As we get ready to bid adieu to another year of fantastic music, your faithful editor has made a list and checked it twice to choose what she considers the best of the year. Agree? Disagree? As always on here on TGTF, comments are welcome. 1. Noah and the Whale – 'Last Night on Earth' (Mercury) – With all the bad news about the economy in our faces each day and scandals rocking public institutions and public figures, we could really use something that can lift our cynical spirits.

Last night I had to relish the only Thursday appearance by my beloved Donkeys. Most everywhere will sing the praises of a last minute drive directed by Tebow that ended up winning the game. However, the defense led by a ferocious rookie, Von Miller, is making opposing QB's pay play after play. On one of Miller's sacks, Von landed his helmet in Sanchez's sternum and plowed him to the ground. I winced upon watching the replay and the reaction from Sanchez's face was priceless to see him get back up to continue the punishment. Elvis "Doom" Dummervil [...]

Manchester's The Whip's new album Wired Together is finally out. "Keep or delete" is the first single out of the album and it is a indie electro dance track that is taking over the indie discos. Download it for free! Check out the electro Ed Banger like Blue Satellite remix:
Detroit emcee Doss The Artist recently introduced his 9Live series which represents nine new tracks which will be released on a per week basis in preparation of his upcoming album 86 Miles Tall . The first track in the series "Shapeshift The Whip", features fellow Detroit emcee Greenlee, along with production from Hir-O Voyage Home . The track is an entertaining and fun street anthem. You can stream and download "Shapeshift The Whip" after the jump. Download: Doss The [...]

Secret Weapon is the first single to be taken from The Whip's landmark second album "Wired together". In many ways Secret Weapon is the most commercial offering from the three-piece Manquinien outfit. With it's indie pop-synth verses and huge sing along chorus this track has more hooks than your local B&Q. The Alex Metric, Stabber & LuckyBeard Remix and the 123 Version are really cool but it's more about the two remixes by DJ Birdee and Lazy Ants . Both are my favourites and only available on BEATPORT ! So go and [...]

Detroit emcee Doss The Artist releases his first single "Shapeshift The Whip" off the upcoming mixtape 9Lives . "Shapeshift The Whip" features fellow Detroit emcees Greenlee and is produced by Hir-O. The record is also the first of a weekly series from Doss dropping one track a week from the 9Lives tape. All of which gears up for the release of his album 86 Miles Tall . DOWNLOAD| [...]

Here is a compilation of tracks that I've been listening to alot and playing in my sets over the last month or so. Enjoy! This first track is just some pure distorted electro. Not a lot of this being made anymore, I definitely miss it. I Need - The Loops of Fury After playing the "Bassmentality" party in Toronto a few times over the summer, this track definitely has a special place in my heart. Bassmentality (Original Mix) - [...]

In another life I was an Aryan joyboy, blonde, lithe and jittery with dopamine enhancing club drugs, candy flipping and flipping out with the best of them, eating piles of Belgian waffles in Stuttgart at four in the morning after taxing my rock hard calves from 9 or 10 hours of constant bouncing, of indeterminate gender orientation and sexual preference. Indifferent to run-on sentences and fragments alike. I recall said other life fondly, although in this one I am a staid and hirsute Ashkenazi. New album "Wired Together" by The Whip acted as a sort of the aural trigger for [...]

Tweet Listen to The Whip - "Wired Together" below. Sign up for eMusic and download 25 songs for free ! I often judge an album, particularly a dance or a pop album, by how well I can cook to it. This may sound like a weird standard, but just bear with me. See, much like zoning out to my favorite music, cooking relaxes me. And I know I'll love an album if it lets [...]

Sometimes one just isn't enough! That's why we're coming back with ANOTHER CMJ PARTY! . Wait, we said that already didn't we? Sorry but we jumped the gun on this announcement last week, had to make a few changes but we're now ALL SET TO GO! We're bringing back our buddies Some Kind Of Awesome but this party is going to be so crazy and so much fun, we knew that we would need that extra extra bit of pure...

Webster Hall is always one hell of a party. It's dark, grimy, and loud with the ever present scent of stale beer and sweat. Cheap shots of well whiskey and Pabst Blue Ribbons are the drinks of choice. It's the type of place where you leave your high class attitude and your personal space requirements at the door. We had the chance — and the pleasure — of getting down and dirty with Alex Metric, Mord Fustang and Lazy Rich last Friday night. Click past the break for more. [...]

Sometimes one just isn't enough! That's why we're coming back with ANOTHER CMJ PARTY! We're bringing back our buddies Some Kind Of Awesome but this party is going to be so crazy and so much fun, we knew that we would need that extra extra bit of pure raw energy and fun (also SEXY). That's why we're happy to announce that we're bringing one of our closest friends Whips and Chords along for this awesome party! Friday, October ...

The 2011 festival season may be behind us, but that doesn't mean the dancing should stop. The Whip , with their second album 'Wired Together', looks primed to be at the forefront of dance party shenanigans this autumn. Some of the songs have already been examined in my In the Post in June ( read it here ) so I'll only be touching on songs not previously written about in this album review. The album begins with 'Keep or Delete', a song rather apropros for the current digital generation and a good [...]

Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, one of the albums we've included in this week's batch of new-release picks (we're not telling you which) was technically unleashed on the world last week, but look - we can't always fit everything in at once, so we reserve the right to rejigger the rules once in a while to make sure you don't miss out on anything. After all, between the synth-poppy sounds we've got lined up from both sides of the Atlantic, the minimal-tech moves of a crafty Brazilian producer, and the anything-goes approach of a veteran beatmeister, you should [...]
