Tom Krell is back in true How To Dress Well fashion with a beautiful new R&B gem to get our ears ready for his upcoming sophomore LP Total Loss.

I first featured the music of Aluna Francis and George Reid aka Aluna George in November last , citing their post-dubstep style as ripe for rap instrumentals which may go some way to explaining the news that Tri Angle Records will release the duo's new EP. Tri Angle is home to Clams Casino and Evian Christ, two recent producers who have one foot in electronic and the other in rap so the partnership is a good fit. The brilliant 'You Know You Like It' features on the EP. The two [...]
This week, we have some very special guests here on Eye on the Triangle. We are excited to welcome Jonathan Smith, Andy Walsh, and Caroline Yopp to our studio to discuss the issues that matter to you, the N.C. State community. Polls close tonight at midnight, so if you haven't voted yet, be sure to do so. In addition, we bring you stories from Ag Awareness Week, the group Liberty in North Korea's visit, the imPACKt awards, and a visit by Herman Cain to Wake County. It's going to be a great show, be sure to tune in!

If you've been keeping up with the post-dubstep dance music scene at all -- which hopefully you have, 'cause there is some amazing electronic music being made right now -- you've probably noted the pervasive presence of a few qualities: vast empty spaces, ominously echoing beats, seismic-grade bass, chopped-n-screwed vocals, ironically appropriated Top 40 hip-hop/R&B signifiers, and a generally cold, gothed-out atmosphere. Looks to me like it's the combined influence of Burial's Untrue , the Knife's Silent Shout , J Dilla's posthumous Donuts , and first-wave U.K. dubstep in the flattening, democratizing era of the internet. Not [...]

I know im a little late on this one but Tri Angle Records recently put out a free mixtape from UK beat-trapper, Evian Christ . Boy, is this one amazing. It's a drugging beat collage of heavy post-party tunes, that have this sense of spatial ambiance in its use of swirling tones and textures. Mr.Christ even takes a sample from a haunting Grouper tune and intertwines it with a upright funky post-footwork rhythm in his second to last track on the release, 'Thrown Like Jacks'. Real neat stuff. Download and stream the whole thing below... [...]

Promising producer Evian Christ has signed to Tri Angle Records and they've put out a mixtape of his featuring eight tracks so far entitled Kings & Them . Pretty excited about more music from this project.

Enjoy. ♩ oOoOO - NoWayBack (feat. Butterclock)

For those of y'all that asked about where to find the massive Evian Christ tracks from our January mix , here you go: his new label Tri-Angle has unleashed glorious high-quality, 320 mbps versions of all of the young UK producer 's youtube joints in the form of his debut Kings and Them mixtape. Check " Fuck It None of Y'all Don't Rap " + the Grouper -sampling " Thrown Like Jacks ," and download the whole tape below: [...]

Right kids, I'm going to keep this brief. Fancy the chance to win tickets to see Randomer, Throwing Snow, Becoming Real, Deft and JJMumbles in a couple of weeks? Good, because I'm going to lay the opportunity right out in front of you like a cheeseboard begging to be ravaged. The architects of such an inspired line-up are the folks behind club night Triangle and, being the philanthropic bunch they are, they've given us two pairs of tickets to offer up for grabs. Your grabs. Oh yes indeed. How to Enter All you [...]

Nov. 29, 2011 Sorry! Eye on the Triangle will not be having a show this week. We hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving. Join us next week for our second to last show of the semester! Share and Enjoy:

People may walk past our window and scream "Scrooooge!" while shaking their fists, but we can be generous souls here at Box Musique and to prove it we're giving away 2 pairs of tickets to Triangle in London on December 2nd. Of course, in reality, it's the guys over at Triangle who are giving away the tickets and we are merely facilitating such generosity, so don't give us all the credit...but do give us some. In terms of the actual event, Hotflush's Ossie is headlining proceedings with his blissful brand of organically-inspired house ready to get [...]

As I mentioned last week in my Nick 13 write up, I was previlaged to see a man by the name of Brett Detar open up the show I saw. Some of you may remember Brett Detar for being in some of the coolest Indy and Hardcore bands of the 90's and early 2000's. Most notably as the lead singer for the band The Julian Theory , few may also remember him being in an early incarnation of metalcore icons, Zao . Brett Detar shows us his Country side in [...]

Wednesday night, The Rosebuds return home to the triangle to play a show at Carrboro's Cat's Cradle , alongside recent Merge Records signee Hospitality and Mount Moriah front woman Heather McEntire. I got to Cat's Cradle right before Hospitality started its set. The band has recently signed to Merge Records, with their debut album set to release January 31 of next year. I wasn't able to catch them at Hopscotch , so I was excited. Amber Papini, one of the four members, led vocals. Despite [...]
Night In The Triangle by Matt Baldwin "Night In The Triangle is the new double album by acclaimed guitarist Matt Baldwin, and his second release for American Dust. The project was conceived as a soundtrack for a science fiction film and is Matt's first extended study for electric guitar and other non-acoustic instruments. Driven by a darker, rawer form of energy than that used in his acoustic work, Night In The Triangle aspires to trance and atmospherics." Read on
