though I'm the sort of guy that likes his Primus in normal 2-D, this Sasquatch 2013 lineup is packed with some serious good energy. You've got The Postal Service reuniting (and maybe Ben Gibbard runs in to Danny Brown randomly and he's all like "You wanna collab?" Because, like that seems like something that would happen nowadays) and indie megas like Sigur Ros, Vampire Weekend, The XX, and Arctic Monkeys. And everyone is allowed to smoke pot. Like legally. I think. Check out the trailer below. As an added bonus watch a video [...]
There are few things that could make me feel better after ONCE AGAIN the Ghanaian men's soccer team lose on penalty kick in a big game. That one thing is this great unreleased collaboration between The Tallest Man on Earth and Idiot Wind (who is also Swedish!). This collaboration proves that: Swedes speak better English than most Americans do and that these two need to make a collabo album together. A Swedish tv program did a series on the two, but most of it is shots of the Swedish country side during the winter and the two [...]
Well, it took a bit longer than expected (losing your job in November and having a baby in January will disrupt the blog-writing process a bit), but Given and Taken in Ink's list for best albums of 2012 is finally here. This year, a handful of bands came out of nowhere and blew me away. I knew right away that debut albums from Drew Smith and The Rest would stand among the best releases of the year. They are joined by 28 other great albums, by artists well-known and obscure. I'm pleased that GTI's 2012 list is a [...]

Click here to download the mix / listen on Spotify . 01. Phoenix - 1901 02 The Tallest Man On Earth - 1904 03. Harry Nilsson - 1941 [...]

The Tallest Man On Earth aka Kristian Matsson brings us this great track from his 2012 album, There’s No Leaving Now. Enjoy.
The conclusion of Ca Va Cool's best albums of 2012 picks up where the first half left off , featuring old favourites and brave new sounds side by side: indie pop sits next to a "post-internet" patchwork sound; thematically-advancing hip-hop sidles up to our beloved indie rock. Without further ado, here are our writers ten favourite albums of the past year. Photograph by Kristin Lidell 10. Jens Lekman – I Know What Love Isn't How could anybody break up with Jens [...]
15. Dirty Projectors - Swing Lo Magellan - Always known for their superbly creative music, Dirty Projectors were back at it this year with Swing Lo Magellan, a stylistically eclectic record that is highly danceable (surprisingly enough) with pop hooks that will grab you at the throat. It's a record that feels spontaneous, featuring polyrhythmic elements that delight your ears from every angle. This may be the most accessible music they've created to date, it's a fun album to listen to in just about all situations. Listen: Dirty Projectors - Gun Has No Trigger | Buy: [...]

Most years, I make myself a little best-of-the-year CD to play in the car. Once or twice, I've given them to a few friends. Last year, I put one up here. This year, I figured I'd do the same. The problem this year is there was so damn much good music out there. I couldn't keep the list down to a CD length. So, here's 25 of my favorite tunes from this year. [...]
