It appears that Austin's Unbearables are no more, perhaps they just got sick of waiting for Sufjan to complete his tour of America or more likely it was the 6 years together that made it intolerable. Regardless they've caught the ear of at least one someone from faraway shores so sleep can be easy. This is a incorrigible little number, feisty and full of shunty melodious asides. Perhaps their aim was to throw the kitchen sink at it but then there is a pleasing lightness of being to proceedings. Your output is bound to feel a little claustrophobic anyway when [...]

Well now - here I am back on a broadband connection, albeit at my Dad's place a few miles from my super-duper static caravan (Trailer, for you guys over 'there') in what's these days rather inaccurately referred to as a Holiday Park - maybe every day's a holiday?, just like Dick van Dyke said in Mary Poppins - cor blimey. Anyhow, been in a bit over a week, and whilst I wouldn't say it was comfortable, it's somewhere to live for now, and the invisible, but very audible geese nearby, do give rise to plenty of smiles - [...]

Get your fill of wind and brass instrument-filled rock tomorrow night, as Mount Righteous AND The Unbearables will both be at the Chat Room Pub in Ft Worth. The bands, boasting 10 and 9 members respectively are sure to give you the most bang for your buck this weekend. The Van Buren Boys and The County Lines will be opening. Chat Room Pub's website MP3: Mount Righteous - When [...]

Not long ago I was turned on to a great Austin band called The Unbearables.I recently had the privilege of doing an email interview with lead singer/songwriter Marshall Escamilla and company. Having 9 members playing instruments ranging from guitars and moog synthesizers to flutes/clarinets/trumpets, etc. this doesn't seem like a band that started like your typical garage act. How did you guys decide come together to form the band now known as The Unbearables? Oddly enough, it actually did start [...]

I got a tip over the weekend that I should check out a band from Austin called The Unbearables . While the comparisons to Polyphonic Spree and Mount Righteous immediately start flying around, they may be based more on the band's size than their sound. The Unbearables are much closer to Sufjan Stevens , but that's not entirely fair either, as they are still able to evoke their garage rock roots from time to time. The thing that IS certain, however, is that you'll have plenty of opportunities to decide for yourself, [...]

Again, the glockenspiel must have some magical influence over whether I enjoy a band or not. The massive nine piece Austin band, The Unbearables, handily brandish the "glock" on their tunes along with a truck load of other sounds. This monstrous concoction of instruments, joyful singing kicks the moon in the butt and brings that dazzling sun high into the sky. Look! There's a bluebird on my shoulder. Yea! Seeya later dark gloomy workday! Hello radiant sun non-workday! The Unbearables (which they certainly are not - music wise - they could be really annoying people - but I don't know [...]

We stumbled upon this great little nine piece (uh, we count ten in the picture above folks) recently called The Unbearables . The group of Austin, Texas guys and gals recently relinquished an excellent little 4-song EP titled Autonomy vs. Shame . Our favorite track, The Darker Part , is below for your listening pleasure. The Darker Part - download MP3 This one has made it into heavy [...]

1. The Streets -- The Escapists This is from the Everything is Borrowed album and reminds me a little bit of "Dry Your Eyes." 2. Jenny Lewis -- Acid Tongue The first thing I've heard from the upcoming second solo album of the same name out September 23rd. 3. Dylan Champagne -- From Here To There I've been watching The Wire, so I can't help but think of Omar as the whistling begins in this song. [...]
Their name may be the Unbearables, but the music sure isn't! The descriptions of this Austin, Teaxs-based group's wonderfully unique sound are numerous: uplifting, orchestral, operatic. The comparisons are equally plentiful: Wilco, Surfjan Stevens, The Sonics. The ingredients of the mix: a little indie-pop (with a west-coast, sixities-sound flair to boot), a little punk, and nine musicians that are a perfect fit for one-another. I'm a sucker for music, especially moogs and flutes, that absolutely loads you onto a thought and carries you so far away that waking up back where you started feels like a high school high. Autonomy [...]

"We're going to be releasing an EP on Sept 11. It's called "Autonomy vs. Shame," and it'll be the first in a 3-part series. We'll be releasing its companions in February and May of 2009, with a new full-length emerging in July of that year." "We are a collective of nine people striving to save the world through sheer musical geekery. Founded in 2005 and picking up people ever since, the Unbearables will rawk you harder than you've ever been rawked by a band [...]

The West Coast sound moved East and ended up in Austin, TX. The Unbearables are releasing Autonomy vs. Shame , the first installment of a three part EP series. This nine piece band sounds like The Mamas & The Papas with a bit of Dave Davies' guitar licks thrown in. File under Polyphonic Spree melodic indie rock. They are into zombies but they are very much alive. The Unbearable s: Josh Crochet: drums Marshall Escamilla: vocals, guitars Heather Pharr: vocals Harrison Speck: bass Ian LeClair: Farfisa, noise [...]
Railcars - "Concrete Buildings" Running slipping slick down all-night subway steps. Solar-powered scientific calculator bear attack. Squinting, plugging other ear, trying to hear unintelligible voicemail while swarmed by guitar-hornets. Licking a back-hand stamp to pass it, press it, to a friend. [ buy from the MySpace ] The Unbearables - "Loose Connection" Beach blanket magic carpet clarinet-i-tron. Evergreen radar wheel christmas carol. Electric ripping Madonna helicopter shot. Lonely forest hippie garden circle. Reproachful firm but fair organ leads to massive guitar climb and inevitable fall. [ EP [...]

The Unbearables are pop-rock band from Austin, Texas. The nine piece collective sounds like the Polyphonic Spree and seems to heavily influenced by Sufjan Stevens. Their new EP "Autonomy vs. Shame", the first in a series of three EPs features a track called 'The Darker Part' which heavily resembles a song that can be found on Sufjan's "Illinoise" if it wasn't for the heavier vocals. They also remind of other pop-collectives such as Sweden's I'm From Barcelona and Wales' Los Campesinos!. You can visit their myspace here . The Unbearables - The Darker Part [...]
The Unbearables - The Darker Part This band's sound is so enormous that with nine musicians seemingly building upward using everything from Moogs to flutes, it can't help but be bouyant. The Unbearables are from Austin, Texas and they are soon to release the first of a trio of EPs entitled Autonomy vs. Shame , before following the series with a full-lenth album in July '09. Head over to their MySpace where you'll not only hear another track from the forthcoming EP, but a song from their rock opera about zombies. [...]

"Holy shit. Where did these guys come from?" That's what I asked myself upon first hearing Just One Bite , the new record from Austin quartet The Unbearables . They are: Marshall Escamilla (Guitar/Vocals), Harrison Speck (Bass), Ian LeClair (Vocals/Keyboard), and Josh Crochet (Drums). After forming in Austin a few years ago these four gents spent a few years "playing garage pop like everyone else was around 2004", went on tour with a new drummer, and when they returned home from this tour they were broke, tired, and disillusioned. They subsequently began [...]
