Spinning off from cult Denver band The Vanity , where he played bass from 2005-2007, Kamtin Mohager is now known as The Chain Gang Of 1974 . He's adopted a much sleeker sound – more electro-influenced and poppier. The opening to his track "Matter Of Time" is a pulsing wall of synths recalling Jan Hammer's score for Miami Vice . Then we're into a smooth yacht-rock melody underpinned by funky bass work. But before you think this is pure retro-cheese, Kamtin's husky, decidedly un-80s voice spins a poignant tale of loss and abandonment. [...]

Check out a guilt-free download of "You Look Better When I'm Drunk," the brand-new single by spiffy-dressed pop rockers White Tie Affair. It seems the Chicago trio has been bitten by the electro bug as well, infusing this track with a steady dose of pumping synths and savvy soundboard action. Giddy title aside, "You Look Better When I'm Drunk" could be a steady summer anthem that is reminiscent of Metro Station, LMFAO and 3OH!3 White Tie Affair "You Look Better When I'm Drunk

Having previously worked with Ellie Goulding , Marina & The Diamonds , Sky Ferreira , the White Tie Affair , and their latest protegees, Samuel and Alex Winston , NYC production duo The Knocks have just debuted their first single: "Blackout," a hands-in-the-air party track. Sung by one half of the duo (Mr. Jpatt), the song is nothing short of a rave happy celebration, combining shouty vocals with an indie-dance groove a la Passion Pit and The Black Kids . DL : [...]

Another year, another Warped Tour. But unlike the past couple years, instead of just giving you a visual overview, I wanted to get you guys a first hand account of the show, so I got my good friend, Dan (over at mynameisfoxtrot ), to come along and put words to the combination of crazy and awesome that is the Warped Tour: It hasn't hit noon yet and the unforgiving sun is scorching the Pomona Fairplex. This is my first time at Warped tour, and I am amazed by the atmosphere. My fellow [...]
I was browsing around ESPN.com just now and started reading a headline about former Oakland Raiders Center Barret Robbins, who went AWOL just before the Super Bowl a few years ago and then fell down a messy slope involving drugs, positive steroids tests and jail time. The story revealed that Robbins blamed himself for the Raiders' Super Bowl loss, and his overall demeanor now that he has been released from prison and is now in a halfway house. Normally a story like this would have absolutely no bearing on the day-to-day life of VLM, until I saw this passage: [...]

In today's music scene, the block party never stops. All the silver windbreakers come out of the woodworks, the shell-toed ADIDAS get laced up once more and everyone never wants the dance party to end. With the newer craze of rock music blasting out of the old-fashioned stereos combining with the biggest wave of dance music in recent years, its arrival has sent a blaze of aspiring block party rhythm makers. Chicago's very own dance rock troupe, The White Tie Affair , certainly has tapped into this hybrid fountain of musical dance and given the youthful kids a run [...]

lastnightsparty First track is from the Overthrill NLLR Mix , that's the link to the actual mix. It's a mash-up of SebastiAn and Lady Sovereign which I thought was especially good. Not sure who posted it first, but I'll give the credit over to Trashbag Kids and NLLR . A toned down awesome remix of Justice by Alan Braxe and Fred Falke . Always looking out for these guys, they have a fantastic sound. Lastly, a mash-up [...]

I know, it's been long. Really, really long. Almost like last summer, when I've been shut away in internet-less Swanage. Ah, let's not think about that one. Anyway, two festivals, exams and some accidents concerning my beloved car have kept me from posting, but now I'm on vacation and I have time.. until two weeks, where I'll be heading to another festival. Anyway, since I embarrassingly failed to post some pictures of Southside Festival, I'll do so with the Melt! one. It was absolutely amazing, though exhausting. T(I)NC were lovely as ever, Late Of The [...]
The White Tie Affair When I first got these mp3s a while back, my first thought was "Oh my god, HIGH SCHOOL!" It's been a while since I've been in high school so I had to pass these songs past my little brother Jerry to see what he thought. And he approved and liked them enough to make me send him the mp3s. WTA is dressed like Maroon 5 and rocks like Simple Plan/Good Charlotte. So if you're in HS, be ready to close the door to your [...]

...it's The White Tie Affair . Described as a mix between Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5 and Panic at the Disco (which honestly, are 3 bands that I can't really get into), WTA however got me bouncing with their as yet unreleased remix of their single, Allow Me to Introduce Myself ...Mr. Right . The White Tie Affair is touring intensively this summer and hit up the Blender Theater at the Gramercy on August 14 with Kill Hannah. mp3: The White Tie [...]

The White Tie Affair is a heavily influenced pop band, almost a throwback to the boy bands of the 90's, except not. In retrospect, they have taken all the catchy greatness of bands like FOB or Panic, mixed it with the groovy sequencings of Timbaland to produce a guilty pleasure to some, but really entertaining music for others. Hailing from Chicago Illinois, these guys have taken pop music, and improved it ten fold (for myself at least). Perhaps the only band who can actually be considered mainstream pop that I really enjoy. The White Tie Affair offers [...]
