It was an eclectic mix of bands at The Deli Magazine's second The Deli Presents... showcase at P.A.'s Lounge in Somerville on August 10th. It was the kind of bill that music lovers dream of—a little metal, a little folk, a little garage punk, and everything in between. First up were newcomers, Dirty Tongue (pictured above). With only 7 months behind them this guitar-and-drum 2-piece heavy metal jam band sounded as though they'd played together for years. Their mostly instrumental assault revealed killer proficiency [...]

On a calm late-summer Tuesday night at T.T. The Bear's, local lovlies THE FAGETTES, PAJAMA PEOPLE and their friends got noisy, but not quite noisy enough to drown out the wamp-wamps and wub-wubs of... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

I tend to think as drum solos mostly as an opportunity to go to the bar. Sure they're impressive, but ultimately dull, like juggling or finger-skating or making a major scientific breakthrough - no one cares. So you'd think there's nothing worse than a drummer going solo, but it happens quite often, Phil Collins did it, Ringo Starr did it, and more recently Phil Selway and apparently Travis Barker. What happens less is drummers going duo, which is the case with Hyde & Beast, a kinda bluesy indie outfit consisting of Futurehead's drummer David Hyde and ex-Golden Virgin's drummer Neil... [...]
Manchester-born Daley first caught our attention last year after his George Michael-esque guest vocal turn on the Gorillaz' Plastic Beach single "Doncamatic (All Played Out)" , but it wasn't until we heard the BBC Sound of 2011 longlist finalist rip through an amazing live acoustic rendition of Maxwell's "Pretty Wings" that we truly became sold on the newcomer, and was left eager to seek out anything else his lovely voice was attached to. Fast-forward a few months and the now-A&M-signed Daley has dropped [...]

A while back we reviewed Manchester Orchestra's latest album, Simple Math , and before that we let everyone hear "Virgin". Well, now the track has a video and it was directed by a fan of the band! Here's what they had to say: A funny thing happened to us in Rochester, NY this past spring. We were approached outside of our tour bus around 2pm by what we figured was one of our amazingly loyal fans wanting to say hello or maybe have us sign some stuff, etc. What [...]
The chilling video for Manchester Orchestra' s "Virgin" was actually made by a persistant fan (Ben Disinger). He came up to the boys in Rochester, NY and showed them the silent film he was working on. Simple Math was playing in the background, and "Virgin" came on, and the fan suddenly realzied how perfect the combination was. So a few months later, here is the finished proudct. Pretty intense stuff. Also, congrats to the band for getting 2 VMA's! Manchester Orchestra - "Virgin"

Manchester Orchestra have released a fan-made video for the track "Virgin" off Simple Math . The video is a perfect fit for the haunting and angry song that serves as the highlight to the band's third full length. I hope Manchester Orchestra hit Philly again soon. I never get enough of seeing these guys live. MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA - VIRGIN
Manchester Orchestra's new video for "Virgin" actually has a pretty interesting backstory. The band were approached by a fan in Rochester who hand delivered them his video for "Virgin" . Apparently, the video's creation came about as the fan was working on a film-school project while listening to Simple Math in the background. The synchronicity between the film and "Virgin" is wild, as it's eery contents match up perfect with "Virgin's" apocalyptic theme.
RIT is in the building! No, Manchester Orchestra's members didn't attend RIT, but the new official video for their song, Virgin, was created entirely by an RIT student! Not Some Kid status, right there. Here's what Ben Disinger, the RIT student who created the video, told us about it: "The film started off as a [...]

We were skeptical to say the least, but the more he talked about it, the more we were interested [...]
Hyde and Beast , a duo of The Futureheads' Dave Hyde and ex-Golden Virgins' drummer Neil Bassett have unveiled the video for their first single 'Never Come Back'. 'Never Come Back' is a very retro '60s/'70s inspired sound which is fleshed out with a sweet psychedelic edge. It will precede the release of their debut album Slow Down , released on August 12th via their own label, Tail Feather Records.

Busses will be the direct support for fellow Philly rockers Virtual Virgin tonight at PhilaMOCA. The Fishtown outfit draws from every artery branching from rock 'n' roll and oh how it makes them thrive. Busses will start down a path of buzzing 70s metal Zeppelined-out electrics and end up in an easier listening Cymbals Eat Guitars alternative 90s mood rock. Next thing you know you're in a shit storm of emotional post-punk wails and proggy post-hardcore Volta experimentation. In the journey of Busses, you don't know where you're starting and you certainly won't know where you'll end [...]

Last month Alex Metric premiered End of the World (ft. Charli XCX) on Annie Mac's radio show, the latest single off his first ever album Open Your Eyes , set to be released on August 22. An album of remixes and productions, Open Your Eyes is basically a compilation of his work from the past 2 years, and includes remixes of Phoenix's Lisztomania , N.E.R.D.'s Hypnotize U , and Beastie Boys' Sabotage , to name a few. This Alex Metric track really showcases the versatility [...]

"The Secret Plume" is the latest video from Seattle artist Virgin Of The Birds and it features early video of some very unique dancers. In fact, we saw a similar dancer in The Robot Ate Me's video for "On Vacation", which was eerie and surreal. Here, however, it complements Jon Rooney's melodies, which are often timeless. The video, under public domain, is footage "from La Creación de la Serpentine (La Creación de la Serpentina), directed Segundo de Chomón, Pathé Frères (1909)" as stated on the Abandoned [...]
