The grunge movement wasn't merely a sub-genre of rock music. It has its own aura, sound, dynamic and even fashions. No band optimizes this movement that came out of the Northwestern states like Nirvana (well, maybe Pearl Jam, too). This track is one that rings back our teenage years of angst and rebellion. "In Bloom" is one of their best tracks and also one of the videos that identify the 90s' as a turning point in rock music, and the genre hasn't been as good since. Related articles [...]

No one brings back memories of a summer spent in the Lower East Side of Manhattan like Santigold. This first single from her new album captures just that essence. Pronounced lyrics pressed upon a chill reggae-inspired melody with a surprising guitar riff - no one but Santigold can put all this elements to fruition and still make it sound ready for street speaker. It's time some recognition was given to artists who merge genres beautifully but do not fit nicely on nomination ballots. What Santigold is going her is fusing many different sound into one midtempo track. Had it been [...]
Dannic is a newcomer onto the scene, but he does not want you to forget his name anytime soon. After the release of " Kontiki " with Hardwell, the Dutchman is back with the official anthem of the Riverdance festival 2012. "W.O.P." — that stands for "World of Pleasure" — combines a high synth melody with light bouncy drop, devoid of any overly heavy bass. The song is refreshing, and we're excited to follow Dannic's progression as he keeps releasing tracks at breakneck speed. Him and Dyro have had us very intrigued lately, so we definitely have our eyes on [...]

This has big hit written all over not because its a good tune, but also because there are two powerhouses behind it. So, they can both secure another hit if not a #1. The video must be out of the world too. Filed under: Beats , Brit Brit Brit , Clip Tagged: album , download , leak , new , princess of china , single , track , video
Dirty Dutch originator Chuckie has joined forces with Frenchman Gregori Klosman to bring the world "The Numb3r5." (We're not sure if deadmau5 helped them with the spelling.) The light synths create a wobbling build that drops into a a dirty Dutch beat while retaining the original melody. This is definitely a lighter collaboration than Chuckie's other upcoming track, " Electro Dude ," and shows his production versatility. Word on the street is that this may be included in Chuckie's debut album due out later this summer, but either way it's a solid collaboration from the two. There's no word on whether or not Deadmau5 [...]
Miike Snow's " Devil's Work " earned a top spot on DA 's ' Top 10 Tracks of April ' with a remix from Dirty South, and the Swedish pop band may find themselves in a similar position this month as Thomas Gold has received remix duties for their next single, "The Wave." Miike Snow's indie vocal once again lends itself to progressive house as the union with Thomas Gold sounds like a match made in heaven. Leaving little trace of the original, Gold's uplifting and melodic progression takes the lead, producing an instant favorite that translates to all [...]
EDX's debut artist album On The Edge gave us the smooth and melodic progressive house tracks we've come to expect from the Italian DJ. While we love listening to the album as a whole, there were a couple of standout songs that, in our opinion, deserved harder-edged remixes. One such track was "Love Express," EDX's collaboration with Seamus Haji, released today as a single. The single package includes the perfect electro-meets-progressive remix from French producer Romain Curtis; he gives "Love Express" a jolt of energy and a unique synth line. Jerique's electrifying vocals sound [...]

