There are many reasons to arrive early to the Treasure Island Music Festival this weekend: short lines for the festival shuttles , plenty of time to explore the festival grounds , picking out choice spots at the Bridge and Tunnel Stages , and most importantly, catching this year's local openers . This year's set of locals represent some of the best of the Bay. Geographer will open the festivities on Saturday, while Weekend and Thee Oh [...]
Dakin's taking the week off to play with his cat and get ready for the Treasure Island Music Festival. I'm ready for the festival - Friendly Fires, Cut Copy, Explosions in the Sky, Death Cab For Cutie, Empire of the Sun, Battles, Geographer, Aloe Blacc, many more, bring it! - so I'm suggesting shows for [...]

Thee prolific Oh Sees have a new full length album coming in November, but the band's also got a new 73 as part of Edition Fieber's artist-curated series of releases . You can listen to both songs from the 73 below, and can hear artist David Shrigley's companion 73 over at EF. A word of warning before you get your wallet out: the price tag EF has put on this set is insane (to the tune of 129 Euros plus shipping). (Via Pitchfork ) Thee Oh [...]

Let me pull the curtain back from the magic show for a moment. When it comes to music and me passing music on to you, I'm less a bold explorer and more an aggregator. I'm internet obsessive. My girlfriend, sweet patient woman that she is, has to pull me back from the webs more times [...]

If you're anything like me, you know how difficult it can be to keep track of all of the new music that's constantly floating around the Internet. Here's our latest month-in-review mix collecting some our favorite new (or new to us) songs recently posted on the website. Gathered in the mix are eighteen (!) new tracks that were posted on TheBayBridged.com in September, with links below to download each of them individually. The Bay Bridged - Best of the Blog September 2011 Mixtape Tracklisting: [...]

Another bonanza month of top tunes, all rounded up for you in one perfect download mix. Here are the September highlights together, as always, with a couple of top-notch new tracks too. Download The Migrant – The Hurricane mp3 (from Amerika) Distinguished by a slow blues refrain, handclaps and a mournful vocal, it is one of those tunes that sounds like it has been around forever. Download Diarrhea Planet – Warm Ridin’ mp3 (from Loose Jewels) A magnificent cacophony of guitars, pounding bass, thundering drums and begs for [...]

After slowing down the RPMs for just a brief moment, Thee Oh Sees are to release their second record this year with Carrion Crawler / The Dream. The band are back on their distinctive sounding brand of garage rock; check out the track below as you stare into the insanity that is the album cover above. Carrion Crawler

I don't know if there is any band currently performing that continues to not only elicit the kind of excitement Thee Oh Sees elicit for me, but also with each and every album live up to that nugget of electricity rattling about in my stomach. Though Castlemania, with its crazy voices and impromptu flute solos, [...]

Consequence of Sound turns four years-old today, which in internet years is about seven decades. Quick, without looking, can you name two songs on last week's Top 10 list? One song? See I barely got two off the top of my head. Things move quick and yesterday's Lana Del Ray quibbling is tomorrow's Lana Del Who? I'm always in search for a song that can withstand more than a day, or a week, or maybe the golden song that I can listen to for a year straight. I'm still waiting for that perhaps [...]
Thee Oh Sees ::: Photo by Josh Lovseth In trying to appeal to the widest possible audience, Bumbershoot is still hosting acts that aren't necessarily for THE mass market. The reverb-thick spazz-pop of John Dwyer's Bay-Area five-piece is more rhythmic than melodic. Dwyer's quarter-understandable rant-singing isn't exactly drawing anyone in. But this, to be sure, is [...]

While I was at the End of the Road Festival I picked up a cheap (and thoroughly enjoyable) early CD by Thee Oh Sees in the Rough Trade tent sale. I'm not sure what relevance that has to this, their new track, Carrion Crawler from their forthcoming record Carrion Crawler / The Dream out on In The Red Records other than this is also thoroughly enjoyable too. Available on November 15th. Download Thee Oh Sees - Carrion Crawler mp3 (from Carrion Crawler / The Dream) [...]

I'm not going to go into my love affair with San Francisco (and its inhabitants, restaurants, bands). I'm not. But when the lights go down in the city, and the sun shines on the bay ... do I wanna be there in my city? Oh ooh whoa. Whoa ohhh oh ooh whoa. I'm slightly convinced that John Dwyer is insane (yet not as insane as I am for quoting Steve Perry). The leader of San Fran's Thee Oh Sees has taken every project he's been involved with to the far reaches and nether-regions of thee arty [...]

Tweet Thee Oh Sees are one highly prolific band, churning out a new album every year since 2003 and along with bunch of double releases as well as EPs they're clocking in at somewhere between 25-30 releases in eight years. Such is the case now with The Oh Sees . Not content with already having released an album this year they've already got another lined up, and the first track from it is "Carrion Crawler". A jangling garage rock tune with a Phantom Of The [...]
