As season 5 ends, Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) is sitting in the airport, he picks up his phone, and says "I have two tickets to Vegas, do you want to get married?" Three girls; Lindsey (Michaela McManus), Brooke (Sophia Bush), and Peyton (Hilarie Burton) all say hello and then the screen fades to black. I figure I'll find out what happens the next day. However, instead of going to season 6, SoapNet goes back to season 1, leaving me hanging. I know you're probably shaking your head, or thinking I'm a big fan of candleabras, but we all [...]

Here we go, I realised I got a few more albums than I thought, so I'm splitting it up in more manageable chunks... St. Vincent – Marry Me Having missed two opportunities to see her gig at both Bristol and Manchester, I was lucky to catch her set at Nice'n'Sleazy in Glasgow and it was pretty fantastic. Almost apologetic when stood at the mic, quietly purring over the buzzing keyboards and (controlled, admittedly) chaos going on around her, it was an impressive display. I'd caught [...]

The Veils - Lions After Slumber [Scritti Politti]

"Hi, we're Foreign Born and we're from California," lead singer Matt Popieluch yells to the crowd gathered at Toronto's world famous Horseshoe Tavern - which is both the band's introduction to Toronto this night and to this reviewer completely. I'm there early – The Veils are headlining – and you never know what, or who, you might see. This is the kind of place and the kind of night one can make potentially-amazing musical discoveries and, what makes it especially intriguing is the chance to see them live before I even review [...]

Em Abril os The Veils editaram o seu terceiro álbum de originais, e o segundo após a desintegração da banda e criação de novo lineup. Sun Gangs é simplesmente "f***ing good" Finn Andrews, o... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

The Veils / Foreign Born @ La Sala Rossa ( 07. 28. 2009 ) To kick off the Osheaga festivities, a few shows were set up in venues around town under the Osheaga "In The City" banner to get us in the mood for the big blowout this weekend. First up on the schedule was New Zealand's The Veils [...]

Photos by Oliver Pangborn Last Thursday, The Empty Bottle welcomed a pair of indie rock doppelgängers to Chicago: Foreign Born and The Veils . They're two bands that by all rights should be bigger than they are, who always seem on the cusp of wider stardom but never quite pull it off. I've covered both of them on Dead Flowers (and previously on Glamorama ) since their respective inceptions, so seeing this show made me feel a bit like a proud papa whose kids are all grown [...]

Sunday night wrapped up a rather moderate week of live music in Austin, but let's not forget that we've had a pretty awesome summer of live music. Fortunately for us at ATH, we were able to catch Foreign Born , The Veils and Other Girls at The Mohawk on Sunday night, just after we did our best to pretend to be entertained by the Anarchy Wrestling Tour outside of the Mohawk. [...]

Creators of one of our jams of summer , Foreign Born , are playing at Mohawk on Sunday evening. To make the show more enticing, The Veils and The Other Girls will be opening things up. For only $10 this should be a great way to close down your weekend. Doors are at 8pm. Download: Foreign Born - Early Warnings [MP3]

The Veils' third album, "Sun Gangs," establishes Finn Andrews as a frontman who can do just about anything, and will. The son of XTC founding member and Bowie/Eno sideman Barry Andrews, Finn shape-shifts from acoustic pop to electrifying anthems to piano ballads to thrashy noise over the album's 10 tracks, his moods ranging from Bono hopeful to Cave dark. It's disarming at times, even maddening, but each time you want to turn away, Andrews unveils a magical image or brilliant turn of phrase. ||| Download: "The Letter" and "Three Sisters" [...]
American rock critics, after their oft-coldblooded fashion, took note of the battered heart of frontman Finn Andrews—son of XTC keyboardist Barry Andrews—since The Runaway Found first blipped the indie radar back in 2004. In this interview with Ron Garmon, Finn gives up a glimpse of characteristic romanticism while putting discreet end to some rumors.
