Buy Beach House 's album "Bloom" : Vinyl | MP3 | CD Beach House is on a short list of bands who have a distinctively beautiful sound of their own. They have been imitated by many bands who ultimately fall short of achieving the cavernous depths of Victoria Legrand 's voice and the simple brevity of Alex Scally 's musicianship. "Bloom" is Beach House 's first release since 2010's "Teen Dream" , which [...]

We love Slowdim here at GFP . Led by front-man Paul Sentz the band make brilliant, fuzzy, heart-on-sleeve pop songs and we raved about their debut EP Spirals , released last year, to much pretty much anyone that we could. Wishing Well, a track taken from that EP, made our Top 20 songs of 2011, so on a recent trip over to the states we asked them to play it for us and here they are doing just that... * * * [...]

Let's go get it. From the artist: An assortment of random tracks I made over the last year or so. Mainly just beats/loops, but also a couple of things I could never really finish. So instead of having them laying around, I thought I'd share them. Possibly not to everyone's tastes, but heyho! Tracks: For You Friend Hello Jimmy Wishes Something Progress I'm Tired Lenient I Need You 2am Sleepless

So the Stone Roses have announced a set of reunion gigs , at the very same park that Oasis played their rather uninspiring reunion gig a couple of years back. Yes, I have bought my tickets and yes I do share that sinking feeling that they will be good-and-I'm-glad-I-saw-them-b ecause-they're-legends-but-rea lly-they-were-never-going-to-b e-as-good-as-they-were-so-it-w as-a-bit-of-a-let-down. However, I digress. The point of this rambling intro is to highlight an apparent resurgence in the Baggy genre. The announcement of the Stone Roses reunion appears to be the pinnacle of the movement, riding on the wave of a Baggy revival, supported by an array of bands taking [...]
Today is lovely and without that stifling humidity of yesterday. I stood on the deck a while earlier taking in the morning. It was quiet then, but the day has gotten louder. I can hear a couple of lawnmowers and some machinery sound I don't recognize. I had to go to Dunkin Donuts to buy coffee this morning as I had forgotten to buy cream. The route took me over the highway, and I caught a glimpse of the stream of cars leaving the cape. I guess everyone had the same idea: leaving early. The cars going down cape were [...]

The official video for Sulk's debut single, "Wishes", is now available. Give it a watch and check them out at http://www.sulktheband.com/

New band UK band SULK offer up a strong debut with the track for "Wishes". The tune, which sounds as if it could be an outtake from The Stone Roses s/t sessions (we mean that in the best possible way.), borrows heavily from the Madchester heyday of bands like The Roses, The Happy Mondays & Inspiral Carpets. SULK takes that classic sound and updates it with a more modern melodic and instrumental sensibility. See what you think below. SULK - Wishes SULK [...]
The thunder and lightning were tremendous last night. It was an amazing storm. My room lit up several times from the lightning, and the house was shaken by the thunder overhead. I loved every minute of it. Yesterday was ugly and hot. Today is cool and dry, a gift from the storm. The sunlight seems muted. It lacks the glare the heat brings. The next few days will be in the 702s and the nights in the 502s. I think that is perfect weather. My passport came back yesterday with its Ghanaian visa. I've looked at that visa [...]

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest said he expects to hear from Simon Cowell when his new US X Factor is a ratings winner. Seacrest, 36, recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and spoke about his pal and former American Idol judge Simon Cowell's upcoming show The X Factor. Asked if he had spoken to Cowell about it, he said: "Actually I did hear from him, I spoke to him when he was overseas on a little bit of a break and he didn't comment about the new show. "No he didn't bring up the new show. But he likes to [...]

Try not to fall in love with Still Corners. Ironically their track 'Don't Fall In Love' will be willing you on all the way, but there is no way you will be able to resist. Rightly so as music of this kind is there for that reason and that reason only, it does it's job and then some. Back around August time we posted some of the bands new music, including ' Endless Summer' and 'Wish' , the latter has its own video. With these track's as a basis we decided we must hear and find out more [...]

Back in July we brought you information of an "up and coming" band by the name of Still Corners, we knew the bare basics on the band. We now know a little more, their official site has this to say. "With a deep love of film and sixties-sound production, Still Corners write dreamy pop songs, full of swirling organs, big drums and lush vocals." "Building on a reputation for heart-stopping live performances mixing film projection with soaring soundscapes, Still Corners have upcoming releases on Fierce Panda, Great Pop Supplement, and [...]
AUDIOVISUALS: Still Corners - Wish Transparency and the kind of visual effects that you might one day be able to make with an iPhone app (gorgeous all the same) accompany the short-spanning but perfectly delightful new Still Corners single. It's part of a double A side release on The Great Pop Supplement . Makes me hungry for a picnic.