If you follow this blog you would know that we love a good pop beat any day of the week. But, what really makes us swoon for ages is a solid sombre tune. Who better to deliver this sound than the unequivocally divine Ane Brun. On "What's Happening Between You And Him" Brun visits melancholic austerity with depth and a yearning as deep as a well. With stark drumming and simple yet direct lyrics allows for a haunting saunter around the dimmer edges of a love story. The kind of stories that pop up on cold and lonely rainy nights. This is [...]
Back in December, Afrojack hosted a live stream where he casually previewed a slew of new productions, one of which has finally made its way to the public ear. Coming off Afrojack and Bobby Burn's Jacked Radio 033, the new track is a predictable yet impressive effort from Afrojack and Apster. As usual, Afrojack stays close to home with his production style — but as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The piano-heavy and electro-induced build up drops into a more euphoric version of itself for what seems like the completion of [...]
In another sign of the EDM times, Universal Music Group is launching a new dance label called PM:AM Recordings. According to the press release, the new imprint is comprised of A&R (artist and repertoire) reps from Universal offices worldwide, and will focus on tracks that "currently dominate the airwaves of Radio 1 and festivals alike." Universal has a bit of experience with big EDM tracks, having signed Avicii's "Levels" and "Silhouettes," not to mention "Calling (Lose My Mind)." It will be interesting to see how the label develops, but we're of course happy to see the big guys investing in [...]
Thom Yorke took some time out of his Radiohead schedule to do another little side project. His vocals are always up to par, but the cutting can get a tad bit annoying. Don't you think? Filed under: Beats , Brit Brit Brit , Clip Tagged: album , new , single , thom yorke , track
We're sure you're all aware of Eric Prydz's upcoming album, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda , is due out later this month, but previews have been popping up on YouTube left and right. "Allein" is one of the most anticipated tracks off that album — and is an absolute anthem that's been popping up everywhere from Refune Radio to our special Arty Axis guest mix . Pete Tong seems to share our opinion of this track as he named it his Essential New Tune last night on Radio 1 ( in between debuting [...]
After claiming his own stage at Ultra Music Festival, Carl Cox is bringing his party across the US and Canada to kick off the summer. Carl Cox & Friends looks to span North America, beginning with its debut at Electric Daisy Carnival New York — which will include names like recently-retired Danny Tenaglia and John Digweed. On the West Coast, Cox's movement will touch down at EDC Las Vegas , where he brings both Tenaglia and Digweed along with Umek and more. The ringleader of techno will also be stopping in Chicago, San Fransisco, Los [...]
Last night, Pete Tong debuted Tommy Trash's remix of Deadmau52s " The Veldt " on his essential mix and got the world excited for a fresh spin of the growingly popular single. "The Veldt" has seen a positive response from fans thusfar, but its revolving loop character can arguably use a face lift. Tommy does just that, outdoing the original tenfold by injecting previously absent energy with synths and kicking bass. The trashed rendition uses uptempo drum line to give Chris James' vocal a new home, one that translates much better to a dance audience. Tommy Trash's remix will be [...]
It's been less than a month since Dre and Snoop turned the lights - and the holograms - off at Coachella , but after a cryptic Instagram was tweeted yesterday, we can expect some news on next year's festival to come on Monday at 10am PDT. While we don't know exactly what the news is, wide speculation points us towards pre-sale tickets, or at a minimum more insight into plans, dates, and pricing for 2013. Now that event promoters Goldenvoice have purchased 280 acres of land where the annual festival takes place, we've heard rumors [...]
New York duo MS MR have made their single Hurricane available for download. The duo is so fresh to the music world that you'll be hard pressed to find any information on them aside from a few articles and some music blog love. With an 11 date US (1 - Vancouver show) tour supporting Marina [...]
HQ Nightclub and HQ Day Club at Revel are beginning to make waves in Atlantic City. The hotel-nightclub combo recently announced Calvin Harris as one of their resident DJ's but are not stopping there. In hopes of attracting more fans to the city and their venue, Revel has added Dirty South to it's expanding roster. The Serbian-Australian DJ also has the resident title and is set to perform five dates throughout the year - the first scheduled for this summer. Glamming up Atlantic City is a big undertaking but it seems Revel is off to a good start. [...]
Pete Tong debuted a brand new track from Steve Angello, AN21, and Max Vangeli on his radio show just a few short hours ago called "H8rs." According to Pete, it will be included on the People Of The Night album — though we still have no hard release date or any other information about the track nor album. The new offering juxtaposes a dark lead intro with a mid-section that even appears to incorporate some drum-n-bass elements. It's definitely got a different sound from other tracks we already know will be on the album (think "Whisper" or "People [...]
