Canadian singer-songwriter makes genuine folk record, and it's good! This is the second effort from Tamara Lindeman, a singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Ontario and a sometime member of the band the Bruce Peninsula. The retro cover, for once, isn't merely hipster homage -- this really could be an album cut more than 35 years ago, one that's on par with "lost" artists such as Vashti Bunyan and Karen Dalton. Lindeman, of course, is her own woman, something she demonstrates via "Traveler", "Everything I Saw",...

Facebook Nestled amidst some concert announcements in a post last week were a couple of odd one-offs for No Joy and PS I Love You which were not part of any announced tour or timely promotional cycle. It didn't occur to me to ask why, but just a little bit of thought would have made the answer obvious - Wavelength . The dates of their shows corresponded to the four-day weekend of the Toronto music series' twelfth anniversary festival, and though neither of those acts is properly local - they [...]

CBC Radio 3 Track of the Day. Vish Khanna: "Everytime I listen to the Weather Station's latest album, All Of It Was Mine, I'm more and more smitten with Tamara Lindeman's singing and songwriting."

It was one of those great last week of summer show on August 25, 2011. After catching Hawksley Workman at the Ottawa Folk Festival . I was lucky to get a ride to Raw Sugar Cafe , thanks to a friend . I really wanted to see The Weather Station since it was a album release show for the new album " All Of It Was Mine ". The show started off with a Rolf Klausenser [...]
As summer begins to wind down to a close (already?!), the number of new releases each week starts to increase gradually the closer we get to the Christmas holiday. Oh my God, we're seriously like only about four months away from Christmas - that's just nuts. Anyways, this is a great week for new [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

In the last little while, I have been pretty obsessed with Karen Carpenter, captivated by her story and struggles, but mesmerized by her singing. Her voice is as close to perfect as any human's can be, but on top of having perfect pitch, Carpenter had an amazing delivery, a sensitivity to her lyrics and the emotional weight they carry that is beyond reproach. At the same time as I've been playing "Superstar" over and over again on my iPod, I've been spinning All Of It Was Mine by The Weather Station in [...]

Frank Yang Bruce Peninsula's Fire Sale comeback campaign, announced back in April , served many purposes. Besides helping to build anticipation for the band's long-awaited second album Open Flames , out October 4, it re-established in no uncertain terms why they were one of Toronto's most unique and promising bands before they were sidelined by medical drama in the late part of last year, but also served to introduce a considerably different lineup from the one that recorded their debut A Mountain Is A Mouth [...]

The Weather Station is the solo project of Bruce Peninsula member Tamara Lindeman. And her newest LP All Of It Was Mine , in comparison to her debut LP The Line , turns inward, seeming more concerned about closeness and intimacy. Lindeman embraces a stripped-down nature: a finger-picked acoustic guitar or banjo responsive to her poetic words and voice - never forced, but always natural. All Of It Was Mine 's sombre and vulnerable air reflects the production of the record in the cold basement of friend and producer [...]
![The Weather Station – All Of It Was Mine [Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3641867_lg.jpg)
Everytime I look at the album cover to The Weather Station 's All Of It Was Mine, it has that 1970s vintage folk-country style look. At first I thought it was a band Tamara was in. (Probably got confused with Entire Cities) But it happens to be only Tamara Lindeman. (Who also plays with Bruce Peninsula ) All Of It Was Mine is her second album and it is being released on You've Changed Records . The album is nine tracks filled with folky slow-coustic. I [...]
This week's The Neighbourhood Mixtape features a meandering track called "Everything I Saw" by Bruce Peninsula member Tamara Lindeman, better known as The Weather Station . I'll be interviewing Tamara for blogTO and I came across a live video session for her track above during research. She has such a lovely voice and since banjos always cheer me up (because it reminds me of Cletus from The Simpson), I [...]
The Weather Station is a songwriting vehicle for Toronto's Tamara Lindeman (a member of Bruce Peninsula ). Below you can listen to the breathy, banjo-driven folk tune "Everything I Saw" from the upcoming All of It Was Mine . The song's rustic, sunbaked sound is especially welcome now that summer seems to have finally arrived in Vancouver. Just think, it only took until the August long weekend to get hot. Go to Exclaim! for the full album details.

"all of it was mine" kommt am 16. des sonnenmonats im labeltypischen gewand. wenn the weather station gern mit [...]

When I first heard Tamara Lindeman's voice, it changed me. While that may sound overly dramatic, it's true. Her music wasn't just the result of teenage heartache. In fact, at the time, she was no musician. Tamara wrote songs and learned notes to help her get through her pain. Now, after an EP steeped in potential , successful full length , and endless note perfect harmonies with the likes of Daniel Romano and The Bruce Peninsula, it's hard to see Tamara as anything but a musician. She's a [...]
(Joe Fuda) I sometimes think that my taste in music has been ensconced in a tight little bubble, populated by the same players over and over again. I do get into a groove, so to speak, where records from a particular label catch my fancy, or the sounds and styles of a certain genre hit home more than others do. So no surprise then that I'm excited about the upcoming sophomore album from The Weather Station . All Of It Was Mine is out on Tuesday, August 16 on [...]
