It's two slices of Groove Armarda for you today, although they're both remixes. The first is by my favourite camp disco producers The Twelves. This is a more sedate slice from them, but it's got all the ingredients that make a fantastic Twelves production. It's still funky, dance-worthy but if it's on a little quieter then this would go down a treat for a chill. Groove Armarda - Drop The Tough (The Twelves Remix) [...]

The Twelves is an electronic music production and DJing duo, made up of Brazilian musicians João Miguel and Luciano Oliveira. Dunson, a relatively fresh face in the game is marking his place in the world of hip-hop. His newest track “Count on It” is, in a word, dope. His production team, Phatboiz, successfully samples a legendary song from Sesame Street (childhood style points), while he raps over it with informed lyrics. Dunson’s website says that “’Count on It’ represents the unapologetic confidence you have when you have put your work in.” Clearly, Dunson put in his work. His track doesn’t have that over-produced tackiness that turns me off from a lot of mainstream acts, while keeping [...]

While his band, brief late '002s indie-pop sensation Black Kids, continue work on their forthcoming sophomore effort (one we'll be looking forward too, especially if it contains anything as bopping-alone-at-home friendly as "big hit" "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You" or the woefully under-appreciated follow-up "Look At Me (When I Rock Wichoo)" ), bassist Owen Holmes has kept himself even more busy by splintering back off into solo side-project Gospel Music , an act that can currently be found on tour in support of its October-released debut LP [...]

Goody gumdrops. One of my all time "HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS BAND" (or DJs, whatever) are Brazil's finest, The Twelves. They must be the most underrated DJ team of all time. Unlike Scott Parker who must literally be the most overrated footballer in the history of ALL sport. So, all in all, I'm pretty stoked at Kitsuné's latest club night at XOYO on October 14th . And Miami Horror! Live! I've got my ticket, and if you're not going then there must literally be something wrong with you, or you're busy. Which [...]

Photo by Barbara Crane Remember this song? I've been lucky enough to catch The Twelves live twice in the past month, and this track always seems to find its way into their sets. It's nothing new, and yet sounds every bit as fresh and fun as it did back in 2008. And while the Black Kids original was sure to get you smiling, the remix is going to get your body moving--I've yet to see a single
