Which is not to say that their earlier works were overly simplistic or lacked ambition - it's arguable that what they accomplished within the constraints of the 3-minute pop song was as impressive as anything did once free to indulge their creative impulses - so hearing young Blur cover young Who [...]

I'm always on the lookout for the right beat and a massive drop, which is why this song is a perfect example of how both elements go really well together. And if you're DJing a set, you'd also know that sometimes things need to get a little more tribal, especially if you're trying to heat the beach up in a different way. Shout out to Boris Lipsman for the find. Tujamo and Plastik Funk - WHO (Original Mix) If you're not a one trick DJ, you'd [...]

Gothamist Yesterday's news cycle brought not one but two treats for the baby boomers or those with boomer-like musical tastes. First, hot on the heels of the news that Bob Dylan would be releasing his 35th studio album, entitled Tempest , on September 11, came an extensive touring itinerary in support of the record that would bring the legendary artist - along with Mark Knopfler , himself not a no one - to the Air Canada Centre on November 14. Or course, as anyone who's seen Dylan [...]

I've learned two things from hanging out with jazz lovers this week: where to find good food and how to listen to horns. And this song's got nice horns. That solo saxophone starts off in such a classy and funky way that when the track follows up with the more edgy guitar riffs it makes for a nice surprise. And you wouldn't expect it, but Annie Clark' s soft voice sounds just right next to Byrne's howls. A collaboration between David Byrne and St. Vincent is even more than bringing together the voices of two generations, it's also bringing together two people [...]
