Moments in Music Songs Locked in Time Recently back off their national tour, I coaxed The Wandas back on to a stage this week at The Middle East to play RSL's " Ocho de Mayo " lineup. Boy are we ever glad they did. Watch as guitarist Brent Battey grabs the mick and sings " Abandon Ship " and literally all hell breaks loose! One of this [...]

Not sure on which release by Dem Hunger 's new project Wanda Group this cut is gonna be (if any at all, but the artwork above would make up a great cassette cover), but in any case "Stomach Interrupter" got me with its new age-y, swirling and crackling synth pad, occasionally interspersed layers of synthesized strings and a simple, steady and slow, like really slow beat. Instant contemplation. Wanda Group - Stomach Interrupter

The Wandas have released their latest single, Longtime Running off their new self-titled album. Listen to it below. Also, be sure to catch the Wandas out on the road over the next two months on their headlining tour sponsored by Lands End Canvas in support of their critically acclaimed new album. For a full list of tour dates check out the band's website . Longtime Running by the WANDAS --Chrissy Prisco

I kind of dig the Wandas but it looks like their two month tour is skipping over both Atlanta and Austin. Boo. If you're in the mood for a little Old 97s -flavor material, check out their new track "Longtime Running" .

The Wandas have just released their second major studio release. On it, they subtly alternate from alt-country shuffles overlaid with pop-rock the way Wilco used to do it back in the day, to more driven straight rock-piano-pop songs that sound quite a bit like most of the rock bands that have achieved pop superstardom in the last ten years or so. They can come off as a bit world-weary, lovelorn, and reflective, but the overall emotional take away from the album is not entirely a sad one. At this point in the band's career, musicianship is no [...]

While this week's Best New Releases singles mix is smaller than most other BNR posts this year, it's chock full of fantastic songs from freshly minted albums that we recommend, especially for the first six or seven bands in this mix. Even though Beirut's new album, The Rip Tide, officially dropped Tuesday, the MP3 release [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Wrote earlier today that I was planning to post a longer post tonight. Well tonight is now and so far I've done exactly no work (and the same amount of planning) on any post. I guess this means business as usual then; I surf around a bit...check some mails...read a few tweets ...scan Facebook and who knows; maybe some time during the evening something interesting will pop up? Stick around...unless of course you have better things to do (which I sincerely hope for you)... This is always [...]
The Wandas - Do or Die "Do or Die" is the second released track from Boston's The Wandas upcoming self-titled album out at the end of August (30th). The 602s and 702s rock influences are evident on this very catchy track that has one of the most memorable and brain-adhering chorus lines that you won't get tired of listening to again and again. This album is shaping up to be a major breakthrough for a Boston band that has a fantastic timeless sound that I think a lot of people are really going to [...]

Today's song is "Forever & Ever" by The Wandas . This song is off the Boston quartet's new self-titled album which is set for release on August 30th. The band approached this collection of road-tested songs with a retro recording process, determined to bring back the warmth and natural ambient feel of 602s and 702s recordings. Surrounding themselves with rich instruments such as a Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer Electric Piano, Hammond B3 Organ and analog delay pedals, the band recorded the record in six days, most of the songs completed in 3 takes or less. Listen [...]
