Stereogum Sure, Radiohead have come up with some cool merch in their day but they've got nothing on potential collaborator Jack White. Think about it: How many times have you found yourself in dire need of a stylish balsa plane that represents your choice listening tastes - but you can only find a Plane Jane model flyer? The White Stripes frontman knows the feeling, and being the beneficent generator of pop-kitsch that he is, he's got you covered. Where lesser artists fail [...]

The seventeen years young song-stress Zella Day recently dropped this hauntingly delicate twee folk rendition of the White Stripes standard. We're sure it does Jack proud. #RADAR Zella Day - No Sleep To Dream Zella Day ( Facebook ) Rating 8.2
Having missed the chance to see Sigur Rós live, only to hear that they were going on "indefinite hiatus," we spent a reasonable amount of the last couple of years cursing ourselves for our foolishness. But happily, the band sent word earlier this year that it was reuniting, and this week sees the release of the new album Valtari . It seems that wishing really hard can make your dreams come true, because apart from Sigur Rós, some of our other favorite '00s bands — namely At the Drive-In, Death from Above 1979, and Grandaddy — have all announced in [...]

Contribution from Liz Maher: Roseland Ballroom - May 21, 2012 - Jack White is touring in support of his acclaimed debut solo album Blunderbuss . Tonight he has the all male band, Los Buzzardos, backing him up; the all female Peacocks will be up the following night. Roadies and guitar techs scurry around in uniform black suits with blue ties and suspenders making sure an [...]

Ah, the good ol' confusing days of Jack and Meg... I went to the Sasquatch Music Festival in George, Washington (probably my favorite town name ever) this past Saturday, and got to see many excellent artists: Blitzen Trapper, Alabama Shakes, Kurt Vile, The Dum Dum Girls, Metric, Tune-Yards (possibly the highlight), St. Vincent (her final song was completely sung while crowd surfing), and Jack White. (I caught a couple of songs by the Roots as well, but it was getting very late and I had to take off.) While I've featured most of [...]

Jack White - Blunderbuss ( Third Man/Columbia ) Band Of Skulls - Sweet Sour ( Vagrant ) When the White Stripes quietly called it a day last year , we were in still in the glow of Jack White’s many side-projects and production credits to really allow the news to sink in. If the idea of a Stripeless world has finally got you down, a quick scan of the college radio playlists show there are plenty of [...]

Walloping Australian rawk duo DZ Deathrays are primed for something of a breakthrough this summer. Of course, it never hurts when no less an authority than NME names you one of the 20 Most Exciting New Bands of 2012. The band's debut full-length, Bloodstreams , dropped last week from the fine folks at 3|4 Records. The whole mess (in a good way) sounds a little like Death From Above 1979 juxtaposed with the icky thumpiness of later period White Stripes to these grizzled ears. In other words, just the [...]
Jack White and The Peacocks - Roseland Ballroom - May 22nd, 2012 I’ve always been a casual Jack White fan: I admired him from afar, appreciated his musical brilliance, and was casually into his bands, but I never really delved into his catalogue; with six full-length White Stripes albums, two fronting The Raconteurs , two in The Dead Weather , and his debut solo album "Blunderbuss" , the man's discography is vast, [...]
What's better than hearing road stories from the hilarious Carrie Brownstein, of Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag, and Portlandia fame? Well, how about hearing road stories from an animated Carrie Brownstein? As the latest subject of Pitchfork's "Frames" series , which creates animated shorts to accompany audio from interviews with the likes of GZA and Fucked Up, she takes on the mystique of afterparties - which, as she tells it, never seem to live up to the hype. The White Stripes make a cameo in the tale of one college party that kicked out Sleater-Kinney, but the [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News Erika Goldring, Getty Images On Monday night, Jack White played the first of two sold-out gigs at New York City's Roseland Ballroom. Performing with Los Buzzardos, his all-male backing band, White treated the crowd to an 18-song set that included songs from his new solo album, Blunderbuss, as well as his hits with the White Stripes , Dead Weather , Raconteurs and Danger Mouse [...]
Jeff Yorkes takes footage from Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane and dubs it with The White Stripes' song, “The Union Forever.” Turns out, most of the lyrics from "The Union Forever" were inspired from Welles' movie. [via TDW ]
As you may have heard, Jack White has recently revealed some beef he has with the Guinness Book of World Records folks over the White Stripes' record for "Shortest Musical Concert" , which was recognized in the 2009 edition , but removed in subsequent additions. Guinness says that since publishing the record, which was set with their 2007 one-note concert at St John's in Newfoundland, Canada, others have challenged its validity - some claiming that just appearing on stage was enough to break the record . [...]

little hurricane, a dirty blues duo from sunny San Diego, deliver one catchy straightforward sound. One half of the two-piece is Anthony “Tone” Catalano on lead vocals and guitar; the second half being Celeste “CC” Spina, a spunky female who rocks out on drums and also supplies the backing vocals. It’s easy to conjure up comparisons of The White Strips (or stretching it a bit here, The Black Keys, minus the female aspect, that is). Tone’s voice echoes Jack White’s emotional power which gives rise to an instinctive weighty delivery. Even more arresting are CC’s ghostlike empty back up vocals [...]

Jack White is a man that needs no introduction. He's one of the most iconic rock stars that have emerged in the past decade and has achieved some significant things in our time. It's safe to say Jack White sounds like nobody and nobody sounds like Jack White. That's quite the distinction. Blunderbuss is the first solo effort from Jack White and it's a fantastic record. It was released in late April and if you haven't already got it (or want a duplicate copy) then we have a pleasant contest for you! [...]

By Erik Ehlert He is simply calling this project Jack White . The prolific gunslinger that can make his six-string talk like perhaps no other can has just released his new album, "Blunderbuss." White, who has already sold out two nights at the Wiltern later this month, did a bonus show on Monday night at downtown's cozier Mayan Theatre, and the crowd was into it from the first riff of opener "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground." Dusting off a White Stripes song was an easy crowd-pleaser and a nice [...]
