Schoolboy Q and ASAP Rocky got together to smoke weed and get drunk in the video for their hit, "Hands On The Wheel". Also, this past weekend at The Troubador in West Hollywood, Schoolboy Q brought out Rocky, for his verse on the track. Seems like serious bff time going on. Pick up Habits and Contradictions now.
In indie's electronic landscape, Joe Pug is a man of tradition. His foray into music began not on a laptop but on a simple acoustic guitar. (After all, laptops are fragile and don't fare well in t... Continue reading "Folk troubador Joe Pug serenades the Bottleneck tonight" >

The folk music boom called Gerde's Folk City in Greenwich Village home, while psychedelic rock bloomed at the Fillmore in San Francisco. For the singer-songwriters of the early 1970s, ground zero was The Troubadour in Los Angeles. The club, which originally opened in 1957 as a coffee house, was the spot for the emerging movement, which [...]

K'naan is one of the more underrated artists out there, and he finally got a huge break that should give him the worldwide praise he deserves. "Wavin' Flag" off of his latest, unbelievable album Troubador , has been selected as the official anthem of the 2010 World Cup. So naturally, he beefed up the song a bit to fit the soccer world's needs, and it will serve as the official jam for the CocaCola/World Cup campaign. It was an amazing song before and the re-worked version is just as good. Check it out- Download: K'naan [...]

Here's a nice album that a friend of mine found somewhere or other, knowing that it would be much to my liking. And he was right (and thank you very much, Stu!). There's no indication of when this album was recorded, or where this Temple is or was located. I don't think I can add anything to what is written on the back cover, so I'll refer the reader to those notes, linked below. 1.) The Troubadors – Medley: Am Yisrael Chai, Esa Einay, Ho Ruach (MP3) 2.) [...]

Ah Mary - Grace Potter and The Nocturnals May.07 - The Troubador, Los Angeles, CA Just cause I think she's hot as fire! If you made a triangle with one point being Bonnie Raitt, one point being Edie Brickell, and one point being Alanis Morrissette, Grace would drop right in the middle.
My brothers and sisters, life is too short for stress. So relax yo brain with some of this great great great music. Introducing K'naan hailing from the war ridden African country of Somalia. I played at the dinner that A&R Worldwide and the Swedish Consulate held yesterday. (A big thank you to the organizers for having me, it was a great honour!) It was nothing like I had expected. I thought it was going to be more of a networking thing, where people would mingle and talk while I stood in a corner singing. Instead there were a hundred seated people, totally quiet, just looking at me. I got so nervous I thought my knees would shake me off the planet! But I got through it and then Kristin, Peter and [...]
K'naan is about to become a household name. All you need to do is check out Troubadour and you'll see why. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia (considered the world's most dangerous city), K'naan grew up in destitution, bloodshed and civil war. In '91, at the age of 13, he managed to escape with his mother to NYC and eventually settled in Toronto. 10 years later he's learns English and is making music; he releases The Dusty Foot Philosopher in 2005. Come 2008, he's in Bob Marley's house in Kingston with Damian and Mos recording Troubadour. Dusty is so fresh [...]
There he goes again the dopest Ethiopian, Knaan enlists Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine for the latest track off Troubador. I haven't had the chance to hear the CD yet but I've heard it's top notch. If all the tracks are like Bang Bang it's easy to see why.
Go pickup that 'Troubador' album.
