Hello Petey Dammit. I am Mikala Taylor. From Vancouver, currently in Toronto, saw you live in San Francisco last year, and I look forward to hanging out with you in Primavera Sound in Barcelona this year. Can I buy you a drink in Spain and if so, what would you like? Hello Mikala , thank you very much for offering me a drink. I reckon I would like a beer, a cheap watery one. I'm drinking for the marathon, not the race, haha. [...]
It's difficult to avoid getting disillusioned by the myriad of homogenous music that is constantly being released. However, Thee Oh Sees have been combating this trend by putting out records that are consistently a breath of fresh air for music listeners, spanning a colossal spectrum of sounds, timbres, and themes. ...

Our in-box has grown to ridiculous proportions, it fair creaks and bulges with good music and we are desperately trying to keep up with the flow. Time then for eight of the best to come our, and now your, way. First up, we have East India Youth who caught our ears on 6 Music yesterday with Heaven, How Long their brilliant new single of krautrock inspired electro that builds into one almighty and incendiary coda. Highly recommended. . Second, the curiously named Lady Lamb [...]

We're barely three months into 2013, but could there already be a new record from Thee Oh Sees? Actually, that sounds about right. The San Francisco indie rock vets may be prolific to the point of insanity, but with each new release, they seem to get better and more interesting than before. The mythic, streamlined "Minotaur" is the latest from upcoming LP Floating Coffin , out April 16.

Listen to this new song from Thee Oh Sees , Minotaur . It's not your typical breakneck, frenzy of a psych garage rocker. Minotaur is a slow ballad and an interesting diversion for John Dwyer and his crew. I'll be interested to here the rest of the album, Floating Coffin , which is set for an April 16 release. Minotaur - Thee Oh Sees

John Dwyer just doesn't stop. This guys drinks reverb, eats guitar strings and probably sleeps in a sweat-soaked, instrument strewn garage. One of San Francisco's most restless musicians, he's fronted several different projects over the last two decades, including the now defunct Coachwhips and Pink and Brown, but for the last few years, Dwyer has bestowed his undivided attention unto his main squeeze - the scuzzy, fuzzy garage-psych-punk outfit Thee Oh Sees . The band has released at least one album a year for the past nine years, and will follow suit this [...]

Thee Oh Sees will release the followup to last year's masterpiece Putrifiers II on April 16, 2013 via Castle Face Records and it will be called Floating Coffin . Below we have "Minotaur", the new single from Thee Oh Sees, streaming for your enjoyment. The new LP will hit in April and will be put out on lead bro John Dwyer's label Castle Face. The album has been promised by Dwyer to be "darker" than previous releases. Which is an awesome thing to hear John Dwyer say. For [...]
San Francisco garage rock band Thee Oh Sees is anything but slow-paced when it comes to releasing new material. Checking in with at least one and often two full-length albums per year for the past few years, the group is continuing their streak with a new release on April 16, an LP titled Floating Coffin . The record's final track, "Minotaur," is currently available to stream above. "Minotaur" sees Thee Oh Sees further exploring the rough-around-the-edges sound they create via fuzzy guitars, garage-influenced percussion, and raw but not punishingly lo-fi production. A sonic addition such as the [...]

Deplorable behavior on our part, leaving the blog hanging out there with no posts for several days. It's hard when each of us gets busy. Nice of you folks to keep checking back. CONSIDER THESE: Thee Oh Sees - "Minotaur" [mp3] from Floating Coffin out 16 April on Castle Face Records On "Minotaur" we find John Dwyer channeling his [...]

San Francisco psych rockers Thee Oh Sees take a different turn in the new year, straying away from their psychedelic, garage rock tendencies with a new cut titled "Minotaur". The offering is more laid back and melodic than the frantic rock jams we've become accustomed to, but the change works. The real question is, what can we expect from the rest of the band's upcoming album, Floating Coffins ? Stream the song below, or nab a free download here . Floating Coffins is out on April 16th.

Floating Coffin is out 4/16 on Castle Face.
Today's music wants you to be its Valentine. Enjoy. : Mikal Cronin - Shout It Out : You know what I can't wait for? Mikal Cronin's new album. This first single is a shimmering anthem, and I hope the whole LP is packed with more of the same. MCII is due out May 7 via Merge . : Elephant - Skyscraper : The press release for this duo had a lot of information about their early success and the subsequent drama that followed it, but that stuff's no fun.
