This week we're keeping it simple. In recognition of the news from the start of this week that Spotify has launched in Australia (and New Zealand) , we've put together a Sunday Spotify Slaylist of some of our favourite Australian bands. Why only Australian bands, and none from New Zealand? Well...for starters, there aren't that many good New Zealand heavy bands to begin with, and there are even fewer currently available through Spotify. Rather than just stick in a token single NZ track on our Slaylist, we [...]

The Libertines , Interpol , Norah Jones , The Walkmen , The Decemberists , [...]
With the early Two Thousand and Twelve emphasis on nurturing new talent in the world of music, we at MUZU.TV talked to the up and coming Dead Wolf Club, who are releasing their debut album on February 1st, through Scene Not Heard records. MUZU: Hi guys! You're releasing your debut album on DIY collective Scene Not Herd who claim to "put on the absolute best up and coming bands.". How's it feel to be part of something that chooses to be synonymous with launching great bands? [...]

The Vines - Clint Eastwood [Gorillaz] | zs watch the original
The Mallard (confessed friend and confidante) is steadily moving towards a Castle Face release of their first album YES ON BLOOD, and the tracks are slowly sliding on to the internet. "Vines", a long time staple of The Mallard's downright stellar live show is the latest and it lives up to the sonic squalor Greer McGettrick and [...]
JUST ANOTHER DAY IN SUNNY LA
Another Weekend in Michigan After a show with our good friends The Werks at the HOB tonight, were off to Michigan again just a couple weeks after our T-day jaunt. Hope to grab some of that fine, fine MI wine...

Turnout Records, 2011 Australians have always seemed to run a strange horse in the race of the hipster-driven aughts. Though arguably having a heavy hand in shaping and defining modern indie pop with acts like Architecture in Helsinki , most Aussie bands since then - whether by systematic design or their own disinterest and ineptitude - have failed to make any significant splash on our end of the Earth. Even local legend Nick Cave - boasting a revolving-door band of Bad Seeds that hail from so many different countries that Australia is often nothing more [...]
The talented Betty Wright helped out Wayne with a cameo back on Tha Carter III, when she featured on "Playing With Fire". It looks like he's returning the favor here, as he adds a verse of his own for a track off her upcoming collaborative album with The Roots. I was hesitant at first, but Wayne definitely goes back to his roots on this one; he's the perfect complement for this particular beat. Betty Wright: The Movie drops next Tuesday. Tweet

<!-- <!-- <!-- Here is a new joint from Betty Wright and Lil Wayne off her upcoming album "Betty Wright: The Movie" which drops November 15th. Questlove co-produced and co-wrote the album with Betty Wright. Thanks to Mikey Fresh for the heads up.

I can be a grumpy dude sometimes (it's the old age creeping in). Thankfully the world keeps finding subtle ways to remind me that I need to chill. For example, I was grumpy about a recent wedding (not because I didn't like the couple, but because I had to use a 1/2 day of vacation time to go), but then had an amazing time. Similarly, I was grumpy when I opened the email from Knoxville-based Nomadic Firs more or less because they attached this track to the email instead of linking out to it. But then I listened [...]
The Nomadic Firs' new single, "Vines" inspires a gliding, effortless visual imagery. A slow-motion time lapse between the diving board and the surface of the water, the vocals are buried in an unmistakable haze but there is an equally hard to miss arc, a narrative even. The band suggests for you to get outside behind a bouncy loop that would remind you of what might happen if Len remade "Steal

Nomadic Firs - Vines ( mp3 )
The best part of waking up.

The Vines apresentou I bet you look good on [...]

I am not really a music blogger. At least I don't think of myself that way. I am a music lover who happens to write (poorly) about music in hopes of sharing my passion with a few other likeminded souls. Music discovery is often total serendipity - hearing the perfect song at the perfect moment. I hope that someone has found a new favorite song or album or artist through Visible Voice - if that happens, then I've done what I set out to do. And I still discover music in that same [...]

Photo via The Vines' website When The Vines first appeared on the music scene, they were absolutely, and literally explosive (watch their classic " Get Free " and you'll see what I'm talking about). A combination of '60s garage rock and '90s alternative rock, The Vines' breed of Australian rock propelled them to superstardom, their debut album, Highly evolved , going double platinum in 2003. Energetic, powerful and crazy, The Vines are amazing; seriously, who has never heard of The Vines? Consisting of vocalist and lead guitarist Craig Nicholls, guitarist Ryan [...]
