The Walkmen are set to release their follow-up to 2010's 'Lisbon', and will be releasing their new album titled 'Heaven' via Fat Possum on June 5th. Lead singer Hamilton Leithauser describes the new album as more mature... "The detachment you can feel throughout our younger records is gone. We felt like it was time to make a bigger, more generous statement." Check out the albums first track 'Heaven' and you get a feel for what Leithauser is talking about, as the sound is very pleasant and grown up.

The Walkmen have one of the most loyal fanbases around, establishing a cult following that's tough to really compete with. If you asked any radio listeners if they knew of the band, they'd swiftly tell you that they knew nothing about them. I wouldn't consider myself a full member of the cult yet, but I'm definitely a huge supporter of "The Rat", among some of their other jams. Just the other day we got to hear a brand new track from The Walkmen called "Heaven" and we mentione d that we'll hopefully get some more tracks prior to the album, Heaven, dropping on June 5th via Fat Possum Records. Well, we were right! Today you can enjoy a cut via We All Want Someone To Shout For called " Heartbreaker " which got played by the wonderful Huey Morgan on BBC 6 Music. Check it out below.

The Walkmen premiered the fantastic eponymous first single from their upcoming Heaven album a few days back, raising expectations again for group's June 5 release. A couple of weeks ago Pitchfork.tv posted a performance by The Walkmen as part of their "+13 series. The performance took place at Union Transfer in Philadelphia and featured the title track from the band's upcoming album Heaven . "Heaven" is a catchy as hell track but I just can't listen to the chorus without wanting to finish it off with "...the fifth of November." Heaven is out June 5 via Fat Possum/Bella Union
