Once upon a time I spent the best semester of my life in Prague. The city has rooted itself deep within my heart and was the gateway for my now incurable wanderlust. However, I never expected to hear about a cow-punk band coming from there. Sure, there were plenty of accordion buskers and the such, but this is folk-punk and silly stories complete with a full backing of folk instruments kind of band. This particular song has a little cajun sound thanks to the accordion, mixed with a backwoods sounding banjo. It's rightfully sloppy, a little drunken, but overall has [...]

Well the rainy season has started over here in the Bay Area and I honestly couldn't be happier. Sound weird? Well when you haven't seen rain in 3 months you might feel the same way. Up Down - Jamie McLean I'm Satisfied Mr Captain - The Savage Rose A Plan - The Tower Of Dudes Finch On Sunday - Horse Feathers Knuckles [...]

The Tower of Dudes are based in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The band members hail from Canada, UK, and the USA. Being strangers in a strange land they took some music from their home countries and the result is an Eastern Europe version of punky folk. If you thought that a meldodik can't rock, think again. This is a band that has written FUN in large letters all over their songs. Their self-titled mini album drops October 16th. Recommended if you like bands like DeVothcKa and the Whisky Priests. Fire up the [...]
This week's Band of the Week may just be the furthest from the United States that I've ever chosen. Hailing from the Czech Republic, The Tower of Dudes are a horribly named, wonderfully adept indie rock band that mix elements of folk, country, punk, and indie rock into one powerfully charged sound. When banjos mix with three chord guitar licks and sounds good you know you are doing something
