As if Le Miel du Mois wasn't already on fire, Steph and Kristin of F o r t h e b e a t took the popular mixtape's best of the best to provide you with 9 of '09, 9 remixes and 9 originals from our first official year in business. Just when you think this tape gonna slow down and its safe for you to take a coffee break, you get smacked with a banger, then another and another... Sit your ass down and listen fool!! With the year closing in I couldn't think [...]

On June 6, 2006, FensePost went live. Since its inception, I've written more than 1,000 album reviews and countless features, track reviews, live reviews, and video reviews. My collection has grown exponentially. I have a room in my house devoted entirely to records. CDs go in the living room and I'm out of shelving space. To say FensePost has become a big part of my life would be an understatement. It's as much a second job as it is a hobby. Above photo of [...]

Today has been DJ Screw slow but I am Dunkin Donuts extra large coffee hyper, so I'm gonna let you in on some tracks that have been chilling on my d-top. Here's a track from The Whitest Boy Alive , a side project of one of the soft spoken Kings of Convenience fellows. Saw this one making some noise on The Hype Machine and it's much more funky that I expected! The Whitest Boy Alive - 1587 | YouSendIt This next [...]

Today's Radio Dick will digress into semi-rant this weekend, not particularly because the tracklist I've got below is bad, but more because I'm knee deep in New Moon nonsense. Considering the soundtrack issue is relevant and thought-provoking, I wanted to follow up on my already disdainful, yet mildly successful take on my initial fears and frustration with the album's indie-heavy cast. I work in an American high school. This means I had half of my classes skip school on Friday because they were up until 4AM catching the first showing of New Moon [...]

i kinda really dig this track. its from the whitest boy alive , a side project of kings of convenience member erlend oye (along with sebastian maschat, marcin oz and daniel nentwig). according to wikipedia, the group started out in indonesia (which seems a little odd for a couple of scandinavians) as an electronic dance group. while they are no longer very electronic, theyve still got a nice beat going on a lot of the time (while still remaining totally chill). "15173, todays track from the 2009 album "rules", imparticular has a total [...]

O Vale Open Air [...]

Music is everybody's possession. It's only publishers who think that people own it." - John Lennon Lots of work to do on a Saturday so here's a quick post for all the people who hate on sampling. Long story short Edwin Birdsong was so inspired by this beautiful girls figure that he felt compelled to write a song about it, Daft Punk sampled it and had all the kids dancing, The Whitest Boy Alive covered it and made it chill and Kanye sampled Daft Punk and gave to it to new [...]

through the air there's a fluffy cloud falling down as rain ♫ Kings of Convenience - Boat Behind Kings Of Convenience's new album, Declaration Of Dependence , is the perfect album for chilly Sundays. It's light, tender, and intimate; perfect for nursing your body back to reality after a Saturday's worth of BAC-alteration. I first fell in love with Kings' 2002 groovy remix album, Versus , which set me up for some disappointment when I discovered how sparse and mellow their music really is. Except for "I'd Rather Dance [...]

soviet - "commute" (download) I saw these guys open for Add N To X back in 2005 and I fell in love with them. They put on a great show, and they're record was great. I went a few years without ever thinking about them until I saw Soviet show up on a collaboration with Erlend Oye (Kings of Convenience/Whitest Boy Alive, etc), so I decided to dig this record up again, and amazingly, it still stands up. This stuff is sort of timeless. It's [...]
