The baby will be the second for the rocker and his wife, Brody Dalle , of Spinerette and Distillers fame. Dave Grohl, Jack Black, Lady Gaga Rumored to Appear in New Muppets Film Filed under: News , Movies A new Muppet movie, titled simply, 'The Muppets,' is scheduled for theatrical release in late 2011 and that, alone, is exciting news. Among the film's expected stars -- you know, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Rizzo the Rat and the others -- the famed rock back, Dr. Teeth, are also supposed to return to the fold in a plot centered around the Muppet clan trying to save their old theater. NOT-QUITE-KYUSS "THINKING OF" MAKING A NEW ALBUM

One of these men will not be on the new Kyuss album. Guess which one? Kyuss Lives!, the ridiculously monikered Kyuss non-reunion which replaces Josh Homme with some dude no one has ever heard of, are apparently "thinking of doing another record," according to this interview with vocalist John Garcia. I object to the use [...]

AND THIS YEAR'S NOMINATIONS FOR THE BULLSHIT METAL AND HARD ROCK GRAMMYS ARE…

The Grammy nominations have been announced, and, as per usual, they've got nuthin' to do with nuthin'. This isn't a shock; the Grammys have been a meaningless award, and will remain a meaningless award. But if you're morbidly curious, as I am, as to who old white dudes think are the créme de la créme [...]

Grammy nominations revealed

Grammy nominations revealed Well here we are again. The time when the old, white men of the recording industry decide to bestow their blessings on artists who they feel should get a Grammy award while the rest of us pull out our hair because the real talents didn't get any recognition. We should first be proud, however, that Arcade Fire are up for Album of the Year with The Suburbs and Florence + The Machine and Mumford & Sons are up for Best New Artist. It's talent that definitely deserves recognition as well as the actual [...]

Interview: BURSTing At The Seams With The Pass

Interview: BURSTing At The Seams With The Pass I came across a song called 'Crosswalk Stereo' about year ago now. It was around the same time we began work on 1forthepeople. The track was one of the reasons that enticed me into working on band exposure with 1FTP. The Pass' sound had an undeniably up beat, "loving life", ahead of its time feel to it. I for one wanted more. Luckily in February they brought us their Colors (would be spelt colours if they used correct English, jokes) EP featuring 'Crosswalk Stereo' and then came their debut LP [...]

Morning Buzz: Johnny Cash, Weezer, Foo Fighters

:: There's a big Johnny Cash memorabilia auction set for Dec. 5. Hopefully I have enough money left to pay my mortgage afterward. Hopefully. :: Weezer covered Toni Braxton 's Unbreak My Heart . Insert ironic quip here. :: Jimmy Eat World is taking David Bazan on tour . Talk about a 2001 dream package. :: Looks like Dave Grohl got all sentimental about the Foo Fighters while he was jamming with [...]

Roskilde Festival: Day 2 Roundup

Roskilde Festival: Day 2 Roundup My Day 2 at Roskilde started and ended inauspiciously. Forgetting to set the alarm on my mobile, I am stirred by the heat of the sun and realise, oh no, it's already 10.30? That can't be! Manic rustling around for my tape recorder, camera, batteries and other essentials ensues. On my way out I grab a banana, an apple and a granola bar to choke down on the train ride back to the festival. So much for a civilised breakfast. Instead of taking the bus, the train [...]

Interview: John Garcia – "Hopefully one day we might do another Kyuss record"

Garcia plays Kyuss pt1
Is 'living legend' an over-used phrase? Not when you're talking about John Garcia it isn't. We sent Amit Sharma to interrogate stoner rock's standard-bearer when he played at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, earlier this month. Sometimes, even with the benefit of hindsight, it seems almost impossible to gauge the true impact of a band. [...]

Queens of the Stone Age Set to Record New Album, Reissue 'Rated R'

Queens of the Stone Age Set to Record New Album, Reissue 'Rated R' Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , New Music Even with his duties as vocalist and guitarist for Them Crooked Vultures , Josh Homme is taking Queens of the Stone Age back into the studio after the band's late August festival run in Europe . Speaking with Rolling Stone , Homme says that the next record will be "all about wiggling hips. The music is gonna go further down that strange and lovely path of [2007's] 'Era Vulgaris.'" The other [...]

Roskilde 2010 – Day Two

The day begins with a solution to who the mystery hugging-man was last night. He is a member of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble who open Friday in the best way possible – with a mass of pumping trombones, trumpets etc and by the end of the first minute of dancing and gyrating no-one remembers they have a hangover and third degree sunburn. The Chicago combo simply make the best live dance music, throwing in some afro beats behind the brass chorus and the odd rap from various members of the band. It's a love-in, no [...]

Gorillaz [...]

Watch: Josh Homme asks the immortal question, "What what, in the butt?"

Two years ago Queens of the Stone Age / Them Crooked Vultures guitarist Josh Homme made headlines for a verbal tirade unleashed on a rowdy fan. Homme threw out some gay slurs, then threatened to rape the dude, then said some more slurs. A few days later he issued a sort-of apology that devolved into him advising his critics to "let both of your cheeks go loose so the stick will drop out." None of this is directly related to the video we're about to show you, but the [...]

Them Crooked Vultures holding benefit concerts for Eagles Of Death Metal bassist

Them Crooked Vultures holding benefit concerts for Eagles Of Death Metal bassist Sad news coming from the Eagles of Death Metal. Their bassist, Brian O'Connor, was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery today. He'll start chemotherapy in three weeks. Never fun. But the rock n' roll community is a tight one and some friends of his are coming to his aid. Them Crooked Vultures will hold two benefit concerts, one in London and one in Los Angeles, to raise money for Brian's medical expenses. The show in London will take place at Brixton Academy on July 5th while the show in L.A. has yet [...]
