As we noted over the weekend in The Year's Best Coverfolk, Part 1: Tribute Albums and Cover Collections , it's been a good year for full-album coverage. Overall, though, despite the fact that, in terms of sheer mass, covers from tributes overwhelm singletons in my collection, what I've found this year is that a significant majority of the songs that lingered, and demanded overplay, came from a mixed bag of borderline genre albums and single shot coverfolk tracks, via the usual sources, from YouTube, Soundcloud, studio appearances, website and bandcamp singles, and more. It's been a weird year here in tiny rural Monson, MA, and it keeps getting weirder: after a devastating tornado in June, and a hurricane and flood in August, last week's freak snowstorm hit us hard indeed, felling thousands of trees across the vast landscape, and knocking out power and phone lines for the vast majority of residents. Dov split from his band, Talia quit her job and The Wellspring began creating music in Dov's home studio, performing at "pass-the-hat" clubs around New York. Relocated to L.A., a town perhaps more welcoming of the duo's sweetly intimate, generally angst-free pop/folk songs, Rosenblatt and Osteen are set to re-release their 2010 [...]

Well, this looks like a pretty damn good tour lineup. The Wellspring (pictured at left) are the fresh face on the tour, with a debut self-titled EP re-released on Valentine's day. Plus, add in veterans Pete Yorn and Ben Kweller on the bill, and you've got the makings of a great show. The full schedule of shows is posted below (though New York City looks like it's being ignored for the time being). Pete Yorn/Ben Kweller/The Wellspring tour dates: 2/14 - Phoenix, AZ [...]
