Thee More Shallows singer Dee Kesler and Ral Partha Vogelbacher lyricist Chadwick Donald Bidwell have joined forces to form a superduo called Fops. In the short time that Fops has been a band, they've already completed two full length albums. The first CD/LP, Yeth, Yeth, Yeth will be released worldwide next September via UK label Monotreme Records (65Daysofstatic, Nedry, Barzin). Check out the first MP3s from the album: MP3 Fops - Solid Copper Huntress
We're getting a strong Peter Bjorn and John meets 80s mascara pop vibe from Fops. More like it: Band Barometer: Strata, Zeph & Azeem, Thee More Shallows CD Review: "Book of Bad Breaks" by Thee More Shallows FREE MP3s: Mississippi Man + The Sermon + Ferocious Few

So we were just in Austin on Wednesday and Thursday for a career fair for my girlfriend. And it got me thinking about Austin's live music scene. While we were there I looked into a show and saw that Mumford & Sons was playing. However, the tickets that were originally $12 at the box office were now selling for $70 a piece on craigslist. That upsets me. Obviously, the market will bare what it can bare. However, if tickets are worth $70 and the band sells them for $12 maybe it was the band being cool [...]
![Thee Oh Sees / Intelligence – split – Mount Saint Mountain Records [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2243235_lg.jpg)
The holy grail, the one true moment, the END ... all that shit; that's what finding a record like this is all about. The fabled Thee Oh Sees / Intelligence split has been Out Of Print (OOP) fo' as long as I can remember, tough to find unless you wanna shell out $35-odd on e-Bay. I ended up paying $25 for it so ... it could be debated I got a good deal and vice-verse (and anyway I had Thee Oh Sees' tracks already on the [...]
![Tobacco - Fucked Up Friends - Anticon [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2012369_lg.jpg)
I look at this as the real follow-up to Tobacco 's other front-to-back BANG-er, Dandelion Gum , which he churned out with his band, Black Moth Super Rainbow . Fucked Up Friends , not Eating Us , has the beats, grooves and synth-it-all madness to stand the test of time where Tobacco's legend is concerned. And, to be fair, this does sound exactly like BMSR, the only difference being a guest rapper [...]

Well, it's that day again , the day to gather around with family and rub a long fork like utensil and a knife over a very dead piece of poultry. Pass the cranberry sauce 'cause Grandpa is going to tell you about the weather and the news. It might be time to start bracing yourself for an extended amount of time with your nuclear family. Time to find your zen, get in your happy place and endure the hot coals of superficial niceties. If you find all this togetherness a little awkward (Like Me), it's also the day to [...]

Until a couple of months ago when I was introduced to anticon records through listening to Why? 's Alopecia on some strong recommendations and learning that Anathallo had signed to the label, I had no idea that anticon. records existed. Sure I had familiarity with some of their artists (especially Dosh, who I've seen a number of times in concert with Andrew Bird), but after recently began checking out their catalog, I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this label earlier. Their entire philosophy towards music (found in the label's about section ) is fascinating, as is [...]

The Walkmen - In the New Year A wailing good time with organ-drenched choruses and all sorts of jangly goodness. One of, if not the best song from their latest, You and Me , which is terrific. Jadakiss feat. Jay-Z - Who Run This Jada, or Al Qaeda, his less than clever gangstaish tag (but why not, it rhymes) gets some help from Jiggaman on this track from Jada's new LP. Jay adlibs in place [...]

hailing from san francisco, ca, thee more shallows create multi-layered musical intensity full of synthesized moments, flashes of post-rock, pulsating drum breaks, lush strings and narrative whispered vocals settling into loud cries, that share an experimental story without overdoing it. after struggling to find a more dedicated label, the trio signed to anticon records in 2007 releasing their third full-length studio album book of bad breaks , taking elements from their past work and logically progressing from everything they ever recorded. l i s t e n [...]

This just in, I have way too many bands I want to write about. After this post, there'll still be ten bands bookmarked, and that is just outrageous. I'll try to whip through at least a couple over the next few days. First up is Thee More Shallows , a band hailing from one of my favorite musical cities, San Francisco. 3hive classed them into slowcore rock, which I suppose fits fairly well. You can tell it's rock music, but it's certainly not rock 'n roll. It will not get anyone excited on the dance floor. In [...]
