Damn, this is absolute fire. He's just set loose the lovechild of moombahton's filthiest top model and disco's classiest fine gentleman. A being made of pure unfiltered swag, and lives at the discotheque. Just press play. Jungle Toaster by flubba Just get your head cans, turn it on 10 (the gain's a little low) and wait for that 2:20 mark. Hey flubba, when can we expect the release of this? Dyin' for a three twenty. -Wicks flubba - [...]

Roastie is a design concept by Polish designer Mateusz Glówka that attempts to reinvent the toaster. It features a see-through case (for toast monitoring) and rotating heat elements to evenly toast the bread. Sadly, it is only a concept and not for sale. Now, normally, the design of a toaster is such, that there doesn't seem to be room for improvement. Its form serves its function. But, I would gladly pay a little bit of money to pretend I was living in a spaceship every morning when making toast. That's all.
So because of the falling snow that's blanketing us right now, it took me about an hour-and-a-half to drive the 16 miles home from work. Good thing I had all this Christmas music to listen to on my way home. You can find all of it here: Day 1 , Day 2 , Day 3 , Day 4 , Day 5 , Day 6 , Day 7 , Day 8 , Day 9 , Day 10 , Day 11 , Day 12 and Day [...]

For Part I of this series, From Bauxite to Brixton , Click Here . As I discussed in the last post on this subject, the discovery of mineral Bauxite in Jamaica in the wake of World War II had a definite effect on the everyday lives of Jamaicans, contributing to an inward migration to the capital, Kingston, and then, in the wake of poverty and unemployment, to an outward migration from Kingston to the UK and the U.S. It is this latter story that I will address here. While Bauxite production actually increased in [...]
On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, eight maids a-milking... and a whole bunch of Christmas MP3's. While I'm stuck here in cold and snowy Chicago, I'll be dreaming of sunnier and warmer places that I think of when I hear these songs. On Friday night, I headed out to Philly's Starlight Ballroom in order to catch the Ska Is Dead Tour (a tour that I have caught practically every year it came around since their first one). After getting rained on in line, I got in free because some nice dude had an extra ticket and just gave it to me, makes up for the $20 I lost at that venue! Most people there seemed to be there for locals Last

You all still remember how to pick up change, right?

It's in development but it will hit the markets soon. It's a completely transparent toaster for those of you who always burn the toast. It's full-functional and utterly modern. Posted in D Is For Design, Tech Techa Tagged: Design, sexy, toaster, transparent
I've never spent Christmas in the Caribbean or anywhere warm. Perhaps that is why I've always been drawn to ska and reggae versions of Christmas songs. As a a fan of both skiing and snowboarding, we generally head towards the mountains around the holidays if we go anywhere at all. So for all of you cold weather people (including me on this snowy night in Chicago) here are some holiday songs to warm you up a bit. MP3 | The OC Supertones - Joy To The World [...]
Freaking stoked out of my mind could not even begin to describe how hyped I was to catch the biggest ska fest on this side of the hood. Yesterday I trekked the two hour drive out to the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey. After getting horribly lost (god I hate google maps sometimes), I finally arrived a tad late missing most of the local bands. Hub City Stompers: When I first heard of the

SomaCow Media is proud to present SomaCow , brought to you in this hour by Tuck's Medicated Pads. Number one amongst the newly initiated, every pro-bono rape kit should have some! In this hour, we discussed a horrific story out of Middle American Extracurricular Sporting Entertainment, Discontinued products that MSN demands Americans demand back, and our own resident Life Coach gives Lindsay Lohan a much needed tongue lashing. Ew. Well, Hot, but, ew. Hazing. What up with hazing, anyhow? Why is it necessary to [...]

The first thing I thought of when I saw this week's theme was, "Time for some ska". My first introduction to ska music came in 1979. It sounded like this: Madness : One Step Beyond [ purchase ] I loved what I was hearing. I sought out all the ska I could find at the time, which led me to the Specials, Bad Manners, the English Beat, and the Selector. As I learned about the context for this music, I learned that [...]

Who wants to get me one. This toaster by Sasha Tseng incorporates a little message board where one can read quick notes. The message also gets "toasted" into the toast itself so it gives new meaning to "read while you eat". Designer: Sasha Tseng Tags: Impressive , Messages , Toasters [...]

Behold the apex of human technological achievement... THE MEAT TOASTER I did briefly consider writing a longer piece dealing with this wonder of the modern (meaning "1971") world, and its significance in terms of consumer capitalism's twin tenets of planned obsolescence and creating demand for unnecessary products, but what more could I really add that isn't right there in the advertisement? It's a toaster, only instead of cooking bread-related items, it cooks meat. Not Pop Tarts, but porterhouses. [...]
