La primera probadita que acaban de poner a nuestra disposicion de este tributo [...]

Pleasant surprise in my inbox this week. It comes from the group Farewell Republic , which we can best describe as a spaced out funk, punk, indie rock band, with a pinch of washed out. That might sound like a lot, but they find a way to make it work. Farewell Republic have released a three track EP via bandcamp . Stream their single, WAKE, below. Farewell Republic - WAKE

Carbrain - The Wake One of the bands who came to Sarah Records with an established history, coming to the label with a reputation, not having their reputation shaped by it. From them forming in 1981 to arriving at Sarah in 1989 they did some things and went places that look good on paper/internet, played with and had members of bands that are fun and advantageous to namedrop, were on a record label with greater prestige than all Sarah will ever be able to [...]
Sonic expansionists Farewell Republic sent us their first track off their upcoming album Burn The Boats which is set for release in January 2012. If you've been seeing the likes of Brainfeeder 's Flying Lotus , Nosaj Thing , and TOKiMONSTA , you'll definitely be tempted to cheat when you check out Proximal Records ' latest compilation, Beat Stew Vol. 3, out August 1. This mixtape features tracks from the label's current roster, BearClaw , Benedek , Lawrence Grey , and Wake , as well as one of its creators, Carl Madison Burgin (a.k.a. Sahy Uhns ), in addition to other artists of a similar grain, like MATTHEWDAVID and [...]
We Talk Musical Influences and Favorites with White Life As hopeless music lovers, musical etymology is always fascinating to us. Learning what made a certain work what it is always gives us a richer understanding and appreciation of someone's craft. The Wake - Pale Spectrer "Punk goes pop. It's fun and guilt slowly dissipates. At the apex of the joy of "do-it-yourself" and the joy of pure pop, [...]
Newly reissued through Captured Tracks , it's the Wake's '89 single "Crush the Flowers." The New Order fan in me is having a fit right now.

Brooklyn via Ann Arbor young'ns Farewell Republic have released the dreamy, distortion-soaked single Wake , off their upcoming LP Burn the Boats and it's a savory, mouth-watering sample of what's to come from this arty, indie-rock quartet. Sivan Jacobovitz, Brian Trahan, Ryan Sloan and Bobby Matson have found that sweet spot between relentless, primeval punk-fuzz and melodic, hope-filled dream-pop and it appears they're unafraid to revel in it. Picture Vanilla Fudge doing a cover of The Association's Never My Love … there you go. The soulful, yearning vocals [...]
Factory and Sarah Recording artists The Wake are back in New York City. After making their stateside debut last year at New York City Popfest, the band was slated to perform at Seaport Music Festival. But due to the rain the show has been moved to Littlefield in Brooklyn. Known for singles such as "On [...]

![The Wake - On Our Honeymoon [video]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3441159_lg.jpg)
While this couple may not be bumpin' boots on their honeymoon, this track is more than enough to get you to do the horizontal mambo every morning [...day or night]. This one's been on relentless rotation ever since I snagged The Wake wax bundle on Captured Tracks ; and I've sort of made it a ritual to "wake up to The Wake" ever since. I'd say it's better than a cup of coffee or a cold shower and it gets me kicking and dancing uncontrollably—even before I turn myself upright for the day (not to mention, it's [...]

Now, let me preface this with an admission that I haven't listened to a single song by The Wake, which I'm guessing will be tantamount to sacrilege, being that I'm Scottish and all, and The Wake are all Scottish and shit too. But, just because I'm from Scotland doesn't mean I should be expected to know everything my homeland exports, but I will say that canned Haggis is pretty good but nothing compared to the real deal. Anyway, for Record Store Day today, Captured Tracks , the label that's released recent gems by Craft Spells , Dum [...]
