It's still quiet on the blogging front, but here's a few item of note today: Part 2 of the Contrast Podcast Festive Fifty is available now. Some interesting choices, indeed. I'm curious to see what ends up being on next week's final Part 3. Blog Fresh Radio's weekly podcast is a look back at 2007 with a number of prominent bloggers from The Daily Growl , Lost In Your Inbox and Quick Before It Melts (smile). If you have a few days [...]
The Terrordactyls Genre: Indie / Powerpop / Acoustic From : Vashon/Brooklyn/Olympia, United States The Terrordactyls are Michael Cadiz and Tyrel Stendahl. The duo met on Vashon Island where they both attended classes at the local High School. They worked on several multimedia projects together and played music, with their friends until it all eventually merged into The Terrordactyls. The Terrordactyl's [...]

Michael and Tyrel come from opposite sides of the map but somehow have come together to give you sweet pop tunes. Complete with toys and kazoos, The Terrodactyls mix their synths to create quirky sing-along songs with an uninterruptable acoustic element. I have short flashbacks of childhood through high school, mainly thinking of good times when I'm track to trackin'. Try it! These guys have a self-titled album out from Pankof Records. You can get that album here . And as always, we got some tunes for you. You can listen more [...]
The Terrordactyls are a bicostal duo consisting of Michael Cadiz and Tyrel Stendahl, making music over the multi-state divide of Washington and Brooklyn, NY. The twosome grew up together in Washington and their musical experimentation during high-school grew into this particular project. Aside from the kitschy descriptions of weight lifting routines and games of four-square, I like to think that the influences most apparent in their work are those of the Moldy Peaches mixed with Why? . And how appropriate: here's a little gem of a collaboration with Kimya Dawson called [...]
It's true that the presence of Kimya Dawson was the main impetus behind me inserting the Terrordactyls' new self-titled disc into the laptop right away when it arrived. Her duet with one of the 'dactyls on track 7, "Devices," is surely one of the best in class since Paul and Michael laid down "Say Say Say", but then Kimya's voice gets me choked up every single time I see the Juno trailer in the

Usually when i post mp3s from bands i've been getting into, they tend to be accompanied by tour dates, but December isn't exactly a tourdate heavy time of year. It also isn't a new release time of year for the most part (save for the hip hop industry), but i don't need any better reason to be posting about Olympia's the Terrordactyls than their recent self-titled debut record (out 12/4 on Pankof Records) and the accompanying stand-out track "Devices," which features Kimya Dawson of Moldy Peaches as well as solo fame. The Terrordactyls are a [...]

As well as catching shows from EL-P and Joanna Newsom over the weekend, Thursday and Friday night were occupied with the Super Extra Bonus Party album launches in Newbridge and Dublin. Newbridge had LPX (one-man electronic madness), the debut gig from Wolves (think Mogwai meets Jape) and DJ Robbie Coffey. The Voodoo Lounge on Friday had Nouveau Noise (also a debut performance), Terrordactyl (who rocked with precision as always), Thalamus (ambient electronica - free release here ) and T-Woc spinning the tunes til the wee [...]

On Gav's recommendation, We went along to Crawdaddy last night to see Terrordactyl who he had been raving about for the last few weeks. The band were supporting Cork band Rest and were just starting as we got there. What followed was a tremendous swell of beautiful post-rock/math-rock noise which sent shivers down my spine. The band were amazingly tight for the jagged swooping movements that the songs have. Mick, the drummer brings the sharp rhythms, Owensie on guitar, Jill on the Korg adds a extra layer of musical distinction and Lar who displays amazing dexterity on [...]
