I've reached 1000 tweets on Twitter! Follow me here I haven't noticed this remix o f The xx's " VCR" that Matthew Dear remixed until now when YVYNL posted a DIY video to it. I only started watching because I thought the video would be interesting and quickly got hooked on to the remix. "VCR" is one of the tracks that stand out from the dark minimalistic, foggy sound in their self-debut album. I could have never expected the remix to turn [...]

(photo via crxshing) Last Friday on BBC1 Annie Mac debuted a new mini-mix curated by Jamie from The xx. I've posted a couple of these mini-mixes here before, it's kind of bewildering how someone can cram 20 tracks (tracklist in comments) into a 5 minute mix but that's what these are about and the results here are pretty great. Jamie xx Mini Mix for Annie Mac Due to the amount of well-done but low bitrate remixes making the rounds lately rumors have started [...]

Texts. Wonderful little things. If for no other reason than keeping a timeline. Remind you of certain things. Blurry events. Shorter form of the blogaruu to be true. Which my memory would be completely lost without. Unfortunately. If a few days go by. Without blogging on. Particularly when a fair old whack has gone on. [...]

The xx have essentially made everyone's lives better, wouldnt you agree? They come along, unannounced and unexpected and make a huge fuss of their gothic-post-punk-drummy music. Its beautiful really, its something your girlfriend wants to have sex while listening to; the band has never shied away from remixes, and now comes the song "Island" as the subject. The notable bands on the release are Delorean and Nosaj Thing, and the remixes between the two could not be any different. Note: we've posted a few of the xx songs before/also I can't wait [...]

Hello everybody!!! It is good to be back!! Sorry about the mass hiatus but I was in South America for a couple of months and it has taken me a month to get my head back. The XX - Crystalised (Popular Damage Assimilation) Reblogged with love from indierawk & jandro : If you haven't already started listening to The xx, DO SO RIGHT NOW. These UK youngsters are simply phenomenal. Download the Popular Damage Assimilation here . "You've applied the pressure to have me crystalised - and you've got the faith that I could bring paradise"

Reuse Recycle Remix is a feature where I take remixes that for one reason or another didn't earn their own post or didn't make it on Scene Not Heard. Some of these are super current (Basement Jaxx remix dropped about 2 hours ago) and some are a few months old. Maybe this is a digital collector's bin... Toro Y Moi - Timed Pleasure (Body Language Remix) Yeasayer - O.N.E. (XXXChange Remix) Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer (Afghan Raiders Remix) Massive Attack - Girl I [...]

I'm starting off the week with a twist with these two. Generally I am seriously opposed to mash ups, but in a sea of nostalgia I have caved. These two tracks throw back concepts to when we all started to learned how to blend tracks, and when you excitedly realised , "Oh shit, these sounds great together." The first of which is a Tape Deck Bros. song called "Science Fiction," which is an arpeggiated masterpeice which flawlessly fit with Gaga's new smash hit, "Telephone". The second is none other than the all familiar indie hero's of the UK, the XX, [...]

we weren't planning to go at first, but at the last minute, b and i got ourselves passes to see the xx and florence and the machine at the esplanade (many thanks v and a!). bursting with enthusiasm, florence delivered a spectacular show of epic proportions, with impressively high energy levels sustained to the very last song. in very stark contrast, opening band the xx operated with the barest of setups, presenting every note and breath to the audience's scrutiny. barring some rather disastrous sound engineering for the first few songs, the atmosphere they created was [...]

Heard Kissy play this great Foo Fighters remix the other night on his show. Also, this Sinden remix is the best Silvia remix I've heard and probably the best thing Sinden has done so far in my opinion. Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News After taking a year off from playing live, Hot Chip returned in grand fashion last night, playing an unofficial album release show at New York's Highline Ballroom. Billed as a part of the "MySpace Secret Show" series, the band debuted a number of tracks from their forthcoming release, 'One Life Stand,' and mixed in numerous favorites from their back catalog. Hot Chip shows are notoriously sweaty affairs, but the question was: would they be able to keep up the [...]

Every year after December and listmaking has come and gone, there's typically at least one album I really fall in love with (or much deeper in love with) in the months following. Basically something hits me, whether it's through repeat listening or just because I was generally ignorant during earlier listens, and suddenly I can't get enough. While The xx's self-titled debut wound up in a solid teenage ranking on my year-end list for 2009, I'm now beginning to think I greatly undervalued its power. It is quite the great record, and if you've not yet heard it or are [...]
