The Newport Folk Festival has announced their 2012 lineup, with My Morning Jacket and Jackson Browne heading up the top of the two-day lineup, along with Iron & Wine, Conor Oberst, Arlo Guthrie, Deer Tick, Dawes, tUnE-yArDs, The Head and the Heart, The Tallest Man on Earth, Tom Morello, Sharon Van Etten, and New Multitudes, a new group consisting of Yim Yames (My Morning Jacket), Jay Farrar (Son Volt), Will Johnson (Centro-matic), and Anders Parker (Varnaline).

The iconic Newport Folk Festival returns July 28-29th at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island. This year's bill is topped by My Morning Jacket and Jackson Browne, and they'll be joined by Conor Oberst, Iron & Wine, Arlo Guthrie, The Tallest Man on Earth, tUnE-yArDs, The Head and the Heart, Tom Morello, Deer Tick, Dawes, Sharon Van Etten, and New Multitudes, which features My Morning Jacket's Yim Yames, Son Volt's Jay Farrar, Centro-matic's Will Johnson, and Varnaline's Anders Parker. Let the Record Store Day releases begin! Dead Oceans is reporting that The Tallest Man On Earth will be releasing a 12" of King Of Spain off his release The Wild Hunt . The B-Side will include a cover of Paul Simon's "Graceland" and The Tallest Man on Earth's own "Where I Thought I Met the Angels." It's limited to 2000 copies worldwide and exclusive to Record Store Day. I'll be in front of you running to get this one on Record Store Day.

Backed by a full band, Matsson performed two songs: the Swedish folk tune "En Fattig Trubadur" and a Swedish-language cover of Thin Lizzy's classic "Dancing in the Moonlight (It's Caught Me in Its Spotlight)". Thanks to the supporting musicians, Matsson's rendition of "Dancing" showed off a more lush, intricate sound, one that was as recklessly rocking as it was folksy and insightful.
